ISO/TC8 N1000 R12 Status report page 2 General introduction This “living” comprehensive document is regularly updated, based upon information collected from documents and reports from the Sub Committees and Working Groups. The permanent document number ISO/TC 8 N 1000 will be retained, also for future revisions of this document (to be indicated by R 1, R 2 etc.). The current version of this document is Appendix 1 “Work programme details” to the ISO/TC 8 Business Plan. Scope, structure and programme of work of ISO/TC 8 and subcommittees This part of the document contains the scopes and structure of ISO/TC 8 and its subcommittees, as well as the allocation of existing standards and (proposed) work items to these SC’s and WG’s. A distinction is made between “Registered Work Items” that are formally approved and registered in the program of work of ISO and “Possible new work items”. These “Possible new work items” can range from just suggestion that some item could be worthwhile studying (Preliminary stage) up to items for which a new project is under review (Proposal Stage). For ease of reference all items have been given an internal ISO/TC 8 work item number e.g. [01.01], indicating the SC and a two digit reference number. Annex D gives some statistical information on the number of work items assigned to each ISO/TC 8 subcommittee. Work items of mutual interest to IMO and ISO/TC8 Several work items are regarded to be of mutual interest to ISO/TC 8 and the International Maritime Organization IMO. These items are either requested by IMO or are initiated by ISO/TC 8 itself. These items are indicated by an IMO-link –NR. The IMO-link-NR refers to the list in Annex A of this document. The relevant IMO Resolutions and the titles of subjects are given in Annex B. Further Annexes Annex C : index on ISO standard numbers with references to the internal ISO/TC 8 work item number and the IMO-link-NR. Annex E : assignment of IMO-link-NR’s to the different ISO/TC 8 and IMO bodies, thus indicating the major fields of common interest. Annex F : explanation of ISO stage codes. Annex G : Table of the participating and observing Countries within ISO/TC 8 and its SCs. Annex H : List of the Chairmen and the Secretaries in TC8/Subcommittees. Before the ISO/TC8/AG meeting in October 2006 target date: DIS : 2006-11-30, FDIS : 2007-02-28, IS : 2007-08-31, at the ISO/TC8/AG meeting in October 2006 approved target date: DIS : 2007-11-30, FDIS : 2008-02-28, IS : 2008-08-31 at the ISO/TC8/AG meeting in June 2007 approved target date: DIS : 2007-11-30, FDIS : 2008-11-30, IS : 2009-05-31, Even though Target Date of DIS was approved to 2007-11-30 at AG meeting in October 2006, ISO/CS

cancelled this item on 2007-02-05. After AG meeting in June 2007, TC8 Secretary requested ISO/CS to revive this item with Approved Target

Dates, but there is no reply until now from ISO/CS. The target dates need to be updated at ISO/CS.

Page 34: Draft_2009

ISO/TC8 N1000 R12 Status report page 34

Justification: WG3 Convener requested the revised target date for Part 2. There are more than 70 numerical formulas, and it is difficult to verify them numerically and experimentally, so

he says he needs more time to develop this work item. The revised target date which was approved at AG meeting should be updated at ISO/CS database.

ICOMIA A • IMO *: Any SCs who need to deal with IMO Matters must go exclusively via the Chairman to insure

coordination and integration within ISO/TC8 and all SCs. • In each case where a SC needs liaison with an external body or other TC, the coordination will be through

the TC or SC named as principal interface in this document. This document establishes the "lead SC /TC concept" where we will insure a coordinated and unified TC8 position. Any liaison difficulties arising will be referred to the Chairman, ISO/TC8 for resolution.
