FORWARD MARKETS COMMISSION, MUMBAI

Highlights/ Important Developments for the fortnight from 1.12.2012 to 15.12.2012

Total value of trading at the Commodity Exchanges during the fortnight, 1st December, 2012 to 15th December,

2012 was`6,88,767.70 crore. The cumulative value of trade from 1stApril, 2012 upto 15th December, 2012 during

the financial year 2012-13 was `123,15,609.81 crore. The corresponding figures for the previous year were

`8, 23,907.63 crore and`130, 57,742.60 crore respectively.

The Commission, on 5th December, 2012 approved amendment to the bye-laws of ICEX for insertion of Chapter 17

of the Bye-laws of Exchange regarding Regulatory Framework for Market Access through Authorized Persons.

The Commission on 10th December 2012, conveyed in principle approval to the proposal of MCX for conducting

media campaign and awareness programme from interest income of IPF.

The proposal of NCDEX for recovery of arbitration costs and payment of award amounts to constituent in respect

of Bhavishya Advisory and Comtrade (India) Pvt. Ltd. has been approved by the Commission on 11th December 2012.

The Commission, on 13th December 2012 approved amendment to Rule 5.33.10 of the Rules of the ACE Derivatives

and Commodity Exchange Limited, Mumbai. As per this amendment, the initial security deposit will be refunded to

the member only after 3 years from the date of issue of advertisement with respect to surrender of membership

so that the deposit will be available with the Exchange in case any arbitration is filed within the 3 years.

The Commission conveyed its approval to the proposal of the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Ltd.

(NCDEX) for acquisition of 65% stake of National Stock Exchange India Ltd. in the National Commodity Clearing

Limited (NCCL) on 13th December 2012.

The Commission, on 4th December, 2012 approved the appointment of i) Mr. Sherif Marakkar, and ii) Prof. Sunil

Kumar Maheshwari as Independent Directors on the Board of National Board of Trade Ltd (NBOT), Indore for a

period up to 31/03/2014 from the date of issue of the letter.

The Commission, on 4th December, 2012 approved the appointment of i) Mr. Harsh Bhagchnakda as Independent

Directors on the Board of Bombay Commodity Exchange Ltd (BCEL), Mumbai for a period up to 31/03/2014 from

the date of issue of the letter.

The Commission, on 11th December, 2012 approved the appointment of i) Mr. Pradeesh Lawrence, ii) Mr. MSA

Kumar as Independent Directors on the Board of Rajdhani Oils and Oilseeds Exchange Ltd., Delhi for a period up

to 31/03/2014 from the date of issue of the letter.
