GREETINGS & THANK YOU for your continued patronage! We have an exciting line-up of products for 2012 and are pleased to offer our customers cutting edge technology in every category.

The Tier IV Engines are exhibiting more power on less fuel. Our guidance products allow sub-inch accuracy for planting and tillage. Our Case IH Planter delivers accuracy and quick seed emergence without any short line attachments. The 870 Ecolo-Tiger is garnering the lion’s share of the fall tillage market because it does the best job of residue incorporation and leaves a level finished field. Farmers are also recognizing the value of the original vertical tillage tool, the McFarlane Reel Disk, which sizes and incorporates without creating a stratification layer. We continue selling ThunderCreek Fuel Trailers, some with generators and compressors built in. The 35’ hose reel with 50 GPM pumps are the most common options. We have come a long way since the 5 gallon fuel cans with a funnel!

We are blessed to have the fourth generation of family involved in our business. Michael Dohman, Lynn’s son-in-law, is assistant store manager at Ottawa. Katrina Stoller, Clark’s daughter, is our marketing manager and in charge of internet wholegoods sales. Candice Dohman, Lynn’s daughter, heads up the HR department. Mclane Steidinger, Clark’s son-in-law is involved in the shop at Pontiac. Holly Kellenberger, Lynn’s daughter assists with payroll. Tommy Hoerr, Lynn’s son-in-law, is one of the CPA’s in the Pontiac office. Josh Schick, Lynn’s son-in-law, is involved in sales and building excavation.

Top Maintenance Tips to Prep Your Planter NowA bountiful harvest begins with your planter. Preparing for planting means more than selecting the right genetics. It’s important to remember some critical planter maintenance tips and adjustments for this year’s planting:

•Checkplantertirepressures—thisiseasilyoverlookedandforgotten, but critical for proper planter operation and speed control•IntheAdvancedSeedMeter(ASM),checktheseeddisc,seeddisccover,andsingulatorspoolsforwear—eachcomponent has wear groves that indicate when that particular component is worn out•Checkanyandallchainsforpropertensionandlubricationand replace any chains that are damaged or have frozen links•Checkthediameteroftheopenerdisconeachrowunit,as well as the gap between the opener disc and replace any openerthatislessthan13.5inchesindiameter—thedistancebetween the openers should be between 0 and 1/16 inches•Checkfirmingpointwearwithfirmingpointgaugeandreplace if the tip of the firming point does not appear in the gauge opening NOTE: Replace opening discs and the firming point on a row unit in sets to maintain an even depth and soil contact characteristics, and to promote even wear patterns
