Game Notes (does not include yesterday’s game)Leading the Purple and Gold: Jarryd ten Vaanholt ’16 leads the Soaring Eagles offensively this season with 10 points off of two goals and a team-leading eight assists. He has averaged 1.0 assists per game, ranking him tied for 14th in the nation.

1,000 On The Horizon: In 36 career games, Ryan deMelo ’15 has produced 964 saves. He is only 36 saves away from reaching the 1,000 save mark. With 964 career saves, de-Melo is 260 away from moving into a two-way tie for 11th place on Elmira College’s all-times list for career saves with former All-American Tony Mongillo ’88.

Multiple Power-Play & Shorthanded Goal Game: In the 7-2 win over Fredonia State, Elmira scored two power-play goals and two short-handed goals. This is the first time the EC men have score multiple shorthanded and power-play goals in the same game since January 27th, 2012 when El-mira tallied two short-handed goals and three power-play scores in a 7-2 win over Manhattanville College.

Looking Ahead: Elmira will not compete again for a month as the EC men will take a break until January 6th when the Soaring Eagles take on Buffalo State at the Murray Athletic Center at 7:00 p.m.

In their most recent contest, Wesleyan snapped a four-game losing streak with a 6-1 win over UMass Dartmouth on No-vember 30th. James Kline ’17 led the Cardinals with two goals and two assists.

Scouting Wesleyan: James Kline ’17 leads the Cardinals offensively with eight points off of five goals and three as-sists, while James Albrect ’15 has set up the attack with five assists. Defensively, Dawson Sprigings ’17 has been the go-to-guy as he has a 2-3-1 record with 154 saves, a .906 save percentage, and a 3.22 goals against average.

All-Time vs. Wesleyan: The Soaring Eagles and the Cardi-nals have only competed against each other twice prior to today’s matchup. Each team has skated away with a win as the all-time series is deadlocked at 1-1. The last time the two teams played against each other was on December 29th, 2012 when the Wesleyan claimed a 5-2 win on neutral ice at the Cardinal Classic.
