From the Pastors Desk:

Last week I spoke about the word “amen”.

Let us continue the conversation on this

word again this week.

When we receive communion and respond

“amen” we are saying this is truly the

actual and real body of Jesus Christ. If we

truly believe this to be true, that the

eucharistic presence of Christ is real, then

the tone and volume of our proclamation

of amen needs to reflect this reality. Amen

ought to be proclaimed with a boldness of

faith; amen ought to be proclaimed

proudly with a faith-centred pride; amen

ought to be proclaimed with a richness of

tone in our voice; amen ought to be

proclaimed with the joy of a spirit-filled

follower of Christ; amen ought to be

proclaimed like we truly enjoy being

identified as a disciple of Jesus; amen

ought to be proclaimed loud enough to be

heard by the one who is distributing

communion to you. O how sad it is when

communion is distributed and no response

of amen can be heard, or sadder still it

receives no response other than the nod of

a head. The church is not asking us to

shout amen at the top of our voices when

we receive communion, we are just being

asked to respond in a way that can be

heard. We are so lucky here at Saint

Francis that people for the most part

respond with an amen that can be heard,

for this I thank you for your public example

of faith – keep up the good work.

~ Father Tim, CR

WEAR RED! Next weekend we celebrate the

Solemnity of Pentecost. Please

wear red, or any flame colour, as

we celebrate God’s gift of the

Holy Spirit to ignite our lives.

MARILLAC PLACE

BABY BOTTLE CAMPAIGN Today is Mother’s Day and St. Francis Parish is

proud to participate in the baby bottle

campaign in support of Marillac Place. Marillac

relies heavily on the donations from our

community to keep its doors open. Baby

Bottles are available at the entrances of the

church starting this weekend. Please take one

home, fill it with your spare change and return

it to the church on Father’s Day. All proceeds

from the campaign will go directly to the

operations of Marillac Place. For more

information visit www.marillacplace.ca or call

519-571-0722. You can also donate online

through a one-time donation, or through

monthly donations. Thank you for supporting

Marillac Place; in doing so you are supporting

the dignity of human life and women who may

feel they have no choices in their lives. Thank

you for caring for our sisters in need.

WELCOME TO OUR

SEMINARIAN! Fr. Tim has been asked by his congregation to

help a seminarian learn the ropes of parish life

through working and living at St. Francis. Fr.

Tim has asked us all to welcome this young

man during his year or so with us, and give him

feedback as he learns what parish life is like.

This year of work precedes his ordination to

priesthood and is the final step in that process.

Our seminarian will be arriving sometime in

May so we will soon be getting to know him

and what has led him to the vocation of

priesthood. The parish team and Fr. Tim are

looking forward to this exciting new journey,

and we thank you in advance for embracing

the journey with us!

PRAYER NETWORK If you or someone you love is in need of

prayers, we have dedicated parishioners who

want to pray for you. It’s confidential, just call

the Parish Office to request an intention. Let

us bring the power of prayer to your life.
