HYGIENIC TUBE & SUPPORTS - Hygenic Tube

Hygienic tube manufactured to ASTM A270/A269 (DIN11850) is available from our extensive stocks in 304 and 316 grade, dull polished or descaled finish.

Tube is weld bead removed for a crack and crevice free internal bore and supplied in sizes from 1/2" diameter to 8" diameter. All of our polished tubes up and including 4” are supplied in individual plastic sleeves for on site cleanliness.

Special hygienic fittings and assemblies can be made to your specification whether it is a simple adaptor, a precision made component or pipework assembly produced from your own drawings.

We even undertake stainless steel constructions, e.g. benches, tanks and frames. Our Manufacturing web page shows the production capabilities we have at your disposal. Standard Adaptors are generally available from stock. They are supplied fully hygienic, crack and crevice free internals. Special Adaptors can be produced in any combination of the following:

HYGIENIC FITTINGS - Flanges

Flanges BDE stock a comprehensive range of flanges to suit both OD hygienic tube and NB schedule pipe. Available from stock in slip on weld plate, BSP screwed and blanks, we can also supply weld neck and forged to order. Standards include BS4504, BS10, ASA, DIN11864-2.

*Hygienic Flanges bored for use with hygienic tube, which are generally to the dimensions of BS 4504 but manufactured thinner to avoid the weight of a full thickness flange on 1.5mm wall hygienic tube.

Taft Collars / Backing Flanges consist of a pressed stainless collar with a loose backing flange. The backing flanges are free to swivel until tightened and are available in stainless or zinc plated steel.

Neoprene and Food Grade IBC gaskets are available to suit.”

HYGIENIC TUBE & SUPPORTS - Pipe Supports

B.D.E. (Northampton) offer a comprehensive range of support clips for tube and pipe.

Hinged pipe clips provide an easily maintainable clip, for support of hygienic tubes in the range ½” to 4” outside diameter tube. They are not recommended where vibration is present. These clips are supplied with a stainless boss which is tapped ½” BSP female.

Anti vibration clips are supplied with blue plastic inserts, and are suitable where vibration is present, for example near pumps. They can also be used without the blue inserts if required, where no vibration is present. Sizes are available to suit 1” to 10” outside diameter tube and are fitted with a ¾” diameter tube stem.

All of our range of clips can be supplied with mounting stems or threaded parts to suit your application. – Ask our sales team for your requirements.

Also available

Munsen type clips are manufactured from pressed stainless steel and are designed to fit the range ½” to 3” ASTM A312 nominal bore schedule tube. They are fitted with M8 threaded mounting nuts.

HYGIENIC UNION PARTS - RJT

The Ring Joint Type union commonly known as the RJT is by far the most popular hygienic union in the UK. The union conforms to BS 1864. It is commonly used for many applications in the dairy, brewery, food processing and general engineering industries.

The union consists of a hexagon nut made from grade 304 stainless, a male part and a liner both in grade 316 stainless. The joint ring is an ‘O’ ring section.

HYGIENIC UNION PARTS - Clamp

Clamp - Uses two ferrules clamped together with a sealing ring to form a superior hygienic union. The two ferrules have a tapered flange which when compressed by the clamp forms a tight hygienic seal. Widely used on continental Europe for many years they are now very popular in the UK.

The clamp can be removed by hand using the wing nut, no spanners required. This is particularly useful where the product line needs to be checked frequently.

Widely used in the pharmaceutical industry

Clamp unions are available in a wide range of sizes up to 10” ex stock

. Larger sizes are available on a short lead time.

Ferrules manufactured to BS4825 are normally 21.5mm however longer

lengths and nominal bore sizes are available on a short lead time Pharmaceutical internal finish to order

HYGIENIC UNION PARTS – IDF

The International Dairy Federation union.

Manufactured to specification BS 4825 Part 4.

Similar to an RJT union, with a nut in stainless Tp 304, liner and male part in Tp 316. The IDF fitting is considered to be a superior fitting to RJT as it has a smoother, cleaner bore reducing the possibility of bug traps etc. Ideal for use with CIP (Clean In Place) systems.

The seal is a T section. Normally available in nitrile.

The hexagon nut is thicker than RJT.

We stock the full range of 1” od to 4” od.

We stock blank liners in Tp 316 to suit the above.

HYGIENIC VALVES - Butterfly Valves

BDE Butterfly valves are generally stocked with plain weld ends and RJT male ends in the size range 1” to 4” to suit hygienic tube. Bodies are from 316 stainless forging, CNC machined to ensure total interchange-ability of body and disc.

