Dear Brother Knights, The year gone by was a blur of activity for our council and the New Year promises to be no different if not more. The month of January will be devoted mainly to sports as we commence our annual Council Free Throw com- petition and host the regional Free Throw Competition as well. We also plan to embark on several new projects as well as involve ourselves with an important State Project. We are also well on our way to achieving Double Star Council and should achieve our numbers by February 2008. I know you are all up to the task and I look forward to working with you in achieving our goals. I wish you and your family a Happy and Prosperous New Year. God Bless you all. Fr. Gabriel de Chadarevian - Biography: Father Gabriel is a Dominican Friar (O.P. = the Or-der of Preachers) who was born and raised in Lebanon (Middle East) in 1952 and emigrated to Canada in 1975. He studied Biochemistry at the American Univer-sity of Beirut and worked six years in Ottawa be-fore joining the Canadian Dominicans. After a few years of formation in Philosophy and Theology, he was sent to Strasbourg (France) for his doctoral studies in the Fathers of the Church (1993-1997). He came back to teach in Ottawa at the Dominican University College of Philosophy and Theology. In 2003, he was sent to Sudbury (Ontario) to be the Catholic chaplain at the Univer-sity there and to teach Theology. In 2006, he came to Vancouver and was hired as chaplain at St. Mark’s College (UBC). In September 2007, he was appointed temporary Administrator of the Slovak Parish in New Westminster (Sts. Cyril and Metho-dius). In February 2008, he will receive a new ap-pointment for ministry by the Archbishop of Van-couver. Father Gabriel lives in Community at St. Mary’s Parish in Vancouver with three other Do-minican Friars (Father Pierre Leblond, Father Mark Hoo and Father Claude Noel). Brother Stan Leong-PGK, FDD
