1.1 Children and vulnerable people safety• This appliance can be used by children aged from 8

years and above and persons with reduced physical,sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experienceand knowledge if they have been given supervision orinstruction concerning the use of the appliance in asafe way and understand the hazards involved.

• Children aged from 3 to 8 years are allowed to loadand unload the appliance provided that they havebeen properly instructed.

• This appliance may be used by persons with veryextensive and complex disabilities provided that theyhave been properly instructed.

• Children of less than 3 years of age should be keptaway from the appliance unless continuouslysupervised.

1.2 General Safety• This appliance is intended to be used in household

• Do not use water spray and steam to clean theappliance.

• Clean the appliance with a moist soft cloth. Only useneutral detergents. Do not use abrasive products,abrasive cleaning pads, solvents or metal objects.

• When the appliance is empty for long period, switch itoff, defrost, clean, dry and leave the door open toprevent mould from developing within the appliance.

• Do not store explosive substances such as aerosolcans with a flammable propellant in this appliance.

• If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced bythe manufacturer, its Authorised Service Centre orsimilarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.

2. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS2.1 Installation

WARNING!Only a qualified person mustinstall this appliance.

• Remove all the packaging.• Do not install or use a damaged

appliance.• Do not use the appliance before

installing it in the built-in structure dueto safety manner.

• Follow the installation instructionssupplied with the appliance.

• Always take care when moving theappliance as it is heavy. Always usesafety gloves and enclosed footwear.

• Make sure the air can circulatearound the appliance.

• At first installation or after reversingthe door wait at least 4 hours beforeconnecting the appliance to the powersupply. This is to allow the oil to flowback in the compressor.

• Before carrying out any operations onthe appliance (e.g. reversing thedoor), remove the plug from thepower socket.

• Do not install the appliance close toradiators or cookers, ovens or hobs.

• Do not expose the appliance to therain.

• Do not install the appliance wherethere is direct sunlight.

• Do not install this appliance in areasthat are too humid or too cold.

• When you move the appliance, lift itby the front edge to avoid scratchingthe floor.

• The appliance contains a bag ofdesiccant. This is not a toy. This is notfood. Please dispose of itimmediately.

2.2 Electrical connectionWARNING!Risk of fire and electricshock.

WARNING!When positioning theappliance, ensure the supplycord is not trapped ordamaged.

WARNING!Do not use multi-plugadapters and extensioncables.

• The appliance must be earthed.• Make sure that the parameters on the

rating plate are compatible with theelectrical ratings of the mains powersupply.

• Always use a correctly installedshockproof socket.

• Make sure not to cause damage tothe electrical components (e.g. mainsplug, mains cable, compressor).Contact the Authorised ServiceCentre or an electrician to change theelectrical components.

• The mains cable must stay below thelevel of the mains plug.

• Connect the mains plug to the mainssocket only at the end of theinstallation. Make sure that there is

access to the mains plug after theinstallation.

• Do not pull the mains cable todisconnect the appliance. Always pullthe mains plug.

2.3 UseWARNING!Risk of injury, burns, electricshock or fire.

The appliance contains flammablegas, isobutane (R600a), a natural gaswith a high level of environmentalcompatibility. Be careful not to causedamage to the refrigerant circuitcontaining isobutane.• Do not change the specification of this

appliance.• Do not put electrical appliances (e.g.

ice cream makers) in the applianceunless they are stated applicable bythe manufacturer.

• If damage occurs to the refrigerantcircuit, make sure that there are noflames and sources of ignition in theroom. Ventilate the room.

• Do not let hot items to touch theplastic parts of the appliance.

• Do not put soft drinks in the freezercompartment. This will createpressure on the drink container.

• Do not store flammable gas and liquidin the appliance.

• Do not put flammable products oritems that are wet with flammableproducts in, near or on the appliance.

• Do not touch the compressor or thecondenser. They are hot.

