Game NotesLast Time Out: It has been nearly a month since the Soar-ing Eagles last played when Elmira hosted SUNY Potsdam for a pair of ECAC West contests. Elmira swept the week-end series with the Bears, outscoring Potsdam 15-1 in EC’s two victories.

Big Weekend for Ry: Ashley Ryan ’15 continued to wreak havoc on opposing defenses, with her latest victim being SUNY Potsdam. In two games, Ryan logged nine points on two goals and seven assists. Her nine-point weekend solidified her spot as the nation’s leading point-scorer with 2.60 points per game.

Lethal PP Unit: Elmira’s power-play unit has played a large role in EC’s success this season as the Purple and Gold have scored on 33.9 percent of their power-play chances, the third-best percentage in the country. Leading the charge on the power play has been Cassidy Delainey ’15 and Ashton Hogan ’15. Delainey is tied for the national lead with six power-play goals while Hogan is tied for third with five power-play scores.

Looking Ahead: Following today’s contest, EC will host No. 3 nationally ranked Norwich University on Sunday, January 11th at 3:00 p.m. at the Murray Athletic Center Ice Arena.

Game NotesA Look at the Panthers Middlebury College enters today’s contest with a 5-2-0 overall record and a No. 4 national ranking. Carrying the offensive load for the Panthers has been senior Emily Fluke ’15 who has 13 points on five goals and eight assists.

Options in Net: Middlebury has split time in net between Madeline Marsh ’15 and Annabelle Jones ’15. Although, Marsh has started in three of Middlebury’s last four games. Marsh boats an unblemished 4-0-0 record and a team-lead-ing 86 saves. Jones is 1-2-0 on the year with 58 saves. His-torically, Jones has gotten the call more times than not as she owns a career mark of 40-12-9 compared to Marsh’s 12 career appearances.

Penalty Kill Specialists: In seven games, Middlebury has gone on the penalty kill 26 times and has allowed just two goals on those chances. Middlebury’s 92.3 penalty kill suc-cess rate is the third-best percentage in the country. Howev-er, of Middlebury’s two power-play goals allowed, Elmira’s Phoebe Piku ’16 can put her name to one of them.

Series History: The Panthers hold a slight edge in the all-time series, 10-7-1. However, Elmira boasts the most recent victory in the series, a 4-1 win at this year’s Cardinal-Pan-ther Classic.
