How The Journey Began . . .

The great thing about being young is that you have the opportunity to commit to learning and building an awesome

life. The most exciting thing about being young is the fact that you still have the dream—the desire to want to be, do and have the most out of life. You are a special kind of person and one way to make the most of the person you are, and the person you can be, is to discover the secrets contained in this book. Read it and most importantly take action on it.

Our journey to uncover the truth about life and success began when we were given a tape, called “The Strangest Secret in the World” by Earl Nightingale. It opened up our minds to a new way of thinking and it seriously changed our lives.

From that point on we became fascinated with human potential and the various success principles that, when under-stood and applied, can transform a person’s life. For the next year and a half, we attended countless programs, seminars and workshops, read widely, listened to thousands of hours of tapes and watched many hours of video. We worked along-side the

most amazing people: multi-millionaires, motivational speakers, directors, novelists, meditation gurus, and elite athletes. We were endeavouring to discover how ordinary people could in fact achieve extraordinary things.

During that time we worked with a large adult personal development company and we witnessed first hand the impact that a greater understanding of ones self could have on people and those around them. It was as though they were awakening from a deep sleep. Working with each of these people was a touching experience and extremely fulfilling. Interestingly, they would comment, “If only I had the opportunity to learn this when I was your age. What a difference that would have made to my life.”

Similar statements were repeated over and over and made us feel extremely lucky to have the opportunity and insight into ourselves at such a young age. We also realised that these self-discoveries were something that would greatly benefit other young people. We made a decision to share this message with young people everywhere. We wanted to give back what we had so fortunately discovered.

This was why we buried ourselves in the cutting edge tech-nology of personal development, gathering together all the information that had made such a big change in us. Then we played with it, re-worked some of it and packaged it in a way that was relevant to young people like us.

A friend of ours had booked our first program to be run at a drop-in centre. We knew that it would test us. Did we know our

stuff? Were we good enough to present it? Were other young people going to see the value in it? All these questions began to plague our minds. Well, there was only going to be one way to find out. That was to just do it.

Our first series of programs were with young people who came from a variety of backgrounds. Some of them came from dysfunctional families, others had lives scarred by physical and mental abuse and some were just everyday teens looking for something better. We were quite nervous, expecting to have an uphill battle to get anyone to pay attention to what we had to say.

Someone once wrote: The hero and the coward have the same fears. The hero does

it anyway. With that in mind, we knew that the best way to overcome our fears was to face them, so we did. Our first session had only three participants, but they loved it so much they told some friends and the program then grew to 11, then 18. As they say, “the rest is history”. People were responding and could relate to what we had to say. Our message was now being heard.

With the success of these programs came the establishment of Tomorrow’s Youth. Having a big vision and little business experience we decided to form an alliance with Accelerated Learning Worldwide (ALW), an organisation with a wealth of experience in youth development and education.

One of the arms of Tomorrow’s Youths is a program called Empower U. It is designed for young audiences, teaching prac-tical life-skills such as goal-setting, motivation, communication,

teamwork, leadership, health and fitness, career skills, money management, people skills, creative thinking and much more.

In “The World at your Feet”, we will share with you our message about life and success. It contains 7 magic keys that are not only the reason for our success and good fortune, but also the secrets of anyone who has ever achieved greatness.

The concepts and ideas in this book are simple but extremely valuable for your future direction in life. They have impacted on our own lives and also on the thousands of lives that our Empower U program has touched.

The purpose of this book is to spark an interest in knowing more—about the world and yourself.

Knowledge, it is said, is power. Knowledge can open a world of possibility, to develop a passion for growth and achievement and tap into your potential to be the best you can be.

It is easy to understand each of the 7 Magic Keys to success that you will find throughout the book. The challenge for you is to apply the strategies to your life. When you do, the results you achieve will be truly amazing, simply because they are based upon proven, universal principals used by people who have already achieved phenomenal results. Please take the time to read through the keys thoroughly and re-read it as often as you need to.

As you may have already noticed, there is a quote at the bottom of every page. Each of the quotes relates to the message contained in each key. You may be tempted to read them once you get to the bottom of each page. However, what we would

KEY 1

Stepping Up To The Plate

Some may say that this is the most valuable of all keys because it is the first step. Taking the first step is always the most

challenging, simply because it may be a step in a new direction.A story we read in “Awaken the Giant Within” by Anthony

Robbins, best describes what the first key is. An alcoholic and drug addict who almost killed himself several

times, is today in jail serving a life sentence for the murder of a liquor store cashier who “got in his way”. He has two sons, born only 11 months apart. One of the sons grew up to be “just like his father”. He was a drug addict who lived by stealing and threatening others, eventually being put in jail himself for attempted murder. His brother is a completely different story. He is currently raising three kids, has a fruitful marriage and seems to be happy. He enjoys his occupation as the regional manager of a major national company, finding it fulfilling and rewarding. He is fit, healthy and has no alcohol or drug addictions. Why is it that those two men, who had the same upbringing, have totally different outcomes in life?

“Keep your face to the sunshine andyou cannot see the shadow.”

H E L E N K E L L E R

8 The World at Your Feet

A journalist who heard about the two brothers decided to write a story about them. She went and interviewed both brothers, neither knowing the other one was going to be interviewed. Both brothers were asked the same question—“Why has your life turned out this way?” The brother in jail answered, “What else would I have become having grown up with a father like that?” The other brother, after being asked the same question, had an interesting answer, “What else could I have become having grown up with a father like that?”

We know that both brothers had exactly the same up bringing, even though they ended up with totally contrasting results in life.

Knowing this, the question we would like to ask is, “What must have been different about each of these brothers for them to end up where they did?”

We will get to the answer a little later. Firstly let us begin with the first brother, the one who ended up in jail. Just for a moment, get into the role of that character. What attitudes he must have developed in order to produce that outcome.

Here are just a few examples of what was going on inside his head.

• My father hated my guts and enjoyed seeing me suffer.• My mother didn’t care about me either and didn’t protect me.• The government doesn’t do anything to support people in need.• You must be strong and use aggression to get what you want.• You have to be rich to be happy, so I must steal.

“Keep in mind that neither successnor failure is ever final.”

R O G E R W . B A B S O N

Stepping Up To The Plate 9

Now, let’s get into the mind of the second brother. The one who didn’t let circumstances negatively impact on his life, in spite of what happened.