• Do not remove or touch items fromthe freezer compartment if your handsare wet or damp.

• Do not freeze again food that hasbeen thawed.

• Follow the storage instructions on thepackaging of frozen food.

• Wrap the food in any food contactmaterial before putting it in the freezercompartment.

2.4 Internal lightingWARNING!Risk of electric shock.

• Concerning the lamp(s) inside thisproduct and spare part lamps soldseparately: These lamps are intendedto withstand extreme physicalconditions in household appliances,such as temperature, vibration,humidity, or are intended to signalinformation about the operationalstatus of the appliance. They are notintended to be used in otherapplications and are not suitable forhousehold room illumination.

2.5 Care and cleaningWARNING!Risk of injury or damage tothe appliance.

• Before maintenance, deactivate theappliance and disconnect the mainsplug from the mains socket.

• This appliance contains hydrocarbonsin the cooling unit. Only a qualifiedperson must do the maintenance andthe recharging of the unit.

• Regularly examine the drain of theappliance and if necessary, clean it. Ifthe drain is blocked, defrosted watercollects in the bottom of theappliance.

2.6 Service• To repair the appliance contact the

Authorised Service Centre. Useoriginal spare parts only.

• Please note that self-repair or non-professional repair can have safetyconsequences and might void theguarantee.

• The following spare parts will beavailable for 7 years after the modelhas been discontinued: thermostats,temperature sensors, printed circuitboards, light sources, door handles,door hinges, trays and baskets.Please note that some of these spareparts are only available toprofessional repairers, and that not allspare parts are relevant for allmodels.

• Door gaskets will be available for 10years after the model has beendiscontinued.

2.7 DisposalWARNING!Risk of injury or suffocation.

• Disconnect the appliance from themains supply.

• Cut off the mains cable and discard it.• Remove the door to prevent children

and pets to be closed inside of theappliance.

• The refrigerant circuit and theinsulation materials of this applianceare ozone-friendly.

• The insulation foam containsflammable gas. Contact yourmunicipal authority for information onhow to discard the appliancecorrectly.

• Do not cause damage to the part ofthe cooling unit that is near the heatexchanger.

3.2 LocationTo ensure appliance's best functionality,you should not install the appliance in thenearby of the heat source (oven, stoves,radiators, cookers or hobs) or in a placewith direct sunlight. Make sure that aircan circulate freely around the back ofthe cabinet.This appliance should be installed in adry, well ventilated indoor position.This appliance is intended to be used atambient temperature ranging from 10°Cto 43°C.

The correct operation of theappliance can only beguaranteed within thespecified temperature range.

If you have any doubtsregarding where to install theappliance, please turn to thevendor, to our customerservice or to the nearestAuthorised Service Centre.

It must be possible todisconnect the appliancefrom the mains powersupply. The plug musttherefore be easilyaccessible after installation.

3.3 Electrical ConnectionCAUTION!Any electrical work requiredto install this applianceshould be carried out by aqualified electrician orcompetent person.

WARNING!This appliance must beearthed.The manufacturer declinesany liability should thesesafety measures not beobserved.

• A - green and yellow: Earth• C - brown: Live• D - blue: NeutralAs the colours of the wires in the mainslead of this appliance may notcorrespond with the coloured markingsidentifying the terminals in your plug,proceed as follows:1. Connect the wire coloured green and

yellow to the terminal marked eitherwith the letter “E“ or by the earthsymbol or coloured green andyellow.

2. Connect the wire coloured blue to theterminal either marked with the letter“N“ or coloured black.

3. Connect the wire coloured brown tothe terminal either marked with the“L“ or coloured red.

4. Check that no cut, or stray strands ofwire is present and the cord clamp(E) is secure over the outer sheath.Make sure the electricity supplyvoltage is the same as that indicatedon the appliance rating plate.

5. Switch on the appliance.The appliance is supplied with a 13 ampfuse (B). In the event of having tochange the fuse in the plug supplied, a13 amp ASTA approved (BS 1362) fusemust be used.

