A PUBLICATION OF ARMENIAN DEMOCRATIC LIBERAL PARTY, WESTERN DISTRICT COMMITTEE OF THE UNITED STATES

Thursday, May 23, 2013Volume 91, No. 21

WASHINGTON, DC – As Turkey’sPrime Minister Recep Erdogan continueshis official U.S. state visit, a bipartisangroup of U.S. Representatives introducedthe Armenian Genocide Truth and JusticeAct, a new measure calling upon the Presi-dent to build upon the U.S. record of hav-ing recognized the Armenian Genocide byworking toward improved Armenian-Turkish relations based upon the Republicof Turkey's full acknowledgement of thefacts and ongoing consequences of the Ar-menian Genocide, and a fair, just, and com-prehensive international resolution of thiscrime. “We welcome today's introductionof the Armenian Genocide Truth and Jus-tice Act," saidAramHamparian, ExecutiveDirector of theANCA. “This innovative bi-partisan initiative, building upon the U.S.record of having recognized the ArmenianGenocide, calls for a new U.S. approach toArmenian-Turkish ties that reflects ourAmerica values and recognizes that our na-tional interests require an end to Turkey'sdenials and a truthful, just, and compre-hensive international resolution of thiscrime.”

TheArmenian Genocide Truth and Jus-tice Act, introduced by RepresentativesMichael Grimm (R-NY), Adam Schiff (D-CA), David Valadao (R-CA) and Frank Pal-lone (D-NJ), reflects and reinforcesprevious U.S. affirmation of the ArmenianGenocide as a crime of genocide, citing theU.S. Government's May 28, 1951 writtenstatement to the International Court of Jus-tice regarding the Convention on the Pre-vention and Punishment of the Crime ofGenocide, President Ronald Reagan'sApril22, 1981 Proclamation and Congressionaladoption ofArmenian Genocide legislationin 1975 and 1984.

“Almost a century ago, over a millionArmenian men, women, and innocent chil-dren were mercilessly put to death byforces of the Ottoman Empire in a horrify-ing attempt to wipe them from the face ofthe earth,” said Rep. Grimm. “The U.S. hastirelessly defended justice and humanrights throughout the world, andwe have asolemn duty to recognize, once and for all,the injustices of the Armenian Genocide. On behalf of the Armenian community inNew York City, I am proud to join with mycolleagues on both sides of the aisle in in-troducing Armenian Genocide Truth andJustice Act.”

“The facts of history are well-settled –1.5 million Armenian men, women andchildren were deliberately murdered in thefirst genocide of the 20th Century,” Rep.Schiff said. “With each passing day, we losea few more of the dwindling number ofsurvivors. We should all feel a powerfulsense of urgency, and the profound call ofmoral duty to recognize the ArmenianGenocide unequivocally and without

delay.”Congressman Valadao stated, “Many of

those able to flee during the genocide im-migrated to the United States and settled inCalifornia. Today, their families continue togrow, thrive, and instill their cultural her-itage in their adopted communities. How-ever, the sense of loss as a result of thesehorrific acts runs deep as manyArmenian-Americans in my district personally knowa friend or family member whowas unableto escape the genocide. We must ensurethat the United States government properlyacknowledges what so many already knowto be true.”

“The time for the U.S. to officially rec-ognize the Armenian Genocide is longoverdue,” said Congressman Frank Pal-lone, Co-Chair of the Congressional Cau-cus on Armenian Issues. “Armenia standsas a resilient ally of the United States and anation dedicated to democracy and re-gional stability, and the Resolution intro-duced today shows that we will not standidly by when the truth of this genocide isdistorted by the Turkish government.”

NEWS.am - Armenian-Turkish rela-tions likewise were discussed during themeeting that was held in Washington, DC.between US President Barack Obama andTurkish PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

During the news conference followingthe 2.5-hour talk, the Turkish PM noted thataside from the Syrian developments, whichwere their main agenda item, they also dis-cussed issues onAzerbaijan,Armenia, Iran, andAfghanistan, Sozcu daily of Turkey re-ports.

Separately, Mevlut Cavusoglu, the per-son in charge of the external relations of

Turkey’s ruling Justice and DevelopmentParty (AKP), noted on NTV television that, during his talk with the US President, Er-dogan also brought the Cyprus and theNagorno-Karabakh issues into the agenda.

The demon-strators chantedanti-governmentslogans andblamed the Turk-ish governmentfor last week-end’s twin bomb-ings."

Turkish po-lice have clashedwith demonstra-tors protestingagainst Ankara’ssupport for Syr-ian militants inthe wake of thetwo recent car bomb attacks in the southerntown of Reyhanli.