What might have lead him to get the results he had in his life?

• I have a choice, just like my father, but my choice will be different.• I want to live a happy life, not one filled with pain. • I am going to provide for my family and find a loving partner.• I am the creator of my destiny. I want to live a fruitful life.• I can still achieve in life as I have everything within me to be

successful.

The answer to, “What must have been different about each of these brothers for them to end up where they did?”, is simple: It was their thinking. What was going on in their heads in response to the circumstances and events of their life.

There are many complicated theories out there from psycholo-gists and counsellors about why we do what we do. What we have found, in the simplest of terms, is that first we have thoughts, which then determine our feelings, these then impact our actions, which of course, determine our results.

If we examine the assumptions suggested by the first brother’s response, we can see that it is based around blame, excuses and denial. It is his Dad’s fault, Mum’s fault, God’s fault and society’s fault. In short a whole array of reasons to excuse and justify his position. This thinking can often be determined as being “at effect” or having a victim mentality.

“Cowards falter, but danger is often overcomeby those who nobly dare.”

10 The World at Your Feet

However, in examining the second brother’s response, if we pay attention to the first word of every sentence we see a recurring pattern (I, I, I). He understands that he is in fact the consistent factor in his own life and everything that happens is in some way dependant on him.

It is the same for all of us. Either we decide that we are responsible for our own life or we let everybody else run it for us. When you take responsibility you become “at cause” and when you do this, you become the creator of your own experiences. You realise that if anything in your life isn’t going the way you want it, you and you alone have the power and ability to change it.

This is the first and most crucial key to success. It is about making a decision to take total responsibility for your own life and everything that happens to you.

This is what Empowerment is all about. It is about taking ownership, becoming responsible and making yourself account-able for all the things that happen to you in your life.

There is one more very important factor that, once understood, will give you the clarity and certainty to take charge of your life.

That factor can be stated in this way:

“Just because things are the way they are, doesn’t mean that is the way things need to be.”

In other words, the past does not equal the future. Here is a quick story to illustrate this point.

“Nothing splendid has ever been achievedexcept by those who dared believe that something

inside them was superior to circumstances.”B R U C E B A R T O N

Stepping Up To The Plate 11

When elephants are born into captivity in a circus they are chained to a peg in the ground. The elephants will try their hardest to break free by pulling and pulling. Unfortunately, they are too small and weak to break free, so they just walk in circles as the chain restricts them.

When they grow up big and strong, circuses use them to push carts, buses and other heavy objects. But as soon as they click the chain around one of their legs, they are once again restricted. Even though the elephants could easily pull out the peg from the ground to set themselves free they don’t, due to preconditioning. Their memory of the peg comes from when they were tiny and could not break free; this is what prevents them from breaking free, even though all they would need to do is take a few more steps past the point where the chain extends in order to break free.

A Moscow circus in the late 70’s proved this point. A fire started up and all of the circus workers set the animals free from their cages. However, they forgot three elephants, which were in the back area, not visible from the front tent. The small chain attached to a peg in the ground trapped the elephants. So strong was the conditioning from when they were young that they couldn’t break free, this resulted in the elephants burning to death. Even in panic they could not break free from the ‘chains’ in their mind.

It is the same for us in life. When you are young, you believe that you can do anything

in life. You have probably often heard very young children say,

“The past does not equal the future. Because you failed yesterday…doesn’t mean anything…all that matters is:

12 The World at Your Feet

“Hey Mum/Dad I want to be a magician,” and next week, “I want to be a fireman” and the week after, “I want to be an astronaut.” The possibilities are infinite for them. They are completely open, like sponges, taking in new information. They just see someone else doing something and they say, “I can do that,” or “That’s what I am going to be.”

The reason they can think this way is that they don’t yet have a reason to doubt that dreams are achievable.

As we journey through life, people—wanting to protect us from failure—begin to tell us what we can and can’t do. They might say, “You’re not brave enough to be a fireman,” or “You’re not smart enough to be an astronaut.” All of a sudden, you go from a space of unlimited possibility to a space of imposed restrictions and limitations—just like the elephant.

Now this protective feedback from other people just keeps building and building. When you hit your teens, puberty sets in; you become self-conscious and constantly need acceptance from other people. So you begin to conform, like the elephant, and the fear of failure steps in and the dream mechanism of the mind begins to shut down.

A wise man once said, “You are the only person who is standing in the way of your own success”. Is there anything within you that is holding you back? Are there any negative beliefs that you have about yourself? Are there any past experiences that are still affecting you today? These are all chains that may be holding you back. Often to achieve what you really want you need to break through some, if not, all of these chains.

“Circumstances are the rulers of the weak;they are but the instruments of the wise.”

Stepping Up To The Plate 13

It is important to realise that we are in fact, multi-talented individuals capable of absolutely anything. We have deep reser-voirs of talent and ability, and each of us is in fact born to do great things.

Get back in touch with the child who believed that he/she could do anything and open up your mind so that you can see the possibilities that exist in the world. Look at all the options available, lay them out in front of you and examine them from all possible angles. Make a decision to break through the chains which imprison your mind.

When this decision is made, you become the driver of your life, rather than a passenger who is simply along for the ride. You become an active player on the field, rather than a spectator in a crowd of faces.

We call this, “Stepping up to the plate”. Taking a stand. Making a decision. Saying, “This is my life and I create my experience and reality.”

As the book unfolds for you, there will be a “Success Diagram” that will grow with each chapter. What it will contain is the key ideas and concepts that the book holds. Providing a visual aid to convey the message of the book.

“Give the world the best you have, and the best will come to you.”

KEY 2

Knowing The Results You Want

You have now taken total responsibility for your life and become the creator of your experiences and your destiny. But where to from here? If, just for a moment, we group all the people we know

together on a global level, a vast majority of us want to achieve success. That is, to live a life in which we can do what we truly want to do in life, to experience happiness, accomplishment and satisfaction. Surely, this is what you want too, otherwise you would probably have already put this book down. However, we also know that on an individual level each of us has a different definition and measure for success.

What actually is success? We spend our whole life trying to get it, but if we don’t know

what success is, how can we be satisfied once we have achieved it? Will we even know we have achieved it?

The best definition of success was framed by the famous author and speaker Earl Nightingale. He wrote it this way:

“Nothing happens unless first a dream.”C A R L S A N D B U R G

16 The World at Your Feet

“Success is the progressive realisation of a worthy ideal.”

