To all of you, on behalf of the Club, I would like to wish all of you a speedy recovery, and I do be- lieve you all are well on that road. We all look forward to seeing your smiling faces again on the dance floor very soon. What a fantasc night we had for our April dance. We were booked out for this dance which was tremendous as the Jump Devils havent played at a rock & roll dance in Gee- long for many years so most of our members hadnt heard them before. They certainly did- nt disappoint. The floor was not empty all night and that is a very, very clear indicaon that people love the music and just want to dance to it. It was funny, I asked several people what they thought about the band and their music and almost all said they loved them and it was good to have something different. There was of course some whose comment was No its not really my type of musicand thats perfect- ly ok too, everyone has different tastes but those who said this also didnt leave the floor all night. The May dance sees another first me band playing at our venue. The young and very tal- ented Shane Magro who is the lead guitar and lead vocal of a favourite band of the Clubs, the Cadillac Driſters, is bringing one of his other bands to our dance. The Shane Magro Combo which consists of Shane Magro – Vocals & Gui- tar, James Schembri – Guitar & Vocals, Robbin Sharrock – Upright Bass and Frankie DAbaco Drums & Vocals. It promises to be another great night of great music and dancing. The first block of classes for 2018 are done and dusted. They have been really well aended and its great to think that there are sll many people out there who are wanng to learn this great style of dancing. Nearly all of those who finished the first block have returned in the 2 nd block to connue their journey of learning rock and roll along with many new first mers. The intermediate group has been extremely well aended with about 15 couples. At the moment Elva & Robin are taking them through a bit of Lindy Hop Swing and showing them how they can incorporate into their Pub Rock & Roll”. This block finishes on Thursday 10 th May and cul- minang in the Party Night on Thursday 17 th May. Block 3 starts on Thursday 31 st May so spread the word everyone. Aſter our last dance I was asked to explain why we have had to introduce a security per- son to check our bags for drinks as we enter. Unfortunately at the last three dances in 2017, including the fesval, the bar staff and the Manager of White Eagle House found empty boles of alcohol and soſt drinks leſt on the tables and in one case quite a collec- on of empty designer beer stubbies under a table. All of them are not sold at the Club. This has placed us in a very difficult situaon and has jeopardised our connued use of the venue. Our commiee were requested by the Man- agement of the Club to take steps to ensure that it doesnt happen again. May / June 2018

Firstly we have a couple of our wonderful members who have been a bit under the weather over the last month for one reason or another and unfortunately, as I don’t have per-mission to say who, I can’t mention names. To all of you, on behalf of the Club, I would like to wish all of you a speedy recovery, and I do be-lieve you all are well on that road. We all look forward to seeing your smiling faces again on the dance floor very soon. What a fantastic night we had for our April dance. We were booked out for this dance which was tremendous as the Jump Devils haven’t played at a rock & roll dance in Gee-long for many years so most of our members hadn’t heard them before. The first block of classes for 2018 are done and dusted. They have been really well attended and it’s great to think that there are still many people out there who are wanting to learn this great style of dancing. Nearly all of those who finished the first block have returned in the 2nd block to continue their journey of learning rock and roll along with many new first timers. The intermediate group has been extremely well attended with about 15 couples. The Club’s pamphlets have always stated, that drinks were only available at the club and that it is only BYO Nibbles. So rather than cop the exorbitant cost of having one of White Eagle House security guards checking the bags we decided to go with the person we had already hired to man the door to also check bags for “BYO drinks”. Our security person has been checking bags from our February dance and unfortunately at every one of the dances this year she has had to ask someone to please take their drink back to their vehicles. We absolutely believe that the persons bringing in the BYO drinks are not members of our club but are peo-ple who perhaps have never attended our dances before and do not know the rules. We ask all our patrons to please understand the com-mittee’s position and please cooperate with our secu-rity person. She is a fully licensed security guard and is acting in the best interests of our club. We really want to continue having our dances at White Eagle House as we have a great working relationship with them and hope to continue well into the future. Well until next time Keep on Dancin’, have Fun and remember, respect for each other and a smile can be contagious! Lea Gilliland

Our classes are $10.00 per person and Beginners (rotating) starts at 7pm sharp, then intermediate starts at 8pm.

Our term runs for 6 weeks then we have party night where we have a social night and we all bring a plate of supper to share. Then there is a 1 week break before resuming again. Please see the time table.

If any members would like to help out on the door please see one of the Committee Members and put your name down.

Hi all, good news, the Subcommittee has commenced planning the 2019 Festival and are considering some exciting elements to this event. Keep an eye out over the coming months as we let you know what we have in store for you. Tickets will be available through Trybooking and we will open up the system from the 1st August 2018 for those that like to get in early. You must all note in your diaries to keep the 4th, 5th & 6th of January 2019 free for this great weekend. As with other years a good time is “almost” guaranteed. I have placed an order for the Sunday to be sunny and a pleasant 28 degrees so we will see how it ends up. The new layout we had in 2018 will again be used with some minor changes to improve the flow. We will again have the stall / food court area set up so you can get your fill of food and other necessary Rock & Roll stuff. Larry Festival Co-Ordinator
