Game NotesLast Time Out: The EC women are coming off a 4-1 loss to the Cardinals of St. John Fisher College. Fisher took control of the game early, scoring three goals in the first half, then added their fourth goal 3:23 into the second half of play. Elmira regrouped and denied any more scoring at-tempts from the Cardinals for the remainder of the game. The Purple and Gold’s offense finally broke through 13:14 into the second half when Megan Brain ’18 received a pass from Hollie Gravelle ’18 and punched it home, making the score, 4-1. However, the Soaring Eagles ran out of time before completing the comeback.

Career First’s: In the 4-1 loss to the Cardinals of St. John Fisher, Hollie Gravelle ’18 found Megan Brain ’18 who scored Elmira’s lone goal of the day. This marks Gravelle’s first career assist and Brain’s first career goal.

Senior’s Last Stand: This Saturday marks the last home game for two members of the EC field hockey team. Both defenders, Lauren Kirkland ’15 and Kourtny Schwerdt-man ’15, have been a big part of the Purple and Gold for all four years.

Looking Ahead: The Purple and Gold will compete in EC’s final game of the season on Wednesday, October 29th. when Elmira travels to the University of Rochester. The game is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m.

Game NotesA Look At Houghton: The Highlanders of Houghton Col-lege are coming into today’s game with a 3-12 overall record and a 0-6 mark in the Empire 8 Conference. Houghton started the season winning two of the first three games, but since then has won only one of the past 12. The Highland-ers are coming off a 5-1 loss to SUNY Geneseo on Octo-ber 21st. After falling behind 1-0, Alyson Demerchant ’18 scored to tie the game at 1-1. Geneseo would go on to score four unanswered goals for the win.

Scoring Options: Hannah Zqrablich ’15 leads the High-landers with 13 points off of five goals and three assists, while Kristin McKane ’16 is right behind her with 10 points off five goals. Kelsie Ashley ’17 has set up the attack this season with six assists.

In the Cage: Elizabeth Pisker ’18 has seen every minute be-tween the posts for Houghton this season. She has tallied 152 saves with a 3.27 goals against average and has one shutout this season. She ranks third in the conference in saves per game with 10.00.

All-Time Series: The Highlanders hold a 7-2 all-time ad-vantage over the Soaring Eagles. In the past two seasons, Houghton and Elmira have split games with both decided by one goal.