4.3 Temperature regulationTo operate the appliance, touch thetemperature regulator until the LEDcorresponding to the requiredtemperature lights up. Selection isprogressive, varying from 2°C to 8°C.Recommended setting is 4°C.1. Touch temperature regulator.Current temperature indicator blinks. Anytime you touch the temperatureregulator, the setting moves by oneposition. The corresponding LED blinksfor a while.2. Touch the temperature regulator until

the required temperature is selected.The set temperature will bereached within 24 hours.After a power failure the settemperature remains stored.

4.4 FastFreeze functionThe FastFreeze function is used toperform pre-freezing and fast freezing insequence in the freezer compartment.This function accelerates the freezing offresh food and, at the same time,protects food products already stored inthe freezer compartment fromundesirable warming.

To freeze fresh food activatethe FastFreeze function atleast 24 hours before placingthe food to complete pre-freezing.

To activate FastFreeze function pressthe FastFreeze button. The FastFreezeindicator switches on.

This function stopsautomatically after 52 hours.

It is possible to deactivate the function atany time by pressing FastFreeze button

again. The FastFreeze indicator switchesoff.

4.5 Door open alarmIf the fridge door is left open forapproximately 5 minutes, the sound ison.During the alarm the sound can bemuted by pressing any button. Thesound switches off automatically afteraround one hour to avoid disturbing.The alarm deactivates after closing thedoor.

5. DAILY USE5.1 Positioning the doorshelvesTo permit storage of food packages ofvarious sizes, the door shelves can beplaced at different heights.1. Gradually pull the shelf up until it

comes free.2. Reposition as required.

5.2 Movable shelvesThe walls of the refrigerator are equippedwith a series of runners so that theshelves can be positioned as desired.

Do not move the glass shelfabove the vegetable drawerto ensure correct aircirculation.

5.3 Vegetable drawersThere are special drawers in the bottompart of the appliance suitable for storageof fruits and vegetables.

5.4 Humidity controlThe glass shelf incorporates a devicewith slits (adjustable by means of asliding lever), which makes it possible toregulate the humidity in the vegetabledrawer(s).

The position of the humidity controldepends on the type and on the amountof fruits and vegetables:• Slots closed: recommended when

there is a small amount of fruits andvegetables. In this way, the naturalmoisture content in fruits andvegetables is preserved longer.

• Slots opened: recommended whenthere is a big amount of fruits andvegetables. In this way, more aircirculation results in a lower airmoisture.

5.5 Freezing fresh foodThe freezer compartment is suitable forfreezing fresh food and storing frozenand deep-frozen food for a long time.To freeze fresh food activate theFastFreeze function at least 24 hoursbefore placing the food to be frozen inthe freezer compartment.Store the fresh food evenly distributed inall compartments or drawers.The maximum amount of food that canbe frozen without adding other fresh foodduring 24 hours is specified on the ratingplate (a label located inside theappliance).When the freezing process is complete,the appliance automatically returns to theprevious temperature setting (see"FastFreeze Function").

In this condition, thetemperature inside therefrigerator might changeslightly.

5.6 Storage of frozen foodWhen activating an appliance for the firsttime or after a period out of use, beforeputting the products in the compartmentlet the appliance run at least 3 hours withthe FastFreeze function switched on.The freezer drawers ensure that it isquick and easy to find the food packageyou want. If large quantities of food areto be stored, remove all drawers, exceptfor the bottom drawer which needs to bein place to provide good air circulation.Keep the food no closer than 15 mmfrom the door.

CAUTION!In the event of accidentaldefrosting, for example dueto a power failure, if thepower has been off forlonger than the value shownon rating plate under "risingtime", the defrosted foodmust be consumed quicklyor cooked immediately thencooled and then re-frozen.

