VOCATION PRAYER CHALICE All families are asked to work to nurture and foster holy voca-tions in their home. Our parish has a Vocation Prayer Chalice to share among parishioners who will commit to praying for holy vocations for one week at a time. There are also prayer cards that have a specific prayer to pray each day. If you would like to have the Vocation Prayer Chalice in your home, please contact the parish secretary Trish Seaman at 332-6676 or at [email protected]. You may request a specific week that will work best for you.
Dynamic Catholic, Alive! Amen
This feast of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph marks the last Sunday of the calendar year. The Holy Family can serve as a model for our own families. “The family is the origi-nal cell of human society and is, therefore, prior to any recogni-tion by public authority” (Compendium, 457). A vibrant Catho-lic culture requires the renewal of family life, and family prayer is one source of renewal. How often do you pray as a family? Family prayer is essential in strengthening the Domestic Church. Happy New Year!

As we approach the new year and we think of new year resolutions, I want to pose a few
thoughts for your consideration. Many roles within our parish have been maintained for years by the same people. Many now in their seventies are starting to talk about “handing over the reigns” to someone else. Many of them have done tremendous work for the parish for 20, 25, plus years. It’s not a matter of a mass exodus of our older people leaving positions, but that some are getting tired. They may need help with activities they never needed help with before. The parish has to continue on in the same fashion as it has in the past. If it doesn’t, our viability will be questioned. Maybe it’s time for the next generation to start to step into positions their parents have held. That’s the only way we can insure our future. In January, I hope to post areas and positions in the parish that we need to update. Please think about volunteering. Let us pray for each other this week.

Stewardship Awareness “See what love the Father has given us, that we should be called chil-dren of God; and so we are.” (1 John 3:1) “During this season of giving, let us remember the most important gift we have received-being children of God. As God’s children, it’s impor-tant that we express our love for others as well. Tell your spouse, children and other family members and friends that you love them, frequently.
