HEADLINESChana futures up 0.75 pc on better spot demand.

Chana prices rose by Rs 25 to Rs 3,358 per quintal in future

trade as speculators enlarged their positions on ris ing deman

in the spot market. Restricted arrivals in the physical marke

also influenced the chana prices at futures trade. At th

National Commodity Derivatives Exchange, chana for Ma

contract rose Rs 25, or 0.75 per cent to Rs 3,358 per quinta

with an open interest of 47,320 lots.

Turmeric price increases

Turmeric prices gradually on the rise, trade sources here sai

they expected that it would touch Rs 7000 a quintal within

couple of days. Turmeric price, which was Rs 6527 a quintal i

January first week, had touched Rs 6989 a quintal. O

Thursday, the price of spot turmeric increased by Rs 250

quintal and hybrid variety by Rs 150 a quintal.