5.7 ThawingDeep-frozen or frozen food, prior tobeing consumed, can be thawed in therefrigerator or inside a plastic bag undercold water.This operation depends on the timeavailable and on the type of food. Smallpieces may even be cooked still frozen.

5.8 Ice-cube productionThis appliance is equipped with one ormore trays for the production of ice-cubes.

Do not use metallicinstruments to remove thetrays from the freezer.

6. HINTS AND TIPS6.1 Hints for energy saving• Freezer: The internal configuration of

the appliance is the one that ensuresthe most efficient use of energy.

• Fridge: Most efficient use of energy isensured in the configuration with thedrawers in the bottom part of theappliance and shelves evenlydistributed. Position of the door binsdoes not affect energy consumption.

• Do not open the door frequently orleave it open longer than necessary.

• Freezer: The colder the temperaturesetting, the higher the energyconsumption.

• Fridge: Do not set too hightemperature to save energy unless itis required by the characteristics ofthe food.

• If the ambient temperature is high andthe temperature control is set to lowtemperature and the appliance is fullyloaded, the compressor may runcontinuously, causing frost or iceformation on the evaporator. In thiscase, set the temperature controltoward higher temperature to allowautomatic defrosting and to saveenergy this way.

• Ensure a good ventilation. Do notcover the ventilation grilles or holes.

6.2 Hints for freezing• Activate FastFreeze function at least

24 hours before placing the foodinside the freezer compartment.

• Before freezing wrap and seal freshfood in: aluminium foil, plastic film orbags, airtight containers with lid.

• For more efficient freezing andthawing divide food into smallportions.

• It is recommended to put labels anddates on all your frozen food. This willhelp to identify foods and to knowwhen they should be used before theirdeterioration.

• The food should be fresh when beingfrozen to preserve good quality.Especially fruits and vegetablesshould be frozen after the harvest topreserve all of their nutrients.

• Do not freeze bottles or cans withliquids, in particular drinks containingcarbon dioxide - they may explodeduring freezing.

• Do not put hot food in the freezercompartment. Cool it down at roomtemperature before placing it insidethe compartment.

• To avoid increase in temperature ofalready frozen food, do not placefresh unfrozen food directly next to it.Place food at room temperature in thepart of the freezer compartmentwhere there is no frozen food.

• Do not eat ice cubes, water ices or icelollies immediately after taking themout of the freezer. Risk of frostbites.

• Do not re-freeze defrosted food. If thefood has defrosted, cook it, cool itdown and then freeze it.

6.3 Hints for storage of frozenfood• Freezer compartment is the one

marked with .• The medium temperature setting

ensures good preservation of frozenfood products.Higher temperature setting inside theappliance may lead to shorter shelflife.

• The whole freezer compartment issuitable for storage of frozen foodproducts.

• Leave enough space around the foodto allow air to circulate freely.

• For adequate storage refer to foodpackaging label to see the shelf life offood.

• It is important to wrap the food in sucha way that prevents water, humidity orcondensation from getting inside.

6.4 Shopping tipsAfter grocery shopping:• Ensure that the packaging is not

damaged - the food could bedeteriorated. If the package is swollenor wet, it might have not been storedin the optimal conditions anddefrosting may have already started.

• To limit the defrosting process buyfrozen goods at the end of yourgrocery shopping and transport themin a thermal and insulated cool bag.

• Place the frozen foods immediately inthe freezer after coming back from theshop.

• If food has defrosted even partially, donot re-freeze it. Consume it as soonas possible.

• Respect the expiry date and thestorage information on the package.

6.6 Hints for fresh foodrefrigeration• Good temperature setting that

ensures preservation of fresh food isa temperature less than or equal to+4°C.Higher temperature setting inside theappliance may lead to shorter shelflife of food.

• Cover the food with packaging topreserve its freshness and aroma.

• Always use closed containers forliquids and for food, to avoid flavoursor odours in the compartment.

• To avoid the cross-contaminationbetween cooked and raw food, coverthe cooked food and separate it fromthe raw one.