On Saturday, demonstrators took tostreets in Reyhanli town of Turkey’s south-ern Hatay province to protest against thepolicies of the ruling Justice and Develop-ment Party.

The demonstrators chanted anti-gov-ernment slogans and blamed the Turkishgovernment for last weekend’s twin bomb-ings, which killed at least 51 people and in-jured about 100 others.

Security forces clashed with protesters, and used water cannons to disperse thecrowd.

Hatay Governor Mehmet CelalettinLekesiz told reporters on Friday that policehad detained a prime suspect in connectionwith the Reyhanli explosions.

The suspect, identified asMehmet G., issaid to be the owner of the two vehicles thatwere blown up in the attacks. He is of Turk-ish origin and comes from Hatay Province.

Efforts are ongoing to capture two othersuspects who played a major role in thestaging of the bloody attacks.

Turkey says Syria was behind May 11bombings in Hatay Province, but the Syriangovernment has dismissed the claim.

Syria Information Minister Omran al-Zohbi told a news conference on May 12that his country "did not commit andwouldnever commit such an act because our val-ues would not allow that."

The Syrian minister also stated thatTurkey has planned the attacks to use themas a pretext to justify foreign intervention inSyria.

In previous PARTs it was shown thatthe great civilizations of the Maya, Incaand the Aztec of Middle and South Amer-icas were influenced by Armenoids; thatthe Polynesian, Melanesian and NewGuinea Islands were subject to threewaves of Armenoids and that the Polyne-sian language is deeply influenced by Ar-menian; that the Portuguese and Spanishchronicles relate as how their lands werefirst settled by Armenians. In PART VIIand VIII we shall demonstrate, based onBritish ancient records, archeological re-mains, unearthed skulls, and place names, that the earliet settlers of the British andIrish Islands (hereafter called Isles) weremigrants from Armenia, especially fromthe Lake VAN region. This bloodline con-tinues even today in the ancestry of theBritish Princes William and Harrythrough their mother Princess DianaSpencer.

A- The Anglo-Saxon Chronicle.The Anglo--Saxon Chronicle was cre-

ated in late 9th century A.D.. and writtenin Old English. It is a collection of annalsof history of the Anglo-Saxons. The periodof its writing is during the reign of Alfredthe Great (871-899). Copies of the originalwere made and distributed to majormonasteries in England.

The original manuscript is extant, butnine copies have survived with modifica-tions made to them. These copies remainin Britain.

The Chronicle starts with the earliestdate of 60 B.C., the year Caesar invadedBritain; thereafter, recording year by yearthe history of Britain.

The Chrnicle is the original and au-thentic testimony of contemporary writ-ers of the day. It represents thechronological history of the people ofBritain and Ireland, described by differentscribes at different ages which combinedto give a panoramic view of the history.

In some versions the various scribesaltered parts of the original manuscript. But as a whole, the collection is the mostimportant historical source of British his-tory recording the events between theRoman conquest of England to the time ofthe Norman Conquest. Beside history, theChronicle gives information about theMiddle English language and vernacularlanguage of the scribes who made thecopies. The earliest manuscript was writ-ten by a scribe c. 891 A.D. in Wessex.

Above is the picture of the first pageof the Chronicle. The first six lines read asfollows:

”The Island Britain is 800 miles long, and 200 miles broad. And there are in theisland five nations; English, Welsh (orBritish), Scottish, Pictish, and Latin. Thefirst inhabitants were the Britons, whocame from Armenia and first peopledBritain southward.”

It is significant that Armenia is men-tioned as the original homeland of theBritish, while the other nations are notgiven a specific homeland, except thePicts who came from Scythia––Scythia isa broad term that encompasses Russiansteppes.

What say ye, will ask the reader? Thefirst inhabitants of Britain, the British na-tion, came fromArmenia? Does that meanthe British are of Armenian blood?

This statement by the Chronicle thatthe British came form Armenia waxes theArmenophobe scholars and does notagree with their anti-Armenian stance. Why? The reader may ask? The reason isthe following:

In 731 A.D., Bede, also known as SaintBede the Venerable, wrote in Latin, thebook Historia Ecclesiastica Gentes Anglo-rum, that is An Ecclesiastical History ofEnglish people. This book as can be seenwas written 160 years before the Chroni-cle.

