Transcript of Can Camping Solve Your Insomnia? Tips for the 2017 Season
If you suffer from insomnia, you've probably at
least tried a handful of pills and home remedies
to rid yourself of the long, sleepless night and the
terrible drudgery of the morning. But have you
tried camping?
Just a single weekend of summer camping (or a
week of winter camping) can reset your internal
clock and lead to a better nights' sleep.
If you're wanting to try out camping for the first
time (or maybe it's just been a while since you've
gone), there are some tips you should adhere to
ensure you have a great trip.
Perhaps no trip is complete
without a checklist. When you're
going camping, especially for a
couple of days, chances are you
don't want to have to either run
right back home for or suffer
without an item that you really
needed. Starting out with a
checklist is a great way to make
going on a trip less stressful.
1 - HAVE A CHECK LIST.
While the thought of just
picking a place and watching
the night sky might sound
appealing, if you end up
squatting on someone's land
unannounced, you may find
yourself in some hot water. You
also don't want to pick a place
that is so far away you might get
lost. Find a place that appeals to
your sense of adventure, but
also one that is a) legal to camp
on, and b) easy for you to get to
and leave.
2 - KNOW WHERE YOU'RE GOING.
Part of the reason that camping
helps with insomnia so much is
that you aren't surrounded by
technology. Sure, you'll want to
bring your phone along so that
you can call for help if your car
breaks down, but don't turn
your camping trip into a tech
festival. Also, enjoy nature. Don't
spend most of your trip on your
phone. Take in the sights and
sounds. Go fishing. Try hunting.
Just do a little yoga in the clean,
fresh air.
3 - DITCH THE TECH!
While you may be able to skip
the shower for a day or two, you
should bring biodegradable
toilet paper along with you on
your trip. Whether you want to
take a more back-to-nature
route and use Mother Nature's
facilities or bring a camping
toilet is up to you. Bringing
along baby wipes to clean your
hands and a small first aid kit for
insect bites are also great ideas!
