    Introduction

Purpose and limits of the manual

This document provides specific information that is of fundamental importance to ensure proper

use of the macros to design furniture. For this reason it is essential that you have a thorough

knowledge of the whole software interface described in the BiesseWorks instructions for use.

Given the complexity of the subjects dealt with, the procedures described in this document must

only be carried out by persons with the necessary technical expertise (qualified operators).

    Conventions

The text sections that must not be overlooked are highlighted and preceded by the symbols

    described and illustrated below.

The paragraphs marked with this symbol indicate an imminent danger, and the

contents must therefore be carefully taken into account in order to prevent serious

    different material (melamine, PVC, etc.).

which 90° scores are applied (“V” milling for folding), in order to obtain perfect corners and

    angles.

    1 Introduction

The Biesse Folding macros are used to design pieces of furniture using the “Folding” technique.

The term “Folding” refers to a construction system for pieces of furniture that involves folding a

single wooden panel on which scores are applied at ninety degrees, in order to obtain perfect

corners and angles (see figure 1).

    Figure 1

The necessary machining operations are designed and programmed with the aid of suitable

macros, which are to be called up inside the BPP document.

Find below the sequence of operations to be followed during the piece of furniture programming

    stage:

    1. Run the Editor  application software and display the corresponding toolbar using one of the

    following procedures:

    • click on menu Display and on the option Additions Toolbar  > BiesseFolding;

    • display the context menu of the menu bar and click on the option Additions Toolbar  >

    BiesseFolding.

If the BiesseFolding bar is not displayed, macros are disabled: in this case enable them (see

chapter related to the use of macros in the BiesseWorks instructions for use).

    1. Create a new document, ignoring the parameters in the dialogue box Piece variables.

    2. Call up the macros to design geometries (see section “Design macros”).

    3. Call up the necessary machining macros (see section “Machining macros”).

1.1 Description of macrosThe macros to be used can be grouped together as follows:

    “Design macros”

    “Machining macros”

    Design macros

    Machining macros

The macros in this group are used to insert the necessary machining operations according to the

type of tool used: circular blade or circular milling cutter.

    Button Description

Geometric parameter macros to define the profile of the piece of furniture on which

to make the channels (see section 2.1, page 11).

    Button Description

Macro to carry out rough cutting operations, to be applied before the actual

machining operation, or to finish the final shape, cutting the excess material(waste).

For a detailed description of this macro, see section 2.2, page 14.

Macro to make cuts using the circular milling cutter installed in an adjustable

spindle (see figure 2). Its application excludes the use of the macro . For a

detailed description of this macro, see section 2.3, page 14.

    2 Use of the macros

The following chapter includes the information on how to use the macros to program the wooden

panel machining using the “Folding” technique.

In the following paragraphs, only the specific parameters for each individual macro are

described. For the description of the technological parameters present on the dialogue

boxes, see the chapter corresponding to machining operation programming, in theBiesseWorks instructions for use.

2.1 Description of the macro Folding geometries

To call up the macro Folding geometries, click on . Fill in the data fields and confirm the

    settings by clicking on .

The parameters present in the dialogue box can be divided into three groups:

“General parameters”; general parameters, to be filled in according to your own requirements.

“Parameters to define the scores”; parameters to be filled in to create a piece of furniture

defining the channels positioning points with precision.

“Parameters to define the piece of furniture dimensions”; parameters to be filled in to create a

piece of furniture according to its dimensions: width, thickness and height. The filling in of

these parameters is overriding, i.e. it excludes filling in of the parameters that are part of the

group “Parameters to define the scores”.

    General parameters

ANG; angle of the score to be made in order to fold the wooden panel.

    P; score depth.

S; height of the chamfer present on the circular tool (blade or milling cutter) that will make the

score (figure 4). This parameter is only valid for the tools installed in an adjustable spindle.

    Figure 4

BOX; used to define the type of the piece of furniture.

    • 0 = piece of furniture without casing (figure 5).

    • 1 = open piece of furniture (figure 5).

    • 2 = closed piece of furniture (figure 5).
