After getting the instructions and linking his body to the Avatar Jake is ready for his first

task. Do you remember what this task was? With whom and where did he go? What

happened there? Tell the class.

1)Slide 3 (Meeting)Now watch the episode where Jake (his avatar) met Neytiri for the first

time and put the events in the correct order:

Neytiri killed the wolves and saved Jake.

Jake ran away from a dangerous wild animal.

Neytiri took her bow to kill Jake.

A woodsprite floated down and landed onto her bow.

After the tribe had decided to accept Jake as a member of their

community they started to teach him.

1) Slide 4 (Horse) Watch the scene where Neytri gave Jake his first lesson.

what the shahaylu means and what it is for

what the Navi men thought about Jake and what

they said about his attempt to ride a horse

Finally Jake learnt how to hunt and even rode his own Ikran.

1) Now look at the picture of a strange creature below and tell the class how it

helped Jake to become a leader of the Navi people.

2) Slide 6 (The last shadow (without sound)) Watch the scene where Heytiri is

telling Jake about Turuk. The scene will be without sound.

Work in groups and try to guess what Neytiri told Jake about thiscreature.
