PRESIDENT’S MONTHLY REPORT

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Monday 23rd saw the club’s AGM being held. A small

group of members were in attendance. Thank you to you

all for attending. I’d like to thank outgoing committee

members: Vice President – Glenda Trainor; Secretary –

Paul Shadbolt; Treasurer – Lyn Johnson and ordinary

members – Larry Devenish, Barry Mitchell, Ray Robertson,

Matt Zdravkovski and Julianne Rogers. It has been an

absolute honour to work with you all and on behalf of the

members I would like to thank you all very much for your

work and dedication to our club.

Your new committee has been formed and it’s great to see some of our outgoing committee coming back on for another year. The 2019/2020 committee is made up as follows: President – Lea Gilliland; Vice President – Glenda Trainor; Secretary – Julianne Rogers; Ordinary Members – Ray Robertson, Paul Shadbolt and Matt Zdravkovski. We still have some vacancies and would like to ask members to really consider being part of this great group of people to take our club forward into 2020. The positions vacant are Treasurer, and up to three ordinary members. The club cannot function effectively without a full committee so I really hope you will consider joining us to help share the load.

LESSONS EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST FOR LESSONS 2020 We’re coming to the end of the year and it’s time to start thinking about 2020. Part of that planning involves our Rock & Roll classes for the new year. We are looking for expressions of interest from persons who have an interest in teaching basic Rock & Roll to our current and new dance students. Please either send your expression of interest by mail to The Secretary, PO Box 2046, Geelong Vic 3220 or by email to The Secretary, jukeboxrockers@gmail.com. Submissions will be accepted up to 4pm on Friday 11th October, 2019. MONDAY SWING WORKSHOP The current block will finish on Monday 14th October. I know that those attending are very much enjoying this block of Lindy Hop style of dance. It’s a great challenge for those wanting to extend their knowledge of rock and roll with another style. THURSDAY ROCK AND ROLL LESSONS This week the latest block of Rock & Roll finished and it’s been great to see some familiar faces along with many new faces. The new and final block of classes start on Thursday 10th October and will run through to 14th November. Spread the word!

MONTHLY DANCES OCTOBER DANCE Don’t forget we have our “Bistro/Dance” on Saturday October 5th. Bookings can be made through Trybooking. Hope you can join us for a meal before the dance at 6pm. If coming for dinner, please book by 30th September for catering. NOVEMBER DANCE An early reminder for the November Dance. It is a themed dance which is Halloween’. So drag out those costumes; ghoul, zombie, witches or whatever takes your fancy and come along for a great night with the Rousers.

SOCIAL NEWS CAMPING WEEKEND Our weekend away is fast approaching and I’ve heard that a good many people are attending. If the last camp was any indication this will be a great weekend away with some great friends. If you haven’t already booked and really would like to attend don’t wait too long. Bookings can be made through the Jubilee Lake Holiday Park on 03 5348 2186. Just saying you are booking as part of the Geelong Jukebox Rockers and they’ll place you as closely to the others as they can.

SUMMER ROCK FESTIVAL UPDATE

Bookings are now open through Trybooking for the weekend 3rd, 4th & 5th January 2020.

Prices— Friday $22pp Saturday $22pp Sunday $15pp Children admitted free when accompanied with an adult. Children must be booked for dances. Weekend Package $55pp. If requiring a double package just enter 2 in the quantity box.

END OF YEAR CHRISTMAS Well, I know many of you don’t want to know this but, there are only about 12 more weeks left till Christmas. Again we will be celebrating with our members. Starting on Saturday 7th December with our December dance with Who Was That Cat. Again this year it will be a “Decorate Your Own Table” event. So get together with your friends and organise your table’s decorations. Even if you don’t usually sit with a group of people, bring along decorations and add them to the others on your table on the night. On Saturday 14th December we will be holding and children’s Christmas Party. This will be held on the White Eagle House grounds, weather permitting. If the weather is inclement, we will have an alternative venue which we will notify everyone of closer to the date. We’ll be giving more details in the next newsletter. Last year it was decided to have an Adult Christmas Monday Social which was a great night. This year, again we will be holding another Adult Christmas night with CJ again playing some great rock and roll. This will be held on Monday December 16th. More details will be in the next newsletter. So….. Pop these dates in your diary as we look towards a great end to the year. Well that’s all for now.