Put simply, it is the achievement of set goals. So now the second magic key to success. Decide what you

want in life. It is important to realise that if you are “at effect” you don’t

have control over your circumstances, which means that you will not be able to get the things you want, simply because you are not governing the direction you take. Be “at cause”, become the creator and take responsibility, then you can move on to the second magic key. Decide what you want.

Many people desire a better life, but they haven’t worked out what a better life is. So they stay exactly where they are. To become a success all that is required is to decide what you really want in life and go after it.

It is so simple, yet it is the hardest thing for human beings to do. Make a decision and in your decision lies your destiny. Once you make that decision you have something to aim for, a purpose and direction that you can now focus on and head towards. Once you do this you’re immediately on your way to real achievement. The rest of the book is about how to make that happen.

So now the million-dollar question. What are your goals? What are your dreams? And most importantly, what ideally do you want your future to look like? Really think about these questions seriously because what you are in fact doing is constructing your life in advance. We know that you have probably been asked these questions a hundred times before.

“Make sure you visualize what you really want, not what someone else wants for you.”

Knowing The Results You Want 17

But this time take a few moments to really think. Not about what you think you are capable of achieving, rather what you really, really, really want.

Located within us we have the greatest tool we ever need to have everything we ever want in life. It is not something you can buy or something you have to go out and find. It was your gift at birth. And it is called your imagination.

Begin to think about your future. Allow your mind to go absolutely crazy. Imagine if a genie came out of a bottle, do you know what you would ask for? Or if you had a fairy godmother who waved her magic wand? Or if you had unlimited talent and an infinite amount of time and money what would you do? You have your whole life in front of you and the only limits are those of your imagination. We are capable of doing such diverse things and we don’t need to limit ourselves to only a couple of things. Think of all possibilities and even ones you haven’t even considered yet.

When we ask people to share their goals with us more often than not we get the same responses. Things like “my goal is to do well at school” or “my goal is to get fit” or “my goal is to be rich”. The problem is that they are not goals they are desires. A desire is simply something that you would like to have. A goal is a set plan of action, which is clearly defined and as specific as possible.

Whilst reading this you may already start to have ideas about your goals and dreams. If this is true for you, it is important to

“The more intensely we feel about an idea or a goal, the more assuredly the idea, buried deep in our subconscious,

will direct us along the path to its fulfilment.”E A R L N I G H T I N G A L E

grab a piece of paper, stop reading and write your goals down, in as much detail as possible . . .

At our Empower U programs when the time comes for people to begin writing down their goals, some people just explode and write non-stop. While others take their time and a couple of people often say, “Well I really don’t know what I want in life”. That is OK. You don’t need to have your entire life mapped out. However, you will need some idea of the direction you want to head. Often when people don’t know what their goals are we suggest they carry a note pad with them for a week or so and write down everything that comes to mind. Write it down before you have even thought about whether it is realistic or not.

Some examples maybe:

• I want to learn how to speak Italian• I want to be the captain of the school hockey team• I want to become a great guitarist• I want over 85% in my final school exams• I want to sail around Australia• I want to own a country property with some horses• I want to go to Egypt and see the pyramids• I want to have the confidence to speak to a large audience

Another suggestion is to begin with the end in mind, to think about how you want your future to look like in 5, 10 or even 20 years time and work progressively backwards until you

come back to the present. Each time, plan small goals that are going to lead to your bigger one. If you see something you like, hear something that sounds good or think about something you want, write it down. This is really a must. So many people daydream and have their goals floating out there in the universe and there is nothing certain about them. They come and go and change every second day.

When you write them down you get them out of your head and onto the physical plane. It proves to yourself that you have made a commitment to your goal and that you are willing to hold yourself accountable for achieving it.

Once you have all your goals and dreams out on the table they should either excite you or scare you. Both are great emotions and it is an indication that you are on the right track. If they make you feel nothing, then your goals are perhaps too simple or they are not the right goals for you.

Having your goals written down on the physical plane is an awesome achievement in itself and makes you one of the rare minority that are destined to make a good life great. By taking a closer look at your goals you will find they all fit into a variety of categories. Naturally the next step is to add structure to your goals.

Generally, goals are recognised by the presence of the words be, do or have. Who do I want to be as a person? What are the things I want to do? And what are the things I want to have?

From there, goals fit into a variety of different categories. Here are just a few.

• Personal development, • Health and fitness, • Family and relationships, • Financial, • Career, • Business, • Education,• Recreation, adventure and travel,• Community,• Social,• and• Spiritual.

There may also be many others that are relevant to your life. You will also notice with goals that each of them have an in-built

time-frame stating when you want to achieve them or when you think it is realistic to attain them. When we talk about time-frames with goals there are generally only three different types.

1. Short-term goals—usually daily to weekly goals. These are extremely important, as they are the ones that you are constantly striving for on a daily basis. They should be relatively simple and be realistically achievable within the set time frame.

2. Medium term goals—usually monthly to yearly goals. They are generally the result of many short-term goals. Being a bit longer in time they are inevitably bigger and require more focus and determination.

“A man without a goal is like a ship without a rudder.”T H O M A S C A R LY L E

Knowing The Results You Want 21

3. Long-term goals—usually five years to a lifetime. They are the result of the combination of short and medium-term goals. The crowning achievement of your hard work and the big dream you desire. These goals require the most planning because they require the most effort to achieve.

To get from Point A to Point Z, you go through Points B, C, D, E and so on. It is a process which involves setting short-term goals to achieve medium-term goals, that lead to the achievement of long-term goals. It is important not to become overwhelmed by the size of a goal. Break it down and take a good look at what little goals you need to achieve in order to get closer to the big one.

Simple changes, achieved consistently, compounded over time, have an effect in a positive or negative way. When we talk about this, we often use the analogy, “An inch is cinch but a mile is a trial”. A 1000-mile journey starts with one step and that first step is just as important as the 874 927th step.

As you focus on your goals and understand the various categories they may fall into, the next step is to discover why you want to achieve them. What has been discovered is that if you know exactly why you want something, then the how to achieve it will come naturally.

Most people mistake ‘success’ in life with solely being the attainment of material possessions. The reason we desire anything in life is deeper than that. It is because of the emotions it gener-ates within us. Advertisements do it all the time. They take a product and associate it to an emotion. Take a beer advertisement

for example: Beautiful girls sitting around on tropical islands drinking in the sun. The beer is now associated with fun, pleasure and lifestyle. The feeling the beer gives you.

