Marketing – digi paks

DIGI-PAKS

• The marketing technique for the DigiPak is that Ellie Goulding is on each side of the album. This is a way of her using herself to promote her album; it’s showing her personality and emotion through her facial expressions, which somehow link to the genre of the music. As well as that, she’s featured in the magazine advert as well. It shows that she’s the main focus.

The album cover features symbols that represent each word of the album name.

This is unique and reflects the band’s alternative style by being different

The ‘YOU’ is portrayed as a home upside down. Could suggest his love for this person

has turned sour and his love is misleading/deceptive. The symbol is a

reference to one of their song’s music video ‘Sweater Weather’ as the symbol was

featured.

The background is of dark clouds – thunder clouds – connoting fear and

danger. Which is ironic to the name of the album. However supports the idea

of a misleading love. The background is seen in black and white like their music

videos are in B&W

The name of the album is at the back in text. The bar code is in the right corner. And the track list is horizontally listed. Extra

information at the bottom. This is seen on a white background

The clouds

are seen

on half of the

back of the

album

Marketing – Magazine adverts

Page 14: Marketing

MAGAZINE AD• The magazine advert for the

Arctic Monkey’s shows the heart rate monitor visually. Their main unique symbol is that heart rate line on their album covers; for example, in ‘Do You Wanna Know?’ it shows a shorter heart line. It links all of their advertisements together that involve that heart line and it acts into a sort of creative movement.

Only the name of the name is not in

capital letters. Where else the rest

of the text is. In addition the name of the band is blue.

This makes the group name stand

out some everything else. In a simplistic way –

suits the band

Their band name isn’t Alt-J it’s the triangle symbol.

The band names themselves after the uppercase Latin symbol delta (alt – J keys)

Symbol shows change in mathematical equations./

This symbol makes the band easily recognisable as they

use it everywhere!

There’s different colours to the triangle. For the inside

triangle the colour of it is of the album cover design for ‘An Awesome Wave’. This colour theme promotes their album because it makes the album more

recognisable.

The colours are very pale. This

allows the album design triangle to

stand out.

Names an award winning song from album. Promotes album as it features a popular song

and is award winning suggesting the album songs to be outstanding.
