For Every Drop…For every Smile!!

Dr. Pol adopted villages in Satara district to turn them into clean abodes. While working in Satara as a Dentist Dr. Pol often spoke to patients about their village conditions. After some time Dr. Pol got to know about the different kind of problems which villages were facing. He analyzed those problems & started to work for cleanness and progress of the villages. He got many ideas & he applied them in many villages with the help of local people. Here is this video you can see the water related work. Video link:

Changing rainfall patterns and increased drought in the district of Barmer, Rajasthan, brought this community together to address their water insecurity. By building a Molap Talab - a traditional rainwater harvesting structure - 20 villages have eliminated local water scarcity - even during periods of drought.

Water Conservation Initiatives: Societies & Industries

The suggested water management is simple, practical, not very costly and can be done even in a small society premises. It must be taken as a necessary investment and not cost. Our society, Sealine CHS was suffering with drinking water shortage 7 years ago, needing 2-3 tankers per week, but since we installed the rain water harvesting system and started using bore-well water for non-potable purposes, we do not need any tanker supply thus saving money and avoiding dirty water.

Waste water from showers, baths and wash-hand basins is called grey-water.With relative ease grey-water can be treated up to 2nd class quality, suitable forflushing toilets with or for irrigation. This can replace a considerable amount ofthe more expensive 1st class tap water. Video link:

Catch Every Drop or Drop Dead!

Source: Drop Dead Foundation

One Man NGO (Non Government Organization)Drop Dead Foundation believes that living in Mumbai we cannot save mighty Ganga river but we can certainly save a few drops of water wherever we are residing.

A tap that drips once every second waste about 1000 liters of water every month. In their first year from Feb. 2007 (International Year of Water) to Feb. 2008 Drop Dead Foundation has visited 1666 houses in Mira Road, fixed 414 leaking taps free of charge and saved about 4.14 lakh liters of water. In the last eight years the average total comes to approximately  3 million liters of water saved.  Imagine 3 million bottles of drinking water saved from going down the drain.Tippy Tap

The tippy tap is a hands free way to wash your hands that is especially appropriate for rural areas where there is no running water. It is operated by a foot lever and thus reduces the chance for bacteria transmission as the user touches only the soap. It uses only 40 millilitres of water to wash your hands versus 500 milliliter's using a mug. Additionally, the used “waste” water can go to plants or back into the water table.
