Welcome to the March edition of the LiverpoolSU’s newsletter designed to keep you updated with what we are doing each month.

We are here to help you get the most from your last couple of months this semester and strive to provide a range of support services that enable you to love student life!

Read up on all the events and opportunities we have to help end this semester and for more information on anything mentioned, please visit the LivepoolSU website.

LiverpoolSU are delighted to announce that we have been awarded a Bronze Students Union Evaluation Initiative (SUEi) Award. SUEi is a unique quality assessment model that assists in improving the services and activities delivered to members of Students’ Unions.

This is proof that we are a good Students’ Union and committed to continually developing and improving for our members.

Welcome to the March Beat

Darren, Paul, James and Tom Student Officer Team 2011/12

Every year we ask students to elect who will lead LiverpoolSU for the following 12 months.

The winners will become a Vice President or President of a multi-million pound turnover charity, representing over 24,000 students to the Vice Chancellor and senior academic staff, and will see through improvements and changes at LJMU to ensure students are getting the best possible experience.

It’s an important job, to say the least. So we need as many students as possible to vote.

Voting takes place from Thursday the 8th of March to Friday the 16th of March. The positions available are:

President

Vice President (Academic Quality)

Vice President (Community Engagement)

Vice President (Activities)

If you don’t know who to vote for, you can also see candidates’ manifestos and a ‘vote match’ tool at www.so-elections.com. It only takes 2 minutes to vote, so just go to www.so-elections.com.

We use the “single transferable vote” method in our elections so that you can prioritise who you think is the best person for the job. So put a number ‘1’ next to the person you most want to win, followed by a ‘2’ next to the person who you think is second best and so on and so on.

LiverpoolSU’s Advice Centre is based on the first floor of the Haigh Building.

Our two experienced student advisers offer free advice and representation to students for all academic procedures including Academic Appeals, Complaints, Fitness to Practice, Academic Misconduct, Disciplinary Hearings and Extenuating Circumstance submissions.
