In year 1 we have looked at what the internet is and how we all use it at home and in school.

Year 1 used the internet at home mainly for

games and having fun.

We talked about personal information and keeping it safe.

We watched the cartoons of Hector’s World

and discussed the issues.

Then we used our paint package Kid Pix Deluxe to draw a picture and typed a sentence.

Then we played the Hector’s World games

about keeping safe and SMART.

In year 2 we discussed games on the internet and

instant messaging/chatting.

We watched the Lee and Kim video with Super SID keeping the children safe.

We then used Kid Pix Deluxe to type our top tips for keeping safe on the internet.

In Year 3 we looked at the SMART Crew and discussed the issues and dangers of the internet.

Then we used Kid Pix Deluxe to design a SMART poster on the rules.

We also played games on what you should do on the internet in different scenarios and answered questions on esafety.

is for safe. Do not give them your real name if your online if you do only give them your first name, Don’t tell them your email address, Don’t tell them what school you go to and last of all DON’T GIVE THEM YOUR PHONE NUMBER.

is for meeting. Meeting people is forbidden! If you meet someone online and you don’t know them and they send you friend request don’t click on ok .Before you do ask your parents but never add someone as a friend if you don’t know them .

is for accepting. Accepting messages can leave viruses on your computer. But if you DON’T know how they are and they send you a friend request NEVER reply or accept what they have sent to you.

is for reliable. REMEMBER that people online may NOT be who you think they are so DON’T rely on the person who’s sent the message because it might be a stranger. Is for tell. Tell a parent or a guardian if you get a nasty message but do it at an appropriate time.

is for smart! Do not ask people there password or there school and there phone number they could type to you and give you a nasty messages and if they come to your school they could bully you. And they could type to you online.

is for meeting! Do not meet people unless you now them. Meeting people is forbidden if someone you have met on the internet might not be who you think it is. They can give you advice of what to do. Do not meet them again or you can get into big trouble.

is for accepting! Emails messages people you don’t know is dangerous and people type to you it doesn’t mean you no them. is for reliable! Remember that people online may not be who you think it is and so online ‘friends’ are really strangers, no matter how many times you have chatted with them, unless you know and trust them in the ‘ offline world.’

is for tell! Tell an adult or a teacher if something nasty things come up on your phone a computer don’t be frightened or think you worries are stupid! If it’s you feel adults do care and will discuss your worries, just be careful to not choose times when adults seem pre-occupied!

is for safe. Never share your details such as your full name or your phone number or your password unless you know who they are. They might be a bully and might want to wreck your profile. is for meeting Only accept people who you’ve met before. If you haven’t met them decline them because they might send you rude and nasty messages. is for accepting. Only accept messages that aren’t rude. Decline the messages that are rude, nasty and give you that “uh oh” feeling inside is for reliable. Only add people who you know are reliable as a friend. Don’t add people who you can’t rely on. Do not add people such as: Cheryl Cole, Michael Jackson, or someone who has any cool name because is won’t be them. is for tell. Tell an adult if something online makes you feel uncomfortable.

In Years 5 and 6 we have looked at the concepts of the SMART rules and

cyberbullying.

We had discussions on how to keep safe on the internet and looked at using nicknames when on gaming sites, instant messaging.

We also looked at the dangers of the internet and SNS (Social Networking Sites).

We used the new software Comic Life to produce comic strips using our favourite

cartoon characters to get the messages of being safe and SMART on the internet

across.
