REMINDER ABOUT CHANGESDURING COMMUNION TIME

• Stand once the priest has received communion (we stand

united during Communion -- that includes Communion

of the lay ministers)

• Remain standing until the last person receives

Communion, when the music ends

• Kneel or sit in private prayer with your total attention

on Jesus, whom you have just received. You are now a

tabernacle - your attention should not be on the priest,

but on Jesus within you.

• When the priest sits, he is entering into his own private

prayer. It is appropriate to remain kneeling or sitting in

prayer during this time.

Understanding My Value ToMy Church Community

Laura Humphries, Parish Life Coordinator

People were bringing even infants to him that he mighttouch them, and when the disciples saw this, theyrebuked them. Jesus, however, called the children tohimself and said, “Let the children come to me and donot prevent them; for the kingdom of God belongs to suchas these. Amen, I say to you, whoever does not acceptthe kingdom of God like a child will not enter it.” (Lk 18:15-17)

Let’s place ourselves inside this scene and see what detailswe notice. You are someone who happened to be passingby the synagogue where Jesus had been doing someteaching. Waiting for him on the outside were a couple ofwomen who had brought their infants for a blessing. Someother women noticed this and hurried off to get their infantstoo. When Jesus came out and saw this, he beamed. Hetook each infant in his arms, spoke to each baby as onedoes to an infant, and placed a hand on its head as heprayed a blessing with his eyes closed. When the disciplessaw other women coming with their infants, they went overto them and said that Jesus could only do the ones alreadythere. He had to be moving on. Jesus saw this as he wasgiving an infant back to its mother. He acted quickly. Totallyignoring the disciples, he looked straight at the womenarriving and said not to worry – he had plenty of time forall of them.

It’s not simply that Jesus loved infants. He wanted everyoneto know that the way a mother loves these little ones – thatis how God loves us. Back to the pivotal truth: it’s all a giftfrom God. An excerpt from The Little Burgundy Book

Children are gifts from God just as God’s love for us is agift. God loves us no matter what we do or don’t do.Children can teach us a great many things, one of thosethings is blind trust; just as we can have with the Lord, children trust that we will take care of them. We can trustthat God will take care of us and believe that no matterwhat, he will always have time for us. Just like he did forthe mothers who went back and got their infants andbrought them to him for a blessing, he will always maketime for us. God is good.

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament

Eucharistic adoration is the act of worshiping God as He ispresent in the consecrated Eucharist. Since the Last Sup-per, when Jesus broke the bread and distributed the wine, saying, “This is my Body” and “This is my Blood,” Catho-lics have believed that the bread and wine are no longermerely baked wheat and fermented grape juice, but theactual living presence of the Second Person of the Trinity.Spending time before the Blessed Sacrament, in prayerand devotion is exactly the same as spending time beforethe living God.

Every Wednesday from 9am to 5:15pm the BlessedSacrament is exposed for Adoration in the Church. Wouldyou like to spend an hour on Wednesdays with the Lord? You may either sign up for a specific hour each Wednesday(we need to be sure someone is in the church every hourduring Adoration) or just drop by for a visit. Please call thechurch office to sign up.