• It is recommended to defrost the foodinside the fridge.

• Do not insert hot food inside theappliance. Make sure it has cooleddown at room temperature beforeinserting it.

• To prevent food waste the new stockof food should always be placedbehind the old one.

6.7 Hints for food refrigeration• Fresh food compartment is the one

marked (on the rating plate) with .• Meat (all types): wrap in a suitable

packaging and place it on the glassshelf above the vegetable drawer.Store meat for at most 1-2 days.

• Fruit and vegetables: clean thoroughly(eliminate the soil) and place in aspecial drawer (vegetable drawer).

• It is advisable not to keep the exoticfruits like bananas, mangos, papayasetc. in the refrigerator.

• Vegetables like tomatoes, potatoes,onions, and garlic should not be keptin the refrigerator.

• Butter and cheese: place in an airtightcontainer or wrap in an aluminium foilor a polythene bag to exclude asmuch air as possible.

• Bottles: close them with a cap andplace them on the door bottle shelf, or(if available) on the bottle rack.

• Always refer to the expiry date of theproducts to know how long to keepthem.

7. CARE AND CLEANINGWARNING!Refer to Safety chapters.

7.1 Cleaning the interiorBefore using the appliance for the firsttime, the interior and all internalaccessories should be washed withlukewarm water and some neutral soapto remove the typical smell of a brand-new product, then dried thoroughly.

CAUTION!Do not use detergents,abrasive powders, chlorineor oil-based cleaners as theywill damage the finish.

CAUTION!The accessories and parts ofthe appliance are notsuitable for washing in adishwasher.

7.2 Periodic cleaningThe equipment has to be cleanedregularly:1. Clean the inside and accessories

with lukewarm water and someneutral soap.

2. Regularly check the door seals andwipe them clean to ensure they areclean and free from debris.

3. Rinse and dry thoroughly.

7.3 Defrosting of therefrigeratorFrost is automatically eliminated from theevaporator of the refrigeratorcompartment during normal use. Thedefrost water drains out through a troughinto a special container at the back of theappliance, over the motor compressor,where it evaporates.It is important to periodically clean thedefrost water drain hole in the middle ofthe refrigerator compartment channel toprevent the water overflowing anddripping onto the food inside.For this purpose use the tube cleanerprovided with the appliance.

7.4 Defrosting of the freezerCAUTION!Never use sharp metal toolsto scrape off frost from theevaporator as you coulddamage it.Do not use a mechanicaldevice or any artificialmeans to speed up thethawing process other thanthose recommended by themanufacturer.

About 12 hours prior todefrosting set a lowertemperature in order to buildup sufficient chill reserve incase of any interruption inoperation.

A certain amount of frost will always formon the freezer shelves and around thetop compartment.Defrost the freezer when the frost layerreaches a thickness of about 3-5 mm.1. Switch off the appliance or pull out

electrical plug from the wall socket.2. Remove any stored food and put it in

a cool place. CAUTION!A temperature rise of thefrozen food packs duringdefrosting may shortentheir safe storage life.Do not touch frozengoods with wet hands.Hands can freeze to thegoods.

3. Leave the door open. Protect thefloor from the defrosting water e.g.with a cloth or a flat vessel.

4. In order to speed up the defrostingprocess, place a pot of warm water inthe freezer compartment. In addition,remove pieces of ice that break awaybefore defrosting is complete.

5. When defrosting is complete, dry theinterior thoroughly.

6. Switch on the appliance and closethe door.

7. Set the temperature regulator toobtain the maximum coldness andrun the appliance for at least 3 hoursusing this setting.

Only after this time put the food back intothe freezer compartment.

7.5 Period of non-operationWhen the appliance is not in use for longperiod, take the following precautions:1. Disconnect the appliance from

electricity supply.2. Remove all food.3. Defrost the appliance.4. Clean the appliance and all

accessories.5. Leave the doors open to prevent

unpleasant smells.
