NEW – ‘Click it or ticket’ campaign starts this week - May 20 through June 2, 2013 Think “click it or ticket,” a phrase that can remind you to listen for your seat belt clicking into place -- or get a ticket for your trouble. The Department of Defense will step up the nationwide “click it or ticket” campaign now and during the summer months as a reminder and encourage seatbelt use and reduce serious injuries and fatalities resulting from traffic accidents. Seat belts are the most effective safety feature ever invented and have helped save thousands of lives. Sadly, one in five Americans fail to regularly wear a seat belt when driving or riding in a motor vehicle. U.S. Army Cyber Command looking for next HHC Commander U.S. Army Cyber Command (ARCYBER) is looking for the next HHC Commander to lead the Soldiers, Civilians, and Family Members of the command as they operate and defend all Army networks, conduct cyberspace operations and develop the future cyber force. Command interviews will begin on or about May 20. This command is a MAJ/O-4 opportunity with anticipated change of command in late summer 2013. Senior captains with impeccable files will be considered. The position is for assignment at Fort Meade, MD, but also includes forces assigned to Fort Belvoir, VA. Civilian employees need annual leave assist Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall employees Marcia Freeman, director of Resource Management, Donna Maxey, director of Plans, Analysis and Integration, and two Defense Commissary Agency employees, Kizzy Jackson, a grocery department employee and William “Duke” Ayers, a produce department worker, both employed at the JBM-HH Commissary on the Fort Myer side of the base are all approved recipients of the civilian personnel annual leave donor program. Due to medical issues, they have exhausted both sick and annual leave. Department of the Army civilian employees who would like to donate annual leave to Freeman, Maxey, Jackson or Ayers must fill out Form OPM 630A, "Request to Donate Annual Leave to Leave Recipient Under the Voluntary Leave Transfer Program (Within Agency)" at www.opm.gov/forms/pdf_fill/opm630a.pdf. NEW – Twilight Tattoo set for tomorrow at Whipple Field at 6 p.m. Twilight Tattoo is an hour-long military pageant featuring Soldiers from the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) and The U.S. Army Band "Pershing's Own." Experience a glimpse into American history through performances by The U.S. Army Blues, vocalists from The U.S. Army Band Downrange, The Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps, and The U.S. Army Drill Team.

This performance is free and open to the public. The next performance is set for Wednesday, May 22 at 6 p.m. on Whipple Field. Due to budget constraints unfortunately we will not have bleachers for Twilight Tattoo this year. Grass seating is available, and we recommend you bring a blanket or lawn chairs. Due to the Twilight Tattoo performance Jackson Ave between Lee Ave and Grant Ave, along with Marshall Drive between Grant Ave and McNair Road will be closed from 4

Performances May 29 through June 26 will be located at Summerall Field on the Fort Myer portion of the joint base. Sunday Brunch at Spates Community Club Spates Community Club is now hosting Sunday Brunch from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Sunday. Prices are $13.95 for adults, $11.95 for kids 6-12 and kids 5 and under eat free. Emergency repairs to be made to Officers’ Club 50-yard pool The 50-yard Swimming Pool at the Fort Myer Officers Club will be closed for

emergency repairs May 20 through June 8. This closing will allow the replacement of the pool wall and the reset of tiling around the 50-yard pool. During this time the 25-meter, Figure 8 and wading pools will be operational daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Iwo Jima 7k Race – Updated Information Registration is open for the May 22 Iwo Jima 7k Race. Held on the joint base, the race begins at 6:30 a.m. at the Cpl Terry L. Smith Gym and proceeds to the Marine Corps War Memorial, popularly known as the Iwo Jima Memorial, before returning to Smith Gym. Tee-shirts will be given to the first 150 registered participants, and prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female runners. Online registration closes today,

