Given the impressive achievements of NA3, we have identified the following domains for improvement
Match course offering with participants’ profile and
expectations
Sustain access to t-
infrastructure and course
material beyond course
Facilitate regular
improvement/ review course
format and material
•Overall view: training needs much more resources in EU R&D to realise the Lisbon goals
Sustain access to t-infrastructure and course material beyond course
• Allow participants to learn how to use their application on the Grid framework
• Provide online discussion communities via Wiki and e-learning
• Establish global t-infrastructure
• Sustainable, homogenous infrastructure rather than one-off installations
• Dedicate and maintain nodes to t-infrastructure to facilitate post-course training environment
• Possibility to establish standards
• But: issue of authentication and authorisation

Business as Usual
• Development of Repository– > 200 talks– Extend content– Improve description & indexing– Include general (NA2) EGEE talks?
• Development of e-Learning– Schedule of feature releases– Demo at EGEE conf 4
• Regular Courses
Malcolm Atkinson: NA3, SA1, JRA1 & 3; NA2-4 reporting 21

INFSO-RI-508833
Summary of Joint Meetings
• gLite training required sooner than expected– Other training still required
• Need to develop integrated support– After training after care + close relationship with SA1 user
support
• Training needed for isolated workers– Can’t easily travel– Admin & operations especially
• Security training for operations & site security officers– Urgently needed– Include in all introduction as well
• VO Specific training– Work with domain experts – more effort – more effect
Malcolm Atkinson: NA3, SA1, JRA1 & 3; NA2-4 reporting 22

Conclusions
• EGEE training is getting strong supporting statements– EU reviewers– Students feedback– External NA3 Review– NA4 survey of VOs – especially biomed.
• The demand is there• The importance of training will increase• It will take more resources in the future
– EGEE2 should resource in all activities– Work to get greater investment
National bodies Universities EU
• Low rate of releases of Infrastructure beneficial for training
