This, however, was not the case for Motsamai Ramphadime (38) from the Namahadi Village in Qwaqwa. Ramphadime is now disabled and will never be able to use his left hand again. A muscle in his middle finger was allegedly severed by a doctor at the Elizabeth Ross Hospital in Qwaqwa. “The doctor immediately made me aware that he had made a mistake and told me to leave the hospital and to never come back. The doctor vanished into thin air and some say he has been transferred to Johannesburg. “He said I should go to the local clinic and ask for help. I told him that the clinic had referred me to the hospital. He ignored me and left me in my hospital bed,” he said. He said the doctor had taken his file which he had never seen after the incident. “I asked for my file, but they did not have it,” he said. Ramphadime said he had gone to the hospital in 2012 for help. “I was chopping wood at home and a piece got stuck in my finger. I went to the Namahadi Clinic and they told me that I should go to hospital because they would have to operate to remove it.” A fuming Ramphadime said manage- ment at the hospital had been aware of his situation, because he had reported it to them after it had happened. “I went to report the matter to Bongi Mthimkulu, the acting chief executive officer (CEO). I asked her what was going to happen with my damaged hand. She promised to attend to the matter and to call him but she never did. “Every time I go to the hospital looking for her, I am told that she is working at the Manapo Regional Hospi- tal,” he said. Mthimkulu said she was not aware of the incident. “I don’t remember anyone coming to my office with that problem. “If it did happen, it must have been a while ago. What I do know, is that I attend to every complaint, whether it is big or small. “If a patient is injured, we follow it up until the offenders have been dealt with,” she said. She said she had been very busy since becoming manager of the Manapo Regional Hospital, but added that this would not make her shy away from the community. “I am always available. My secretary is always there and if I am needed for urgent matters, she calls me on my cell phone,” she said. ) Have you experienced a similar incident at the Elizabeth Ross Hospi- tal? “AND we know that in all things Godworks for the good of those who love Him,who’ve been called according to His pur-pose.” Romans 8:28 (NIV)“Why is life so hard?” Do you ever find

yourself asking this question becauseyou’re frustrated by circumstances in yourlife?Frustration is the result of living in a

world that is broken by sin. You cannotavoid suffering. There will be pain, and ifyou are not careful, that pain can lead tobitterness.Bitterness is a poison that will eat you

alive. It’s like a cancer to your heart. Whenyou become bitter towards someone, you donot hurt that person; you only hurtyourself. It is so easy to become envious and

jealous of others when life does not go theway we want it to. We begin to think: “It’snot fair. Why does that person have it soeasy when life is so tough for me?”It is very easy to become resentful in a

broken world. But envy and jealousy canquickly turn to bitterness, and bitternesswill eat you up.How do you keep from becoming bitter?

You choose. There will be pain in your life. The question is, are you going to allow itto make you a better person or a bitterperson? You can moan and groan andbecome bitter. Or you can stay sweet in asuffering world by remembering these fourthings:1. The Holy Spirit is praying for you.“[T]he Spirit himself speaks to God for us,and even begs God for us with deep feelings

that words cannot explain (Romans 8:26NCV).2. God uses everything for your good. “Andwe know in all things God works for thegood of those who love Him” (Romans 8:28NIV). God is bigger than your enemies. Heis bigger than your critics. He is biggerthan your problems. And he is working itall for good in your life.3. God wants you to succeed. “If God is forus, who can ever be against us?” (Romans8:31 NLT). God wants you to succeed in allthose areas where you are failing. He isrooting for you.4. God will give you what you need. “Andsince God did not spare even his own Sonbut gave him up for us all, won’t God, whogave us Christ, also give us everything else?”(Romans 8:32 NLT). God solved yourbiggest problem when he paid for all yoursins, including the ones you haven’t doneyet. If God cared enough to save you andgive you the gift of eternal life, don’t youthink he cares about the problems in yourdaily life? If it is big enough to worryabout, it is big enough to pray about. Andif you pray about it, you won’t have toworry about it.All of these things should remind you

that God is good and he is in control.
