Kelly’s Korner…
Summer Greetings!
I would like to dedicate this edition of our newsletter to longtime
COA Board Member Ted Haringa. Ted was appointed to the
Board in 2007, which was certainly just the beginning. By May
of 2011, Ted was elected as Chairman, a position he held until
his resignation this past May. Ted’s work remains very much a
part of the foundation of our COA. As Director, I am beyond
thankful for the years I worked alongside Ted. Together with his
guidance, perseverance and never-ending support, the Council
on Aging accomplished many goals. Also, on a personal note,
during these years I came to truly know Ted and his wife, Marie.
Particularly sharing in their excitement with the welcoming of
each new great-grandchild. This is what I cherish the most!

NEW EDUCATION SERIES
We are starting a monthly Education Series
At the Senior Center beginning
Wednesday, September 4th
From 6:00-7:30pm
Our first topic will be:
“Cannabis: Facts & Myths in Regards to Healthcare”
Canna Care Docs offers medical marijuana evaluations at their clinics across Massa-
chusetts. As medical cannabis becomes more widely available, many people are
seeing it as a viable option for healthcare, but need more information and education.
In this informational session, some topics of discussion are; the history of cannabis,
treatment options, safety, how cannabis works, CBD and other information
pertaining to medical cannabis and it’s use. Each person who attends the event
leaves with a folder that is filled with useful information about the program
including dispensary locations, a patient handbook and laws about the MMJ
program in Mass. After the slide presentation, there will be a question and answer
forum with a Nurse Practitioner.
This series is open to the public and free of charge.
Lite snacks will be provided.
Call Michelle for more info.
