CHRISTMAS MESSAGE

Brothers All, I am wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. We are in advent, preparing to celebrate the birth of our Savior, an event that leads to our salvation. It is been said that all the Kings who ever reigned, that all the parliaments that ever sat have not done as much to advance the cause of peace on Earth and good will to men as the man from Galilee, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus would become a great teacher and philosopher and so much more. He is divine, living assurance that God so loved the world He gave us His only Son so that by believing in Him and learning to love each other we could one day be together in paradise. However, our modern society often forgets that Christmas is a time to celebrate the birthday of the Prince of Peace and not commercialism. Jesus birth is moving and tells a story which has many simi-larities to our own---- a story of love, hope, and prayer. So as you celebrate the upcoming Christmas season with your family, friends, co-workers, and Brother Knights, please remember to Keep Christ in Christmas. As you do it, it will surely brighten your Christmas. Also, We do not need to look far for our blessings. They already include our life, our salvation, our family, our membership in this order and countless others. By counting our blessing we are less likely to let problems and challenges of our lives get us down. Let us commit therefore, ,during this Year of Advent season to count our blessings; love and respect our fellow man, and to have a Christ centered Christmas. So, Aurora and myself wish each of you a blessed Christmas season, filled with the love of family and friends. May God bless you all and keep you safe with His love and the love of us all. Fraternally, Bing de Castro District Deputy#23 December 25, 2015

IN MEMORIAM

The Executive Officers and Members of Archbishop Duke Council 6855 express their deepest

sympathy and condolences to the CHAMBERLAND and SZE Families. Brothers Rudy Chamber-

land and Charles Sze will be missed by many, but will never be forgotten.

Charles Sze was born on August 4, 1930 in Nimbo, China. He

passed away on December 27, 2015 in Richmond ,BC.

He joined the Knights of Columbus on May 1, 1992. He went

on to become a Sir Knight as a member of the 4th Degree . To-

gether with his wife, Doris, he has been actively involved in

the council until he fell ill.

Rudy Chamberland was born on April 13, 1930 in Winnipeg,

Manitoba. He passed away on December 24, 2015 in Delta, BC.

He joined the Knights of Columbus on January 1, 1987. He was a

4th Degree Sir Knight. Together with his wife Gladys, he was

active and committed as a true member of the Knights of Colum-

bus until he fell ill.

God our Father, Your power brings us to birth, Your providence guides our lives, and by Your command we return to dust.

Lord, those who die still live in Your presence,

their lives change but do not end.

I pray in hope for the family,

relatives and friends,

and for all the dead known to You alone. In company with Christ, Who died and now lives, may they rejoice in Your kingdom, where all our tears are wiped away. Unite us together again in one family, to sing Your praise forever and ever. Amen

Subject: a note of appreciation

To whom this may concern,

During this busy season of Advent, while we prepare ourselves for the birth of our Lord Jesus

Christ , we may forget to acknowledge some of our fellow brothers and sisters.

I would like personally to thank the Grand Knight, volunteers and those who helped with the

cleanup of the parish centre kitchen from our recent Christmas dinner for the seniors, last

Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015.

The kitchen was left in the upmost spotless condition possible. it surely exemplifies what a

great knight tradition. To serve.

As part of the bingo team, we utilizes the kitchen on a weekly basis; this is a tremendous help

to us all who uses the kitchen frequently and it does not go unnoticed.

yours in Christ,

howard Lam

FAMILY OF THE MONTH

Family of Brother Randy and Gaizel Aclan

FAMILY OF THE MONTH

On the fifteenth day of each month — from August through July — 100 Family

of the Month reporting forms will be drawn at random from among all entries

received at the Supreme Council office for the previous month. Each of the 100

families selected will receive a beautiful Holy Family statuette along with a

letter of congratulations from Supreme Knight Carl A. Anderson. The follow-

ing factors should be considered in the search for the “Family of the Month:”

• Has the family made significant contributions to the Church, community and/

or council?

• Does the family enjoy one another?

• Does the family share experiences?

• Does the family communicate openly and honestly?

• Does the family pray and attend Mass together?

• Does the family spend its time together interacting instead of in front of the

television set?

Brother Randy and Sister Gaizel have been a recipient of numerous

awards and recognition from the council. This time, they are once

again recognized for their dedication and commitment serving not

only the council but the parish at large.

The couple has become a regular fixture during the Pancake Breakfast

Sundays where they hold the regular Blood Pressure Test—SARAH.

This activity becomes a “look forward” thing for many parishioners

who want to have their blood pressure test. Aside from this, they are

actively involved in many events of the council. Brother Randy be-

came a 1st Degree Knight on July 27, 2009. He is now a Sir Knight

being a member of the 4th Degree.

They have been married for 20 years with 2 lovely daughters, Ahra

and Ella.. Their 2 daughters served as altar servers for 6 years at St.

Paul Parish.

They are active with the Couples for Christ since they joined in 2003.

The family are not only Catholics in name but are truly a practising

Catholic family .

This indeed, is a family that prays together and they stay together;

truly a role model family. CONGRATULATIONS for being awarded

the FAMILY OF THE MONTH for November 2015.

Brother John Koop

KNIGHT OF THE MONTH

State Knight of the Month Award This award is intended to capture a brother’s leadership, contribution, involvement, and being a ‘role

model’ within his council. He makes a significant contribution to the tradition of the Knights and our principles of charity, unity, frater-

nity and patriotism. This is a Knight who shares his time and talents in a vigorous program of service and is enthusiastic and positive

in working together with fellow brothers to help their church and their community. He makes a significant contribution to our frater-

nal activities and is a recognized leader within his council to improve the good of church and society. Judgement Criteria • Active

member in charitable works of the order and his council.

• Motivation based on the needs of those we serve.

• Positive and active brother at work, with his family and relationship with others

• Is a role model in protecting and strengthening Christian family life. Demonstrates spiritual sensibility as we work through practical

issues of family life. • Makes a significant impact to his council by providing leadership in educational, religious, service and social

activities. • A brother who is influential and important force within his council. He contributes to the success of his council’s programs.

In summary, this is a brother who is directly involved in the service to church, community, council, family and youth to ensure success

of council programs.

Brother John Koop is a recipient of the Knight of the Month—November 2015. He was exemplified to the 1st Degree March 1, 1992 and

went to become a Sir Knight as a member of the 4th Degree. He has served in different positions of the council and currently a member

of the Oversight Committee.

What makes him outstanding is his sincere dedication and passion with his responsibilities: Pancake Breakfast, Usher, Set up and Take

down among other many volunteer works he does for the council. He is always ready to lend a hand. He has become a true asset of

the council. Without him, it seems as if something is missing. He is not only active in the council but he truly practices his faith. He

truly deserves the recognition as a role model and the Knight of the Month Award . THANK YOU AND CONGRATULATIONS!