NEW – Exchange to host ‘Hot Rods for Heroes’ event Stop by the Army and Air Force Exchange Service on the Fort Myer portion of JBM-HH Wednesday, May 29 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to see a professional race car display and meet the drivers. Get a look at least two top-rated, high-speed professional race cars. Get a t-shirt, stickers, pens and other give-a-ways. The race cars and their drivers who will answer questions and pose for photographs, will be stationed in the PX parking lot, across from the Memorial Chapel. Update on location: Spring brings annual community yard sale! The annual JBM-HH Community Yard Sale is set for Saturday, June 1, rain or shine, from 8 a.m. to noon along Jackson, Lee and Sheridan Avenues on Fort Myer and on 4th Avenue on Fort McNair. This is open to everyone. JBM-HH residents are encouraged to participate. Set-up and staging is permitted on the sidewalks along the Jackson, Lee and Sheridan and 4th Avenues. Aqua Aerobics to Resume at Zembiec Pool Aqua aerobics classes will resume at the Maj Douglas A. Zembiec Pool beginning

Tuesday, June 4. Deep water aqua aerobics classes meet Tuesdays and Thursdays 10:30

– 11:30 a.m. Deep water running classes meet Wednesdays and Fridays 11 a.m. – noon.

An aqua belt (limited supply available at the pool), water bottle, and swimsuit are

Army Substance Abuse Training for Civilians

The training listed below will be held on the Fort Myer portion of Joint Base Myer-

Henderson Hall in Building 230 from 1 to 2 p.m. Civilians are required to have two

hours of Army Substance Abuse training which would include Drug Free Workplace

(Substance Abuse Awareness) training and one hour of Suicide Awareness training.

If an employee participated in the Suicide Awareness Stand Down they will have

met the requirement for the year. If an employee did the Workplace Violence on line it

will also meet the yearly requirement. If anyone needs special accommodations or

NEW – Youth Sports & Fitness presents Challenger Sports British Soccer Camp Youth Sports and Fitness is offering two sessions of British Soccer this summer, June 24-28 and August 19-23, from 9 a.m. to noon for ages 5-16 yrs, 4 to 5:30 p.m. for ages 3-5 yrs. They are also offering one session of British Multi-Sports, July 29 to Aug. 2 from 9 a.m. to noon for ages 5-16 yrs. The SKIES program is also offering Swimming Lessons this summer. NEW – UFC 161 at the Marine Club The Marine Club will show UFC 161 on Saturday, June 15. The club opens at 8

NEW – Semper Fit Intramural Softball Get your team together and sign up for Semper Fit’s intramural softball league! Games are played select weekdays 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. starting June 25 on the Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall softball field. League play is open to all authorized patrons, and teams consist of 20 players plus a coach. The season ends in late August. NEW – LinkedIn® Workshop The Marine Career Resource Management Center offers two workshops May 28 on using LinkedIn to network and search for a job. The first, 9 — 11 a.m., is “LinkedIn 101: Are you Linked in to LinkedIn?” This session is for beginners and includes an introduction to creating a profile. Participants must bring a soft copy of their résumé and their photograph in business attire to be used during the workshop. The second session, noon — 3 p.m., is “LinkedIn Enhanced: Improve your LinkedIn Profile and Networking.” Participants must have a LinkedIn profile, be a member of at least two groups, and have at least 25 connections. Both sessions are held in Bldg. 29, Rm. 104, and are taught by Cesar Nader of XCorp Solutions, Inc. Pre-registration is required by calling 703-614-6828 and closes May 27. Autism Class Slated The Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall's Army Exceptional Family Member Program is sponsoring "Tricare / Other Benefits and Safety Issues for Military and DOD Civilian Parents with Children with Autism and Other Cognitive Disabilities" class and support group on Thursday, May 30 from noon to 3 pm at JBM-HH Army Community Service, Bldg 201 Custer Road, Fort Myer, Virginia. Guest speaker will be LTC Scott Campbell, parent of an Autistic child and board member of the Autism Society of America's Northern Virginia Chapter. Join us for a wonderful opportunity for Families to not only learn about medical benefits and safety issues for their Autistic children, but to also network with other Families. Reals Colors® Real Stress Marine Corps Community Services wants to help improve your communications skills at a Real Colors® Real Stress workshop Thursday, May 30, 1 – 4:30 p.m. This communication and stress management workshop is based on identifying personality temperaments. This evidence based curriculum focuses on how you prefer to communicate and, in turn, how to work well with others in both a personal and professional capacity. Parking area work ongoing through end of May Now through May 27, maintenance will be conducted on the parking structure adjacent to Building 29 on the Henderson Hall portion of the joint base. All vehicles must be removed from the parking structure no later than 4:30 p.m. each