Whatever our desires, the feeling they give us is the reason why we want them. You may be thinking, that sounds crazy, but think carefully about the goals you have and then think about how they make you feel.

Now we have looked at your individual goals, dreams and ambitions. If you refer to “The Success Diagram”, this key is represented by the letter “R” which stands for the RESULTS you want. The rest of the book will talk about the ‘how to’ of achieving those results.

It is important to realise that goals are such a huge area and in this book we have only scratched the surface. If you are really serious about your future, then we strongly suggest that you do further research and reading. There is some inspiring information available in such areas as, how to write your goals, how to program them into your mind, how to overcome beliefs that limit your success and even how to work on your goals while you are sleeping.

In summary, understand that goals are important, you must write them down, review them daily and constantly visualise yourself already having all that you want.

The Person You Are

Some may say that this is the most valuable of all the keys. That is simply because it is about you and all of the characteristics

that make up who you are as a person. There have been many great people throughout history, who

have shown that one person can make a difference. One of the most notable made the following statement from the dock in the Rivonia trial:

“I have fought against white domination, and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society in which all persons live together in harmony and with equal opportunities. It is an ideal, which I hope to live for and to achieve. But if needs be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die.”

Nelson Mandela, the former President of South Africa and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, is a man who fought for justice and equality his whole life. His life symbolises the triumph of the human spirit over inhumanity. He is now a leader who is adored by millions.

He was, however, wrongfully imprisoned for 27 years because of his strong beliefs about freedom and peace for his nation. After all the pain that he endured in that time he was still able to forgive the people who had put him there.

Think about the kind of person you would have to be to forgive those who placed you in jail for almost three decades. What bitterness and anger would you hold deep inside? Would you give up hope? Would you lose faith in your country? Would your dreams just dissolve into the cold brick walls of your prison?

When Nelson Mandela was released on Sunday the 11th February 1990, before a huge audience of passionate followers and media, one reporter asked, “How do you feel having waited 27 years for this moment?” Mandela turned to the reporter and with total conviction uttered the words, “I did not wait. I prepared.”

What he did with his time in prison was plan, strategise and think about his dream. The dream of becoming President of South Africa and liberating his nation. With his dream in mind, he worked out who he needed to become as a person to have it realised.

Many people talk about personal development, but what exactly is it? Personal development is about becoming the person you need to be to achieve the results you want in life. The person you are now has brought you to where you are today. To get to where you want to go in the future will require you to become something different. It is being prepared to change and grow in order to give you a different outcome.

The Person You Are 27

It is important to realise that whatever you want in life, you are going to need to develop a certain Attitude, Knowledge and Skill base. Attitude is having “the will and the drive to do”. Knowledge is understanding “what to do and why”. Skill is knowing “how to do”. Spend some quality time thinking about the attitude, knowledge and skills you will need to develop in order to bring your dreams to fulfilment.

All these things together make up your “identity”. That is, how we see ourselves and what we think we are capable of doing. It is also the way we project ourselves from the inside out and this is what other people respond to.

What is your identity? It is the internal picture you have of yourself, which you naturally project out on to the world. It is important to realise that you control the way the world responds to you simply by the way you conduct yourself. You create your own identity. You choose your own behaviours. Once you hold yourself accountable you can begin to make the changes necessary to reflect your identity.

Do you stand tall or have your shoulders slumped? Do you look confident or timid? Are you a giver or a taker? Are you a leader or a follower? Are you a slacker or a teacher’s pet? Are the impressions you are making the ones you want to make?

Think about how you would really love to be seen. Wherever you want to go in life think about what kind of person you want to be and more importantly what image you are projecting?

So after you have taken total responsibility for your life and discovered what you truly want in life, the next magic key is to

“You don’t get in life what you want;you get in life what you are.”

work out who you need to be or become as a person to achieve what you want in life.

As “The Success Diagram” grows you will see that there are in fact two variables to achieving your desired results. In other words, the two major factors that will determine your level of success. The person you are is the first and the foundation of your success.

KEY 4

The Action You Take

Simply put, the action you take is the second variable in achieving the results you want in life, for without action you

will stay precisely where you are. All the planning in the world will mean nothing if you don’t take action.

A reporter once asked Thomas Edison “Why are you still persisting with the light bulb? You have failed over 9000 times now.” Edison looked at the man and replied “No my friend, I am 9000 steps closer to discovering how it will work.” The persistent action Edison took enabled him to give us the light bulb.

Many people have great ideas that they will get around to “one-day”. What is one-day? There is no such thing. The world is full of people who use excuses to cover up all the things they plan on doing and hope to achieve. In the end, people don’t care about the things you say you will do, they are only interested in the results you achieve from the action you take. “What-ifs” and “maybes” are merely excuses and reasons why people can’t be bothered going out and doing it.

32 The World at Your Feet

When we entered the corporate world, we made plans to start our own sales consultancy business. We planned the business down to the final detail, including the coloured stickers we were going to use to categorise our files. Once we felt we had everything ready we arranged a meeting with one of our business mentors, Stephen Hall, who was already a successful sales consultant. The meeting went something like this.

“Here are our plans Stephen, what do you think?”“Well you have definitely put a lot of work into this.”“Yeah, we have looked at everything. We hope so anyway.”“Well I have to say that this looks great. Now it is a matter of

going out there and doing it.”“But what about the phone scripts. We think they need a

little work.”“No, you just have to go and do it.”“But what about the testing and measuring forms. Are they

detailed enough?”“Look, just go and do it”“What about our flow charts?”“Okay listen to me. GO AND DO IT. You can’t prepare for

absolutely everything. It’s impossible. If you actually do half of what you have here you will be fantastic consultants. You have to get out there in the traffic and take a few knocks. It is not going to happen unless you go out there and do it. It is that simple.”

You see, plans remain plans until you put the effort into making them happen. We live in a society of wannabes. I wannabe happier, I wannabe healthier, I wannabe wealthier. Interestingly,

“Get a good idea and stay with it. Dog it, work at it until it’s done, and done right.”

wanting it isn’t going to make it happen. Procrastination is the biggest killer of dreams, simply because no one likes the idea of going out there and doing it.

