Game NotesLast Time Out: Elmira suffered a pair of ECAC West Con-ference losses to Nazareth College in their last weekend series. The Soaring Eagles trailed 1-0 after the first 20 min-utes of play but a second period power-play goal by Tommy Sumi ’16 evened things at one apiece. Unfortunately, the Golden Flyers would knock-in a late goal in the third pe-riod, sinking Elmira’s hopes of a comeback as the Purple and Gold fell on the road, 2-1.

Sixth in the Nation: Jarryd ten Vaanholt ’16 has been a steady point contributor for the Soaring Eagles this year, much of which has to do with his ability to rack up assists. ten Vaanholt leads the ECAC West in assists with 19 and his 0.95 assists per game average is the sixth-highest in all of NCAA Division III men’s ice hockey.

Looking to Break the Streak: Elmira is 1-3 in their last four games and have dropped two straight contests, their second-longest winless streak of the year. However, follow-ing Elmira’s three-game skid earlier this season, the Soaring Eagles pieced together their longest unbeaten streak of the 2014-15 season, going 4-0-1 in their next five games.

Looking Ahead: Elmira will be back in action tomorrow when the Soaring Eagles conclude their two-game series with Neumann University. Faceoff is set for 7:00 p.m.

Game NotesA Look at Neumann: The Knights of Neumann University enter tonight’s ECAC West Conference tilt with a 9-7-4 overall record and a 5-4-1 mark in conference play. Neu-mann has not done as well as they hoped in their last six games, going 1-3-2 in those contests, with two of those loss-es coming against conference foe Hobart College.

Road Woes: One thing Neumann has done well this year is protecting their home ice, going 6-3-1 in home games. However, this weekend’s series in Pine Valley, NY should give the edge to Elmira, as the Knights are 2-2-3 in true road games and 3-3-3 in all games played away from their home rink at the IceWorks Skating Complex. Although, the Knights have shown they can win big road games, as evidenced by their 4-0 drubbing of former No. 4 Adrian College back in November.

Disastrous Second Period: In Neumann’s January 30th matchup with Hobart College, the Knights entered the second period tied with the Statesmen, 1-1. However, five second-period goals from Hobart resulted in a 6-2 loss for Neumann. The five goals surrendered in the second pe-riod are the most Neumann has allowed in a single-period since the 2008-09 season when Utica College scored five third-period goals en route to a 7-5 win over the Knights.
