eSprIT assessment Tool

teracomm created a special tool through which our client eSprIt could collect qualitative feedback from customers and client database via an application that is loaded on a tablet.

tablets are placed in each of esprit’s store locations and aim to collect information on topics important for the brand: the quality of service, variety of articles and sizes, nice atmosphere, friendly staff, etc.

this way feedback is collected and is used as external evaluation of the staff.

thanks to the established database it was possible to send advertising SMS messages and newsletters in order to increase sales and build brand loyalty.

emeka gave 40 000 bgN to their fans

Between April and May anyone who purchased an emeka’s

product had a chance to participate in this promotion by registering a promo code printed on the inside of the package of each product.

every day 1,000 Bgn were given away as prizes for 2 whole

months. the brand’s generosity came from the fact that Ficosota

(emeka is part of its portfolio) celebrated its 20-year birthday on

07/19/2014.

You can find more about the event in the “events” section.

HAppY also chose teracomm and trusted our team to create an application which explores the menu of the restau-rant.

Its aim is to provide clients with the opportunity to play Android tV’s game with an air mouse in their hands, creating individual menus according to specific requirements. If the customer succeeds with the task in 2 minutes or less, a reward is given.

who will be the next owner of the Macedonian Mobile operator ONe?

Although several months ago it was announced that the Deutsche telekom offer was the highest, it was recently revealed that the bid by Bain Capital in providence equity partners exceeds it. the latter offered between 150 and 160 euros per share, while the germans’ price was 140 euros.

the Slovenian government is expecting the price per share to reach 200 euros. the deadline for selecting the new owner of telekom Slovenije is by the end of this fall. If that happens to be Deutsche tel-ekom, the germans will con-solidate their positions in the Macedonian market, where the company already owns the Macedonian telecom

eight unofficial offers were made for the Slovenian telecommunications giant - telekom Slovenije, owner of the Macedonian operator.

According to Slovenian media, the possible new owners are russian MtS, turkcell, german Deutsche telekom, financial funds Apollo global Management, Cinven, CVC Capital partners, ppF group, Apax or Bain Capital in provi-dence equity partners.

In 2012 the Short Message Service turned 20

Page 13: Alltermag Issue 00

HOT TOpIC: a brIeF HISTOry OF THe SMS

the first SMS text was sent 20 years ago today by neil papworth, then

a 22-year-old communications engineer working in the United Kingdom. papworth’s SMS — Short Messaging Service — text was sent from a pC (phones didn’t yet have keyboards) to a friend at a holiday party across town and read simply, “Merry Christmas.”

Here, a brief history of the humble beginnings and ensuing explosion of texting.

Hmm.. yeah, in that simple and at the same time beautiful way the his-tory of SMS communication began, and it changed forever the way people interact.

Sitting at a typewriter at his home in Bonn, germa-ny, Friedhelm Hillebrand types random sentences and questions, counting every letter, number, and space. Almost every time, the messages amount to fewer than 160 characters — what would become the limit of early text messages — and thus the concept for the perfect-length, rapid-fire “short message” was born. “perfectly sufficient,” Hillebrand would re-call later about his discovery, which came long before mobile phones were an everyday tool.

An idea is born

Vodafone — one of only two mobile networks in the U.K. — launches a share-price alert system for business people.

papworth, a former developer at Sema group telecoms, sends the world’s first SMS greeting to his friend richard Jarvis, who at the time worked at U.K. service Vodafone. Jarvis couldn’t say “Merry Christmas” back, because his brick-sized orbitel 901 phone had no way of inputting text.

2012

Although some 7.4 trillion SMS texts were sent in 2011, up 44 percent from the year before, texting in the U.K., Sweden, the U.S., and other countries begins to see a decline in 2012, according to several research firms. Some critics say that text messaging simply isn’t evolving. others point out that consumers still have to pay to use the service, and many are instead looking to free messaging options. “It comes down to cost,” Chris ziegler, a mobile phone expert and senior editor at the Verge, tells ABC news. there are more alternatives than ever with BBM, iMessage, WhatsApp, and more. A “savvy subscriber can dispense of their text messaging plan altogether.”

Despite the domination that hundreds of messengers are already trying to impose, it is still waiting to happen. SMS messages remain an unbeatable technology. traditional text messages became an alternative method of communication in the modern age of mobile marketing, a method of receiving news, various notifications, disaster warnings and most importantly - the most convenient payment method created to date. only the future will show what else can come of this simple but brilliant 140-character discovery - the Short Message Service.