Neil, a good friend, said to us, “The idea of taking out the rubbish is ten times worse than actually doing it.” This rings true for many things in life. We build them up to be such a major activity when, in actual fact, if we just did them it would be much easier.

Most people know of the phrase, “a window of opportunity”. Opportunities come along all the time whether you are ready for them or not. You can sit there, do nothing and let them pass you by, which is the easy thing to do. The world will still continue to spin. People’s lives will go on. Where will you be? Are you going to be a bystander and wait for things to fall into your lap? Or are you going to seize the opportunities around you. Take action and get moving.

It is a fact that anything worthwhile in life does not happen by accident. You must go after it and make it happen.

Thinking about going to the gym won’t get you fitter. Playing “FIFA Soccer” on the Playstation™ won’t get you into a representa-tive team. Dreaming about the perfect date won’t make it happen. If you do nothing you will inevitably get nothing. This may seem very obvious and still so many people do nothing to change, improve, or alter their current circumstances. People are so afraid of failing in their efforts that they won’t even give it a go.

When you do give it a go, at least you have given yourself the chance of achievement. Sure you may make mistakes—it is

“Genius is one percent inspirationand ninety-nine percent perspiration.”

inevitable. The more mistakes you make the more you learn. As Thomas Edison said, “they are just stepping stones that will lead you closer to your goal.”

NOW is the time to take action. In your decision lies your destiny. Once you take action things begin to happen and the laws of inertia prove that while it takes energy to set something in motion, once it has picked up a little speed, it takes far more resistance to actually stop it.

We would like to finish off the 4th key with a story found on the Internet, that we feel sums up the essence of what taking action is about.

A golfer had an absolutely horrible day at the links. His ball lay on an anthill and he swung viciously with a five-iron. Again and again, he missed the ball and chopped away at the hill, killing ants and sending sand flying through the air. One frightened ant turned to another and said in panic, “We’d better get on the ball if we want to stay alive!”

So it is with all of us. There is a time to think, and a time to do. There is a time to learn and a time to act. There is a time to gather information and a time to make decisions. It has been said that knowing something doesn’t make a difference, taking what you know and doing something with it makes all the difference.

IF you have been putting off that decision; IF you’ve been procrastinating about beginning that project; or IF you never

The Winding Road

You have now discovered the two variables to gain anything you want from life. If we were asked to summarise the book

into a single sentence, it would be; the person you are and the action you take, determine the results you get.

In this imperfect world of ours, it is never a straight line between where you are right now and where you want to be in the future. With any goal of real value there is always something in the way, preventing you from reaching out and claiming it right now.

The interesting thing is that the size of the Goal or Dream is usually in direct proportion to the size of the Obstacle or Struggle, which is always a reflection of the size of the Prize or Reward. For most of us, we have the big dream and we are always looking at ways to avoid the process and immediately claim our Prize.

Keeping this in mind, before we begin our journey, we need to acknowledge that there will be stormy times ahead. To overcome this we must keep focused on our goal and be open and flexible to use a different approach. Similar to how strong

bamboo can bend in the wind, yet it maintains its strength and is made even stronger through and after the storm.

There is a mountain of information available on goals. There are many complicated theories about why people don’t achieve their dreams. Our reason is very simple; either you need to do more work to change “Who you are” or you need to get out there and “Take Action”.

To explain how this works we would like to share with you a story of two young people we worked with, Mel and Chris. Both of them were aspiring actors and after several months trying to make it in the industry both became extremely frustrated, as their efforts didn’t seem to be paying off.

Mel was an amazing talent and was constantly reading books. She attended workshops to increase her knowledge and skills and worked hard on developing a strong personal identity and positive attitude. In spite of this she wasn’t achieving results and became frustrated.

Chris on the other hand was a real go-getter. After making the decision he wanted to be an actor he went to the photographer, got some quality photos and developed an impressive portfolio and show-reel. He then called all the agencies, made appoint-ments to see the relevant people and tried to sell himself. As you may have guessed Chris faced rejection, after rejection, after rejection and just about gave up on his dream to become an actor.

Both of these people had invested a lot of time and effort and where did they end up? If we had to plot them on our

Success Diagram, Mel would have probably ended up at point “x” and Chris at point “y”. Both a fair distance away from where they really wanted to be.

What if Mel took more action and went out and got her portfolio together and began auditioning? What if Chris devel-oped the person he was and actually worked on his craft and studied acting more? Do you think their outcomes would have been different? Most definitely.

Einstein said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over, expecting a different result.

This is best demonstrated by the story of the fly. The fly once tried to get out of a house. It kept buzzing and knocking into the window as it could see freedom just beyond the glass barrier. Only several feet away was an open door. The fly persisted by doing the same thing believing it would have a different outcome, yet all the fly needed to do was slightly change direction to fly out the door. Instead, it persisted with the window until it had no energy left, falling to the floor.

Behavioural flexibility is the ability to see what is working and what is not working. Being prepared to change what is required to achieve goals and dreams. If you feel like the fly, use a different strategy or come up with another game plan. You don’t want to be changing every second day of the week and you don’t want to try a single approach for several years hoping that one day it will all magically come together, there needs to be a balance. Take a mature, realistic and intelligent approach

when going after what you really want and combine that with persistence and flexibility.

If you feel you are going off track, work on Who You Are or Take Action.

The process of achievement is best demonstrated by the following examples.

Sniffer dogs in the police dog-squad are used to sniff out and find drugs at airports and warehouses. When the police discover a location that they think has drugs in it, they release the dogs to search. Interestingly, the dogs never go directly to the drugs. They pick up the scent and keep walking in a particular direction. As soon as the scent begins to fade they will change direction and start walking that way. They continue this process, changing course six or seven times before they finally reach the exact location of the drugs.

A development of modern warfare is the heat-seeking missile. Once launched, it can detect the movement of its quarry, changing direction constantly, as it zeroes in. If it were only able to continue on its original trajectory, then the target would be able to avoid disaster with an easy shift of direction and the missile would never achieve its ultimate goal.

It is exactly the same for us in life. If we are to zero in on our goals, we must develop the capability to change direction in response to changes in our circumstances.

“Great works are performed not by strength, but by perseverance.”

Modelling From Excellence

Modelling from excellence will enable you to develop a road map for the achievement of your individual set goals.

It is at this point that things can get a little bit confusing and some people may become slightly overwhelmed. You may be thinking things like, “What are the steps I need to take to achieve my specific goals? Who exactly do I need to become? What attitude, skills and knowledge do I need and how do I get them? And what specific action do I need to take?”

