Dear Brother Knights, Our installation and awards night on October 27 was a wonderful tribute to our council and its members. Thanks to our Chancellor Brother Edgar for organizing the evening. Congratulations to the recipients of the well deserved awards. Our grateful thanks to Worthy State Deputy BC and Yukon Brother Dan and Mrs. Joanne O’Hara for taking the time to be with us on our installation night. It is deeply appreciated. We are entering a very busy phase in our activities for this Columbian year. We are organizing a Seniors Christmas luncheon for the very first time. The New years dinner/dance for our parish is also organized by our council. Added to this is of course the usual pan- cake breakfast, our council Christmas sing along etc.. We have also set ourselves a target of achieving double star council. I know you are all up to the task and I look forward to working with you in achieving our goals. God Bless you all. Report on Soccer Challenge.

September signaled the start of a new school year and soccer programs for most of our kids. And with that, we also kicked off our Knights of Colum-bus Soccer Challenge held jointly with Christopher Columbus Council 10681 from St. Joseph the Worker Parish. Considering the weather forecast called for showers, the event was held at St. Joseph the Worker grounds on Sep. 22, 2007 under PERFECT weather – not a cloud in the sky or a single raindrop. We had a good turnout in terms of participants, 11 kids all from St. Jo-seph the Worker school, and 9 volun-teers from the two Councils. We also got to use the soccer equipment that our Council purchased this year. Thanks to our Worthy Grand Knight Kevin Pinto for securing the funds. To have equal representation, Bro. Ar-dee Bautista from Council 10681, out of the goodness of his heart, agreed to have some of their kids represent our Council 6855. Here are our Council champions with

their scores: Girl, 10 - Stephanie Herrera (85) Boy, 10 - Aidan Lunny (80); moved on to become District Champ (145) Boy, 11 - Theo Lorenz (110); moved on to become District Champ (195) Boy, 12 - Daniel Sun (70) BIG thanks go to Bros. Edgar Ursua and wife, Prezi, and Bro. Happy Tay who came to the event in his full Sin-gapore Class 1 Referee uniform. With your help in setting up, officiating and picture taking, we were able to start and finish on time. Our next event will be Free Throw Championship to be held on January 19 and 26, 2008 at St. Paul’s Parish Centre and we will need more volun-teers for this event. BROTHER TONY BANTING COUNCIL SPORTS DIRECTOR NEW MEMBERS Congratulations to the following Brothers, the newest addition to our council: Brother Danilo De Joya and Brother Manuel Canita. Danilo and Yolanda are members of St. Paul Parish. Danilo was initiated as a first degree member in October. Sir Knight Manuel Canita and his wife Gloria are new parishioners of St. Paul Parish. Brother Manuel transferred to our council from his previous council in the Phillipines. We welcome Brother Danilo and Brother Manuel to Council 6855.

REPORT ON CHARITY APPEAL KofC 46th Annual Charity Appeal Draw 2007-2008 Approximately 170 Ticket Booklets out of 400 sold in a Joint Council Charity Appeal Mall Ticket Sales held October 29 to November 11 in Lansdowne Mall and Richmond Center. I would like to thank all our Brother Knights who participated and sup-ported our Star Council in this brotherly community work and en-courage those who has not, to join us in its forthcoming Mall Ticket Sales in January, 2008. Appreciation goes to our 6855 Brother Knights who has turned in their SOLD tickets. BROTHER EDGAR C. URSUA CHANCELLOR REPORT ON COLUMBUS CHARITIES The Columbus Charities Association held its annual general meeting on October 16, 2007 and re-elected the officers: President : Ken Wray Vice President: Mike Garisto Treasurer : Art Wunderlich Secretary : Denis Christopherson The 4 properties of Columbus Chari-ties (approx $ 27M) are operating well and we look forward to a good year to come. It is important that CCA re-

ceives support from the 64 Knights of Councils of the lower mainland. There was a disappointing turnout of less than 30 people last night for the AGM and Im sure only 12-6 councils were represented. There must be a way of getting past the apathy that has set in. Our council 6855 is one of the few that donates money and time to the efforts of the CCA. Senior housing is and will continue to be a major concern. With every effort from CCA we help to supply afford-able senior housing to Vancouver, Delta and Chilliwack. What we really need is a method to make all Grand Knights of all lower mainland councils aware of the CCA and the value we give back to the people. I am proud to say I am a Director on the board of this group but it must be known that all the work is done before we go to a meeting by the executive committee. If it wasn't for a strong commitment by the current executive, we could not have done what we’ve done. The CCA receives no backing from State. It is up to us to keep this going. ROD WINNING, PGK COLUMBUUS CHARITIES DIRECTOR

KNIGHT OF THE MONTH Our Council Knight of the Month for October 2007 is Brother Mel Ison. Brother Mel is a true unsung hero and a hard working member of our council since he became a member in 2002. This brother serves on our executive. He coordinates the monthly collection of our community food bank drive. He is a member of our pancake breakfast crew and is active in all council events. Recently Brother Mel took the initiative to design and build a portable display stand that could be used to display pictures of our various council activi-ties as well as serve as a source of in-formation for prospective candidates wishing to join the Knights of Colum-bus. Brother Mel is also coordinating our Council’s fall brunch program for the month of November. He has truly displayed the virtues and values of true knighthood by tirelessly working for his council and commu-nity. Our council is indeed fortunate to have a brother like Mel Ison as one of its members. Congratulations Brother Mel on your selection as Council Knight of the Month for October 2007, and God Bless you and your family.

FAMILY OF THE MONTH Our Family of the month for October 2007 is Brother Ken and Rosalind Chew. He has been participating in our monthly council sports night activi-ties. Ken also helps with our pancake breakfast and has also been active in our council meetings. Congratulations Brother Ken and Rosalind on your selection as council Family of the Month for October 2007 And God Bless you both. The remaining members should pick up their bulletin, which will be placed at the entrance to the church, usually when possible on the first Sunday of each month. Please notify the Financial Secretary Bro. Alberto Nis-peros (604) 275 - 7426 of any change of address, tele-phone number or email.
