Maths for week commencing 20th April

After all your hard work this year, we do not want you to forget all that work over the coming weeks. If you do a little maths every day, it will keep things fresh in your mind for when you come back to school. Every day there are some arithmetic questions and a couple of reasoning style problems to solve. There is also a ‘daily challenge’ for you to try and complete.

You do not need a calculator for any of these maths questions. You can either print the pages off to complete or you can write the answer down in your exercise book.

Monday 20th April

Daily challenge: Use the Internet or magazines to design your dream bedroom. Work out how much it would cost.

Extra: There is a 20% sale. Work out the new cost.

Tuesday 21st April

Daily challenge: Plan a trip to the beach. Work out how much it would cost, including travel and spending money.

Extra: What would the difference be in price between taking the bus to the beach or getting a train?

Wednesday 22nd April

Daily challenge: Work out the area of your garden.

Extra: Try and draw a scaled drawing of your garden. E.g. 1 metre = 1cm in your drawing.

Thursday 23rd April

Daily challenge: Work out your age in minutes.

Extra: Work out your mum/dad/siblings ages in minutes.

Friday 24th April

Daily challenge: Find a recipe for 4 people. How much of each ingredient would you need for 32 people?