To answer these questions there is both good and not so good news. The not so good news is that we can’t tell you the exact steps, simply because we don’t know the exact steps for you personally. No two journeys follow exactly the same paths—even if their destinations are the same. That is because we all have different goals and dreams.

The good news is that there is an answer. Once you see the value in what we are about to share with you, with a little time, effort, research and investigation, you will discover for yourself exactly what steps you need to take to achieve your goals.

“Example is the school of mankind, and they will learn at no other.”

In fact, the answer lies within a short phrase that we learnt from a great friend named Grant Lewers, who has done some amazing work with young people. This phrase has helped us enormously.

We hope you are ready for it. The answer is “Life is like a chocolate cake”. Now when we first heard that, our reaction was ‘What does that mean?’

Then we had Grant explain it to us and this is what he said. “Well guys, how many ways are there to make a cake?” Naturally we said, “Well, there are thousands of ways.” Grant said, “No there are only two.” We must have looked confused, because he continued, “Yep,

that’s right. There are just two. The first way is to crack a couple of eggs, a few bags of flour, a drop of milk, some sugar, a few blocks of chocolate and mix it up and stick it in the oven on whatever temperature.”

Then he asked, “If you do that, what type of cake are you going to get?”

We replied, “Well it’s going to look like a total mess.”He commented, “Yes and it will taste like a mess too. Now if

you continue to make more cakes like that and waste more time and effort after the 999th cake if you are lucky, it may taste okay.”

He looked at us and asked, “What is that called?”We replied, “Trial and error I guess.”“Yes, but a lot more errors than trials!”Then he said to us, “There is a much more intelligent, much

more efficient, a much more logical way to make a chocolate

cake and that is to simply follow a recipe. A recipe from a master chef. Someone who knows the exact ingredients, the exact ratios and amounts, the exact time period and exact temperature.”

Now at this point you may be thinking what we were thinking. “Yes we understand all of that, but what does it mean and how do we find the recipe?” What he said to us next was something that we will always remember.

“Whatever life you want in the future, whatever dream you have, chances are that there is someone out there that is already living it. In fact if you look closely you will find hundreds if not thousands who already have what you want. They have invested their own time and their own money, they have done the hard work. They have made the costly mistakes, learnt from them, overcome them and succeeded. In other words, they have the recipe for success you need.”

It is probably not one recipe; it is many different recipes from many different people, because of the different things you want. The point is you know that there are people out there that have what you want. They have the solution you are looking for. How do you find these people? The first step is to become really clear on what you want.

Once you are clear on what you want, you next find the people who have already achieved those goals and dreams and are living the life you want. So, how do you find these people?

You must uncover the clues. Become a detective and start researching things very closely. You will soon start picking up a trail that will lead you towards the people you are looking for.

46 The World at Your Feet

We once heard a story about a young man in his early 20’s. He was burnt out and depressed, not knowing where he was going in life. One of his mates had his holiday break coming up and said, “Look, a few of us are going up to the snow for a week or so. You aren’t doing much lying around at home, why don’t you come with us. It may do you some good.” He agreed.

When he got there, he wanted to learn to ski, however, was really low on cash and couldn’t afford lessons. He was determined to learn and everyday for one week, he would just sit on the side of the mountain and watch people who were great skiers. He studied them very closely for several days and if the opportunity would arise, he would ask them questions to clarify his own understanding. He would then absorb that information, apply it, practise it over and over and by the end of the week he had taught himself to ski quite competently.

This sent fireworks off inside his head, if he could apply this theory to all other areas of his life, (money, health, studies, relationships, etc.), then he could totally turn his life around. That is exactly what he did.

When he returned from the snow, he decided that he was going to find every successful person that he possibly could, interview them and discover their secrets. That is, the steps they took to achieve their goals. The information that he uncovered was so valuable he applied it to his own life immediately and achieved great results.

We have also discovered, through reading and research into the secrets of successful people, that practically all of them had

people who they role-modelled from. They modelled from people whose experience and knowledge could be used to assist them in their journey to achievement and success.

Sir Isaac Newton stated, “If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.”

This particular key is so important that we can almost say without fear of contradiction, that if you don’t have any role models or mentors in your life, it is going to be almost impossible to achieve your goals and dreams. You never want to become a clone or an exact copy of someone else, what you do want is to save yourself valuable time and effort by learning from those who have walked the same path before you.

Surround yourself with the type of people you want to be like. Find out about the person they are by asking them high quality questions. Their attitude, knowledge, skills, beliefs and values. All the amazing personal qualities they possess that make them great individuals. Also find out what action they took, and how specifically, they have reached the heights they have reached.

If you don’t know your role models personally the best thing you can do is read some books about them or even search on the Internet.

Once you have this information, you can use it to develop a plan to understand the clear steps you need to take. Then all you have to do is go out there, become the person and take action and you will be well on your way to achieving your goals and dreams.

You may be thinking, that is great, but it’s still a lot of work. Well no one said that it was going to be easy, even though the process is simple. That is the price for the prize of success. Think about it this way. How much is it going to cost you in time, money and effort if you don’t have role models to learn from?

Never underestimate the power of these simple concepts. They may seem obvious or ridiculously simple, but remember, it is the little things that often make the biggest difference. If you only remember a handful of things from this book, remember this. For everything you want in your life there is a recipe for getting it. Find it and follow it. It is that simple.

The Journey

Success is never about having the great house, the amazing car, or the fruitful business. It is about the person you have become in the process. It is all about the journey.

In life you will find many people who believe that success is acquiring fame and fortune. People also believe that once you acquire a certain amount of fame and fortune, then you become successful. The truth is, success comes in a decision and in your decision lies your destiny. Once you decide to take hold of your life and go after what you want, you are a success already.

The important thing to realise is that all the fame and fortune in the world amounts to nothing if you have not truly enjoyed earning it. Enjoy the journey, learn and grow as a person along the way.

Brent learned this lesson personally. We were both on our way to run a school program on goal-setting and motivation and we had to get up really early that particular morning, as it was a long drive to get there.

“Dream as if you’ll live forever, live as if you’ll die tomorrow.”

We were travelling down the highway and on either side of the road were mountains. Then an interesting thing happened, which Brent still remembers to this day.

