Fortnightly Bulletin for Students & Families “Achievement is outstanding because every student matters” Ofsted 2013 @VictoryAcad /OrmistonVictoryAcademy Dear Parents and Carers, We enjoyed a fantastic rewards evening last night to celebrate the outstanding achievements of some of our most talented young people. It was an honour to have special awards presented by our Chair of Governors, Trish Philips - and such a delight to see our Junior Ambassadors hosting the entire ceremony! Congratulations to everyone involved - and a special mention to our unsung hero, Charlie Cook, who handled the technical side of the night very ably. It's been another sunny fortnight at Victory - we have had some queries about blazers and the rules remain the same: children must bring their blazers to school and they are asked to wear them when travelling to and from lessons but I have reiterated to everyone this morning that they must be allowed to remove them at the start of each lesson and during lunch if the dining area is hot - obviously, if they are outside, they may remove them. I would ask you to ensure that your child has plenty to drink throughout the day - we have free squash available at lunch and the water dispensers are available. Our students are coming to the end of the Year 11, 12 and 13 examination block and have worked so hard. It's the turn of our younger students to sit their end of year examinations now. It is essential that that they have the chance to practice completing the more formal tests using the sports hall - we want them to feel prepared for later GCSE assessments when they are older. We very much enjoyed celebrating Kieran Palmer's award as an ambassador for rugby in the EDP this week - we are so proud of this recognition. If you have students completing revision, please encourage them to take regular breaks - we are in for a few more hot days and we are encouraging them to stay hydrated. Enjoy the good weather this weekend and thank you for our on-going support. Dear Parents and Carers,

We enjoyed a fantastic

rewards evening last night

to celebrate the

outstanding achievements

of some of our most

talented young people. It

was an honour to have

special awards presented

by our Chair of Governors, Trish

Philips - and such a delight to see our

Junior Ambassadors hosting the entire

ceremony! Congratulations to everyone involved - and a

special mention to our unsung hero, Charlie Cook, who

handled the technical side of the night very ably.

It's been another sunny fortnight at Victory - we have had

some queries about blazers and the rules remain the

same: children must bring their blazers to school and

they are asked to wear them when travelling to and from

lessons but I have reiterated to everyone this morning

that they must be allowed to remove them at the start of each lesson and during

lunch if the dining area is hot - obviously, if they are outside, they may remove them. I would ask you to

ensure that your child has plenty to drink throughout the day - we have free squash available at lunch

and the water dispensers are available.

Our students are coming to the end of the Year 11, 12 and 13 examination block and have worked so

hard. It's the turn of our younger students to sit their end of year examinations now. It is essential that

that they have the chance to practice completing the more formal tests using the sports hall - we want

them to feel prepared for later GCSE assessments when they are

older.

We very much enjoyed celebrating Kieran Palmer's award as an

ambassador for rugby in the EDP this week - we are so proud of

this recognition.

If you have students completing revision, please encourage them

to take regular breaks - we are in for a few more hot days and we

are encouraging them to stay hydrated.

Enjoy the good weather this weekend and thank you for our on-going support.

New Director of Science appointed

Ormiston Victory Academy is delighted to announce the

appointment of our new Director of Science, Miss Anneliese

Lenzen.

Miss Lenzen joins us from Sprowston High School and is already

busy working on plans for the department in September.

Miss Lenzen said:

”I have just started at Ormiston Victory Academy as Director of

Science. I wanted to take this opportunity to tell the parents and

students a little about myself. My favourite thing about my job is

being in the classroom; I love teaching Science (especially

Physics!) and want everyone else to be able to experience that. I

join Ormiston Victory from Sprowston High School where I have

been for five years, having previously taught in Thetford and

Great Yarmouth. I'm really looking forward to working with the

staff and students here. Since joining recently I have been made really welcome and met some great

staff and students. If you see me in the corridor please say hello!”

Miss Palmer, Principal, said:

“I am delighted we have appointed such an exceptional leader to our science department. I am so glad

Miss Lenzen has been able to join us before the end of the year to get a head start on putting her

exciting ideas into practice.”
