The Sacrament of Reconciliation: Confessions are heard each week on Saturday at the Church (SR #46) from 3:45pm to 4:45pm Learn more about this beautiful sacrament by visiting our website: www.allsoulssanford.org/reconciliation The Sacrament of Baptism: Call the parish office to learn the necessary requirements and make an appointment with Father Kenneth Metz to have your child baptized. Ask us about the requirements for Godparents. The Sacrament of Marriage: Getting married? Congratulations! Please contact Ann Cammarata at the parish office as soon as possible after your engagement if you would like to be married at All Souls Catholic Church. Lead with your heart.....Eleanor Tolley [email protected]

In fact, if a friendship or romantic relationship--new or old--becomes characterized by imposed obligations, we would rightly be suspicious. Friendships, we understand, ought to be characterized by freedom. We love the person, even sacrifice for them at times because, within ourselves, we want to maintain the friendship. So why does Jesus use the language of command as he calls the Apostles his friends? "You are my friends if you do what I command you." Jesus is radically transforming the concept of commandment. In the Jewish heritage of the Apostles, they would hear the word "command" and immediately think of the strict Levitical law and distance from God. In introducing the language of friendship, Jesus ties "commandment" to inner freedom of heart. The disciples have this freedom precisely because they know "what [the] Master is doing." Jesus has invited his followers into intimate friendship all along. He shares openly with them. He has patience with their flaws. He isn't scandalized by their failures. He celebrates their successes. We, too, have been called by love and invited into a relationship with Jesus. It is you and I that Jesus chooses and appoints. He does so personally, not from a distant mountain shrouded in clouds. This "new commandment" to "love one another" is received around the shared table in the breaking of the bread. LPI, Inc.

Those left behind when a family member is incarcerated are just as affected as the inmates themselves. "Outmates" need not be isolated by this experience. Families reaching out to each other can help ease the pain. We offer each other information and support. Faces of our Society: Charlie Moore on becoming a Vincentian: “Because God wanted me to.” Inspired by Gospel values, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul conference at All Souls Catholic Church is a Catholic lay organization that leads people to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to the needy and suffering in our community. Vincentians witness God's love by embracing all works of charity and

justice, making no distinction in those served because in them we see the face of Christ. Volunteers are needed to work directly with families and daily Society activities. Call the Assistance Hotline at 407.330.4400 to volunteer.

First Reading: Peter's insight--"In truth, I see that God shows no partiality"--led to the acceptance of Gentiles into the early Church. How can this insight be applied to the Church today? Second Reading: John taught his faith community that "God is love" and God's love is shown to us by sending his Son into the world to atone for our sins. What does this tell us about humanity? Gospel Reading: Jesus taught his disciples that there is "no greater love than this, to lay down one's life for one's friends." When have you seen someone follow this command?