“As I looked toward the horizon to my left, I was blown away by the spectacular sunrise with the warmth of its rays gently spreading across the valley. The way in which it lit up the trees below was breathtaking. I looked at the other cars around me and was amazed, not one person took a second to even glance at this amazing sight. They were so focused on their destination, that they were missing out on the spectacular journey.”

This happens to all of us because we are so caught up with everyday life. Having said that, it is clear that it is the journey that counts not the destination. As we said at the start of the chapter, it is never really about what you have got, it is always about who you have become in the process.

Time is the one commodity that we cannot stretch or grow. We all have amazing potential that we often take for granted. Time is precious, understanding this we thank you for taking your time to read this book. Now what are you going to do with the time you have left and the ideas you received from this book? Are you going to put this book down and continue on the path that everyone else is on or are you going to become the person you realise you can be and take the necessary action? It is your decision that will make all the difference.

Michael Jordan, the greatest basketball player in history once said, “I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career, I’ve lost almost 300 games, 26 times I’ve been trusted to take the game

winning shot and missed, I’ve failed over and over in my life, and that is why I succeed.”

Expect to make mistakes. It is all a part of learning and growing. It is the persistence and action that makes a difference.

What we regard as our greatest gift to you is intangible. It comes from within all of us and is like an actual craving, a thirst, a hunger, a desire, a need to discover more. That gift is a yearning for learning and it will only ever happen if you see the value in its potential and the difference that it will make to your future.

Hopefully, like us, you have made a decision to think big, to go for it and make the most of life. You have something that is worth fighting for, something, that will get you up every morning. If you continue to push the boundaries, to learn more, to grow and to expand, the only way to go is up.

There are numerous books, tapes, seminars and courses available for you to learn and grow from in all areas of your life, (you can email us to find out more). There are also successful people around who are living the dream and all you need to do is find them and ask them how they did it.

The environment you put yourself in is a clear reflection of the results you hope to achieve. The sooner you find the people that you can model from, the quicker you will reach your goal. Think about where you will be in 5, 10, 20 years time, sieze the day today and go after your dreams.

Life is literally in the palm of your hand and it comes down to a decision. The choice is yours—to live a life of mediocrity, where you just follow the herd and do what everybody else is

doing, to live a life where you are never quite happy and never feel satisfied. Or, to live a life where you can feel totally free, fulfilled and satisfied, a life where you create your destiny and live out your dreams. It all comes down to a decision and in many ways this decision has already been made, because your heart has decided for you.

You have the world at your feet and the most amazing potential inside you. Go for it and live the life you truly want. It is about becoming the person you want to be by taking the action necessary to achieve your dreams. And always remember . . .

Enjoy the Journey.

Final Thoughts

We don’t want you to just read this book, think “Yeah, that makes sense” and then do nothing about it. We want you

to get the most out of what you have learnt in this book and for it to make a difference in your life.

To get the most from anything that you learn, you have to repeat it over and over again so that it sticks, and instead of just knowing the information, you are actually applying it without thought, like a habit—it starts to be part of the way you are.

The next two pages lay out a summary of the book. To make it easier to repeat and review what you have learned in this book. Photocopy the next two pages and keep them in front of you wherever you go. Stick them in your folder, on your walls, on the ceiling above your bed—everywhere! Or at least put one where you will see it every day, like on the bathroom mirror or the back of the toilet door.

The world is truly at your feet. Find your wildest dreams and follow your heart, be the amazing person you were born to be and know that you have the ability to create the life you truly want.

SUMMARY

The World At Your Feet

KEY 1 Stepping Up To The PlateMake a decision to take total responsibility for your own life and everything that happens to you. Just because things are the way they are, doesn’t mean that is the way things need to be. The past does not equal the future. Step up to the plate and become the creator of your own destiny.

KEY 2 Knowing The Results You Want What are your goals? What are your dreams? And most impor-tantly, what ideally do you want your future to look like? You are constructing your life in advance. Understand that goals are important. They must be written down. Review them daily and constantly visualise yourself already having all that you want.

KEY 3 The Person You AreWork out what is the type of person you need to become to achieve the results you need in life. What kind of Attitude, Knowledge and Skills do you need? This is your identity. It is how you project yourself from the inside out and what you think you are capable of doing in your life.

KEY 4 The Action You TakePeople never care about the things you say you will do, they are only interested in results you achieve from the action you take. It is a fact that anything worthwhile in life does not happen by accident. You must go after it and make it happen.

KEY 5 The Winding RoadThe line between where you are right now and where you want to be in the future is never straight. It is like a winding road. If you are not achieving your goals you need to do more work to change “Who you are” or you need to get out there and “Take Action”. What is needed, to succeed in anything, is both persistence and behavioural flexibility.

KEY 6 Modelling From ExcellenceWhatever dream you have, chances are that someone already out there is living it. They have invested their own time, money, and resources and have made the costly mistakes. Find the people, learn the recipe and follow it.

KEY 7 The JourneySuccess is never about having the great house, the amazing car, or the fruitful business. It is who you have become in the process, the changes you have made and the way in which you have grown—the moments in time that make you who you are. So enjoy the journey . . .

About The Authors

B R E N T W I L L I A M S

As a Gen-Y, Brent Williams, the co-founder of Tomorrow’s Youth, has already had a wealth of experience in the personal develop-ment area. He has been featured in various newspapers and magazines including the Sydney Morning Herald, as well as radio interviews both locally and abroad.

In his early childhood days, Brent was very confident and optimistic about life. He enjoyed playing soccer and even though he may not have been the most gifted player, his never say die attitude and dedication eventually led him to play at a representative level. Then, at the age of 16, he went on to tour Italy, playing in several big tournaments. For him it was a great achievement, as he had many people doubt his ability, which only spurred him on.

It was in year 7 that Brent met Dale and the pair developed a strong friendship. Brent became a peer support leader and sports captain. His academic and athletic ability saw him represent the school on numerous occasions.

To finish his final two years of study Brent transferred schools where he quickly became recognized for his leadership qualities and was elected as the school captain. With new responsibilities,

Brent went on to tackle one of his biggest fears, public speaking. Brent would always say, “The best way to overcome a fear is to face it again and again until that fear turns into a strength.”

His other passion in life, movies, became more of a focus towards the end of his schooling years. He began writing and filming his own short films.

