The National Curriculum The National Curriculum has Attainment Targets for both Key Stage One and Key Stage Two. For both Key Stages there is a ‘E-Safety’ target, which focuses on supporting children to interact safely, responsibly and respectfully in the digital world. Key Stage One: use technology safely and respectfully, keeping personal information private; identify where to go for help and support when they have concerns about content or contact on the internet or other online technologies Key Stage Two: use technology safely, respectfully and responsibly; recognise acceptable/unacceptable behaviour; identify a range of ways to report concerns about content and contact.

How does Grange Farm teach E-safety?

• Each half term the children at Grange Farm have a different Computing focus.

• In Autumn of each year the entire school do a unit of work purely focusing on E-safety.

• Each unit is tailored to the needs and maturity of each year group.

• Year 6 have an additional E-safety unit at the end of the year in Summer where they will focus more specifically on themes to do with transition and moving on to big school.

Curriculum • The computing curriculum at Grange Farm involves using a variety

of hardware and software.

• In addition to a focused E-safety unit staff will also cover E-safety every half term as pupils are exposed to different devices, applications and online interactions.

• Every time children are introduced to new hardware and software staff will remind pupils of the core principles of E-Safety as well as giving specific guidelines that are

• relevant to that half term’s learning.

• Over each school year, children will then be able to apply their E-safety learning in a controlled and safe environment.

Some Top Tips

Make sure that your iPad, iPhone, tablet or device is set to always ask for a password, even when downloading free apps. Remember just because it appears to have a child’s theme doesn’t mean it is suitable!
