29 July 2019 Term 3 Week 2
It certainly is shaping up to be another busy term, so please make sure you keep those
calendars up to date!
Tomorrow, we will be welcoming well-known children’s author, Tristan Bancks, to our school
to share his thoughts about writing. This is an incredible opportunity for the children to hear
from a published author about how to get ideas for writing and how to achieve success in
this field. I am sure this will be a very inspiring afternoon for the students.
Scripture classes will resume today. As there is no teacher for Primary Ethics this
term, this class cannot be offered. If a trained teacher becomes available, the students may
opt to enrol in an Ethics class.
The School Choir will be performing next week at the Arts Alive Choral Concert held at the
Opera House. This is a spectacular event and a privilege to be a part of. If your child is in the
choir, please make sure they are ready for the event next week and organised for the day. I
thank Mrs Broome for getting the children ready for the concert and making the necessary
arrangements to ensure a successful performance.
The 2020 Kindergarten Orientation morning will be held on Friday 16 August from 9.15am. If
you know any families with students who are ready to enrol at school, please share this
information with them. We will be sending out flyers to the community and displaying posters
in local establishments.
After successful trials with Year 1 and 2 families in Mr Teunis’ class, we have decided to go
ahead with engaging a communication app, called Skool Loop, to enhance the
dissemination of important messages throughout the school. It is a free app and very user
friendly. More information about the app follows in the newsletter.
Results from the Athletics Carnival are due to be announced this week. Those students who
have been successful in qualifying for the Zone Athletics Carnival will be notified as soon as
possible. The Zone Athletics Carnival will be held on Friday 30 August at Narrabeen Sports
Academy.
We will be having a mufti day for Jeans for Genes Day on Thursday 1 August. The students
are asked to bring a gold coin donation on the day.
The Brooklyn Public School Trivia Night is coming up on Saturday 4 August. This is always a
fabulous event and a highlight of the year! More information about the evening can be found
later in the newsletter.
The next P&C Meeting will be held in the school library on Wednesday 31 July from 6.30pm.
Come along and get involved in making this school an even better place for your children to
be!