Two weeks after his HSC, Brent had a life-changing experience. He was outside a local hotel, when two drunken guys pulled a gun on him demanding money. His life flashed before his eyes. He was deeply affected by all of the regrets he had and all the dreams that were unfulfilled. He vowed to himself if he got away that he would go after what he really wanted in life and to stop procrastinating.

Brent’s dream, ever since the age of 13, was to become a movie director. He began to work on several short films before landing a position on the crew of the official Olympic film for the 2000 Olympic Games.

Understanding that it would be very tough to make a decent living in the industry, Brent decided to put his directing career on hold, in an attempt to discover the secrets to building wealth, to be able to start his own production company to produce his own films.

With best friends Dale Beaumont and Ryan Butler, Brent attended many wealth creation seminars, including one that dealt with human potential.

This inspired Brent to become a certified practitioner in NLP, and to attend various programs to learn more about presenting, body language, media skills, money, finance, communication and business.

When not running his businesses or presenting programs, Brent plays soccer for fun and enjoys cooking, his specialty being

Italian-style lentil soup. He also runs his own movie production company called Indianic pictures. His lifetime goal is to win an Academy Award for Best Director.

As the Managing Director of Tomorrow’s Youth, Brent continues to expand the organisation, enabling him to reach young people to share the programs valuable messages.

Dale has always been a high achiever. From the time he could walk, Dale became involved in all

types of sports. Soccer, T-ball, Judo and Swimming. At the age of seven he began gymnastics and at nine years of age was selected for the NSW squad. His natural talent was developed in the discipline of training 34 hours a week; six hours every weekday and four hours on Saturday.

For the next five years, Dale competed in National Championships all over Australia and at age 13 he travelled to Hong Kong and China for an international training camp.

Even with his demanding schedule, Dale still managed to stay at the top of the class in all of his subjects throughout high school and was the recipient of the “Ampol all-rounder” Award for leadership and academic excellence.

At age 15, Dale transferred into Competitive Sports Aerobics to free up his time for his studies and to pursue other interests. Training now only 10 hours per week, Dale continued to excel at his new chosen sport. Within five months he won the Australian

Junior Aerobics Championship. The following year he was selected for the National team.

However, in May 1998, Dale’s whole life fell apart when his younger brother Lee passed away. Everything that he had spent his life working for meant nothing and for the first time he wanted to totally give up. The tragic event caused Dale to go into a period of depression. His cure for it was to immerse himself in the only thing that would help him forget the pain—his training.

Four months later, Dale went on to compete at the FISAF World Aerobics Championships in Brazil as Australia’s youngest male to compete at the top level, placing 12th. From there, Dale competed at the FIG World Championships in Germany and Suzuki World Cup in Japan placing eighth in the world. That same year Dale won the Australian National Open.

During this time, Dale also acted in several short films, began modelling part-time and worked at the Sydney International Aquatic Centre.

With his many commitments Dale decided to extend his HSC over three years, which enabled him to complete a fitness trainer course and to travel to Japan to further his cultural and language studies.

Half way through the final year of school Dale decided to concentrate on his studies and stop the intense training which had consumed his life for the past 10 years. At the end of the year he achieved a solid UAI and an artwork nominated for Art Express. An honour shared by the top 2% of Visual Arts students.

After finishing school, Dale realised that he had not yet dealt with his brother’s death and that his whole life had been about his achievements. He decided to find out more about who he was and heal some old wounds.

At 19, Dale teamed up with his long-time friend Brent Williams to study the area of personal development, which answered a lot of questions. During the process he learned to forgive himself.

With this new-found outlook on life, he had attended dozens of seminars and courses on different areas of life, ranging from Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), to wealth creation and motivation. Realising that the information, while very empowering, wasn’t really tailored for young people, Dale and Brent began to write their own program, based on what they had learnt.

Soon, Dale and Brent were running programs for disadvan-taged youth at drop-in centres, which was a huge success. From there, they decided to establish an organisation called Tomorrow’s Youth and to form an alliance with Cfoundation.

Dale’s long-term goal is to expand the organisation Australia wide and eventually overseas, to change the way young people see the world and more importantly the way they see themselves.

Dale enjoys spending time with his wife, Katherine, and son, Finnegan, and is learning to play the guitar. He has also started another business and is the creator of the Secrets Exposed series.

SPEAKING OPPORTUNITIES WITH

Brent Williams & Dale Beaumont

Brent and Dale are available for a limited number of engage-ments each year. Such as youth conferences, school talks, media interviews and as keynote speakers.

The founders of Tomorrow’s Youth and authors of “The World At Your Feet”, Brent and Dale possess wisdom beyond their years. They are true achievers in their own right and have each learned what it takes to make it against great odds. They have succeeded in school, business and international sports without losing the grasp on the realities of life.

Through their own experiences and the achievements of those they have studied and worked with, they have been on a quest to discover the secrets that separate the successful from the unsuccessful, the haves from the have-nots. Now they are committed to sharing these secrets with young people around Australia and around the world.

After some very humbling and eye-opening experiences—the death of Dale’s brother and Brent having a gun put to his head at a post-HSC party—Dale and Brent joined forces to create a massive shake-up in the way that young people view themselves and their futures.

Their quest to help young people be the best that they can be, has led them to look closely into many youth issues and to form many powerful associations within the fields of business and education. They are quickly being considered as authorities on many issues that effect the youth of today. Most importantly, they are providing solutions that have already made a massive difference in the lives of thousands of young Australians.

Brent and Dale are always happy to cater a particular presenta-tion or interview to suit a specific audience. They are just as comfortable talking about how young people can do better in school or university, as talking about peer pressure or suicide prevention.

Here is what one person had to say after their talk . . .

“Brent and Dale’s presentation is dynamic and powerful in both content and delivery. They had a very positive impact on our students in building up their confidence, self-esteem and moti-vating them to achieve the results they desire.” Hayley Ferris B.Ed, Year 12 Co-ordinator Central Coast Adventist School

Now You Can Empower Youth

Help change young people’s lives by giving the best gift of all—the gift of education.

You too can have the privilege of sharing the messages contained in this book with Australia’s underprivileged youth. One of the past graduates from a drop-in centre contacted us after he completed the Empower U program. He has completely turned his life around, and now teaches what he has learned to groups of street kids.

The doors of positive change are opened once a young person gains access to this information. We need your help to assist us in our commitment to making the message we share available to all young people, especially those who don’t have anywhere else to turn. Here is how you can help.
