It takes a dedicated group of snowmobilers to have asuccessful snowmobile club. The present club is 89 strong,but just like any other club, there are only a handful ofpeople doing all the work. Many members believe it is timeto educate the community as to how it can help. The HodagSno-Trails club members are a group of volunteers whosign, brush and groom trails for the pure passion of thesport, without personal financial gain.Here are some fact that you may not know:
1. The club maintains 150 miles of trails, 95 miles ofwhich the club receives funding for, while 55 miles aremaintained at the club’s expense.
2. Without the generosity of our local landowners, thetrails would not exist.
3. Every snow season, trails have to be rerouted and newtrails created to replace trails that have been closed.
4. Before every snow season, bridges have to be built ormaintained, culverts put in, bulldozing, grading, treeremoval, brushing and sign erection.
5. It takes approximately $300,000 in groomingequipment to maintain the trails.
6. Volunteers use their personal equipment at their ownexpense to work on these trails.
7. Expenses include insurance, upkeep and repair ofgrooming equipment, trail development and maintenanceand financial costs.
Where does the money come from to maintain the trails?Our snowmobile registration fees and gas tax providefunding on 95 of the club’s 150 miles of trails. Withoutrevenue from map ads club sponsored fundraisers to make up the shortfall, the club cannot meet its expenses.
What does the club need from you? Join and become anactive member. Support our fundraisers, raffles and mapads. Sponsor a fundraiser. We need your help.

Hodag Sno-Trails, Rhinelander’s original snowmobile club, has built and maintainsover 140 miles of scenic, adventuroustrails. The Hodags own and operate a
2012 Piston Bully, a Prinoth Husky, and aFendt tractor to keep the trails aroundRhinelander unbelievably smooth.