Precision moulded seals are available in Silicone (standard), EPDM, Viton and PTFE to suit all applications.

Low torque ensures that valve actuation is reliably achieved, with the BDE range of pneumatic actuators which are fully stainless in design and as standard are fitted with a control box containing 2 micro switches and a 24v DC solenoid valve. HYGIENIC VALVES - Pressure Relief

The BDE sanitary pressure relief valve is designed for use on sanitary applications where over pressurisation is important. The valve is manually adjusted to relieve between 0.1 – 7kgs/cm2 . Available in sizes 1”, 1.1/2” and 2” with plain OD weld ends as standard. All sizes can be supplied with fitted union ends to suit customer requirements.

HYGIENIC Strainers - Y Pattern

Designed and manufactured by B.D.E. (Northampton) the range of hygienic strainers also incorporates 90 degree and straight through strainers.

The pump protection strainer is designed specifically to remove potentially damaging debris before it passes through the pump. However it is now widely used as a strainer for coarse particles from product lines. It is ideal for fitting in confined spaces and provides ease of cleaning and element replacement.

Bodies are constructed from 316 grade stainless steel to strict quality standards. Standard finish is 240 grit polished outside, descaled ID, although other finishes are available by request. Available in line sizes from 1” to 6”, and can be fitted with end connections to suit customer requirements. Elements are available as standard in grade 316 stainless with 1mm, 1.5mm, 3mm, 5mm and 10mm perforated elements and wedge wire elements in 750, 500, 400, 250, 100 and 50 micron. Other elements are available to order.

We recommend that spare elements are ordered with strainers to ease cleaning.

We can also offer all of our strainers as duplex units complete with shut off valves for immediate switch-over between units. This is particularly important where minimum production stoppages are crucial.

Strainers can also be supplied with stainless steel water jackets with connections to suit customers jacketed pipe work systems.

Leak testing facilities are available utilising the latest vacuum technology, or for larger units, by water pressure testing.

HYGIENIC VALVES - Sight Glass

The BDE in line sight glass features a heavy duty, borosilicate glass tube, securely clamped with stainless steel bolts between grade 316 end flanges. Providing 360 degree vision, is suited for hygienic applications in sizes from 1”od to 3” od tube weld ends. All sizes can be supplied with fitted union ends to suit customer requirements.

HYGIENIC VALVES - Spray Ball

The BDE Spray Ball offers a low cost, low maintenance option for internal cleaning of vessels. Currently available in a 360 degree spray pattern as standard, 180 degree to order, they are available to suit ¾”, 1” and 1.1/2” od tube inlets. They are retained on the tube via a simple ‘C’ spring clip.

HYGIENIC VALVES – Diaphragm Valve

The BDE diaphragm valve is ideal for applications where slurries or solids may be contained in the medium. Suitable for shut off or throttling applications, EPDM standard diaphragm. Available with 1” to 2” od weld ends. All sizes can be supplied with fitted union ends to suit customer requirements.

BSP VALVES & FITTINGS

A quality range of low pressure (150 psi), lost wax investment cast, or tubular, 316L stainless steel pipe fittings, with BSP threads. The range includes elbows, sockets, nipples, bushes, back nuts, unions, tees and caps.

Designed to be used with schedule 40 nominal bore stainless steel pipe they are extensively used for general mechanical pipework where no corrosion and long working life are important.

One piece valves are designed as a competitive, disposable valve where a reduced bore is acceptable, e.g. drain valves. Two piece valves are designed as a disposable in line valve, where a full flow and minimal pressure drop is essential, e.g. in line shut off valves. Three piece valves are designed as a maintainable full bore, in line valve, where the bolted construction allows the valve body to be removed for maintenance without removing the pipework. They are easily actuated via an ISO top pad. BSP swing type non return valves are designed to prevent backflow through the pipe. BSP strainers are fitted with an 0.4mm mesh. Gate and globe are available to order.

METRIC TUBE & FITTINGS

Metric tube and fittings to DIN 11850 have been the standard within the paper and pulp industry for many years. Uniquely, the system employs a common bore per size, irrespective of the wall thickness being used. Many companies are finding that this system represents an economical, longer lasting and more aesthetically pleasing alternative to traditional pipework such as galvanised steel and schedule 40 stainless.

Tube is cold rolled, welded construction, generally according to DIN 11850. Sizes highlighted are stocked with bead removed for hygienic applications.
