The international bus market today is largely

shaped by enormous market and cost pressures.

More than ever before, the focus of endeavour is on

measures to improve economy. Performance must

be improved, effort reduced. More efficiency is th e

    order of the day.

How to get success going, thats the decisive

question. We at MAN have a convincing ans wer to

that. Because as a leading international manufac-

turer of buses and trucks we combine the highest

levels of competence with maximum efficiency. The

result: bus chassis that open up new directions for

your ideas. Innovative and reliable, dynamic and

    comfortable, powerful, economical and eco-

friendly leave cost pressure successfully behind

you with our easy-to-build-on bus chassis.

If experience and know-how play a fundamental

role in your choice of partner, place your trust in

MAN because with our chassis for bus bodies of all

types and weights, the crucial equipment comes as

    standard: maximum efficiency.

    Competence and efficiencyyou can trust.

Economical engines.Performance coupled with maximum efficiency:

this is what characterises MAN engines. In detail,

what this means is powerful acceleration starting

even at low engine speeds and supreme dynamics,

kilometre after kilometre. The innovative six-cylinder

engines with their common-rail injection, turbocharg-

ing and charge-air cooling are exemplary in their

economy and eco-friendlines s. To give you greater

freedom of design, the diesel engines are available

in horizontal and vertical versions and in compliance

with emission standards from Euro 3 to Euro 5 and

EEV. Natural-gas engines in horizontal design

    comply with the EEV standard.

    Efficiency en route.

Intelligent transmission. How does efficiency get on the road? Via the per-

fectly harmonised automatic gearbox, for example,

    whose topography-dependent gear-change pro-

grams not only reduce fuel consumption but also

increase driving dynamics and comfort. Or via the

automated 12-speed MAN TipMatic Coach gear-

box, which reduces consumption as well as wear

and tear, makes manoeuvring easier and pulling

away on slopes particularly comfortable, thanks to

    integrated EasyStart technology.

Efficient exhaust-gas management. The MAN PURE DIESEL concept is a unique

    technology with ground-breaking advantages. The

    combination of common-rail engine, cooled

exhaust-gas recirculation (EGR) and PM-KAT or

CRTec filter meets the Euro 5 standard. Some of

the engines also meet the even more stringent EEV

standard and that without any additi ves at all.

That means: you save the cost of maintenance an d

additive, need no extra tank for AdBlue , are inde-

pendent of the AdBlue infrastructure, and are also

rewarded by a considerable payload benefit com-

    pared to conventional SCR.

Everything OK, everything under control.Easy-to-read instruments, logically arranged con-

trols, all-round ergonomic design: the MAN drivers

workplace is outstanding for its functionality and

attention to every design detail. The focal point is

the drivers display with its on-board diagnosis for

monitoring operation and functions. Just a quick

glance and the driver knows w hats going on. And

the driver who always knows whats going on

simply drives more s afely. The four-spoke steering

wheel can be pneumatically adjusted in height and

    inclination. The optionally-available multifunction

steering wheel enables drivers to operate many of

the functions at the push of a button, without ever

having to take their hands off the wheel.

    Comfort with certainty.

Safe travelling. To guard against unpleasant surprises, disk brakes

and the electronic braking s ystem EBS keep brak-

ing distances short. Interaction with the anti-lock

braking system and traction control noticeably

improves braking safety and driving stability. The

retarder and the patented engine brake from MAN

put great braking power at the drivers disposal.

The combination of Bremsomat brake control and

Tempomat cruise control enables the vehicl e to

hold a preselected speed exactly, even on steep

downhill gradients. The optionally available elec-

tronic stability program ESP protects the bus

chassis against unpleasant surprises, for example

when suddenly avoiding obstacles or when corner-

ing too fast. ESP stabilises the vehicle whenever it

is at risk of skidding and keeps it safely in the lane.

Specialities as standard.Clever technical equipment is proof of MANs claim

to consistent efficiency, a claim which MAN also

makes for its bus chassis. The highly developed

front-axle location system for use in tourist coaches

increases ride comfort and optimises the handling

of the vehicle by reducing the turning circle. The

hinged charge-air cooler shortens the time needed

for maintenance because it can be cleaned very

comfortably and quickly. Advantageous is also the

    installation preparation for the air-conditioning

    compressor: the compressor mounting supplied

with the chassis makes installation a very simple

job. Moreover, the precision of the belt track

extends the service life of the V-belt.

Elegant cockpit for city and intercity buses.

    Ergonomic drivers workplace.

Innovative front-axle location system. Easy maintenance: hinged charge-air cooler.