As the book titles indicates, the bookrecorded the events of Christianization of

Britain from the time of Roman conquestto Bede’s time. Now this is what Bedesays about populating of Britain:

“The island at present, following thenumber of the books in which the Divinelaw was written, contains five nations, theEnglish, Britons, Scots, Picts, and Latins, each in its own pecular dialect cultivatingthe sublime study of Divine truth. TheLatin tongue is by the study of the Scrip-tures, become common to all the rest. Atfirst this island had no other inhabitantsbut the Britons, from whom it derived itsname, and who coming over into Britain,as is reported, from Armorica [De tractuArmoricano], possessed themselves of thesouthern parts thereof.”

Now Bede’s Ecclesiastica when com-pared to the Chronicle shows one majordifference. In the former the Britons camefrom “Armorica” and in the latter from“Armenia”! And it is this two differentBritish homelands that have caused theanti-Armenian scholars the ammunitionto claim that the scribe of the Chroniclemade a mistake inserting Armenia insteadof Armorica. But who was correct, Bedewho wrote that the British came from thenorth-western small penninsula of Franceor the Chronicle that brings the Britishfrom far away Armenia?

When speaking of the Picts, both Bedeand the Chronicle state that these peoplecame form Scythia. Now Scythia is thesteppes of Russia whose domain extendedas far as the borders of Central Asia to theEast and Armenia to the South. Scythia isas far away a land, and more so, than Ar-menia. And yet no scholar rejects the com-ing of the Picts from Scythia! And no“learned” historian questions as wherefrom did the Armoricans come?

In this brief study we shall researchnot just what Bede or the Chronicle sayabout the original homeland of the mostancient settlers of both Isles. We shall re-search the evidence that indeed sinceStone Age, the Isles were settled byhunter-gatherer tribes from the Lake Vanregion of Armenia, c. following the IceAge meltdown.

The evidence that will be searched forare the skeletal remains of the most an-cient dwellers of the Isles, the materialculture they left behind; such as stonetools, weapons and artifacts; and the to-ponyms or names of rivers, mountains, towns and villages that correspond to theVan region of Armenia. The migrationswere in two waves. The Stone Age primi-tive people who are described as ofshorter stature. And the second wave ofthe Armeno-Aryans, who were taller andwho possessed knowlege of agriculture;horse and animal husbandry; who couldbuild wheeled carts for long distncetravel; and knew how to mine metals, smelt them and make bronze or ironweapons and artifacts.

These scientific search shall once andfor all demonstrte that indeed the Chron-icle was correct that the origin of theBritish should be searched in Armenia!

migrated and settled in British and Irish Is-lands?

Syrian President BasharAssad has wel-comed the proposed peace talks for Syriaagreed by Russia and the US, but voicedhis skepticism about their prospects forsuccess, saying that many forces don't re-ally want to see a solution.

Speaking to Argentine newspaperClarin and Telam news agency in Damas-cus, Assad said that “believing that a po-litical conference will stop terrorism on theground is unreal.”

Washington and Moscow have been atodds since the beginning of the Syrian cri-sis, but are now aiming to find commonground as they push for talks to take placebetween Assad’s regime and the opposi-tion. If the efforts are successful, there arehopes that talks could take place at the endof this month and could lead to a multilat-eral summit.

“We welcome the Russian-US rap-prochement and hope that an internationalmeeting will take place to help the Syriansovercome the crisis ,” he said. “But wedon’t think that a lot of Western nations re-ally want to see a solution in Syria. And wedon’t think that those many forces thathelp the terrorists want a solution to thecrisis.”

As world powers lock horns over theSyrian conflict, Assad stressed that foreign

states will not act as decision-makers in thecrisis and any decision about reform inSyria will come from within.

He specifically addressed US Secretaryof State John Kerry, who stated that Assadcould play a major role in achieving peaceby stepping down.

“I wonder how Kerry or anyone elsehas received a mandate from the Syrianpeople to decide whether someone shouldstay or go. Any decision about reforms inSyria will come from Syria, and neither theUS nor any other state can intervene,” hestated.

Assad also reassured that he will notforsake his duty or his responsibilities. “

The captain does not flee his ship dur-ing a storm. The first thing he does is facethe storm and guide the ship back to safety," he said. "

I am not someone who flees from myresponsibilities." The president stated onceagain that he was open to dialogue, main-taining that he wanted what was best forthe Syrian people. However he underlinedthat there would be no dialogue with ter-rorists.

“Terrorism struck the United Statesand Europe – of course no government iswilling to negotiate with terrorists. A dia-logue with political force, but not with aterrorist who decapitates, murders anduses toxic gases which are chemicalweapons,” he stated.

The Syrian civil war has been ragingfor more than two years now, with morethan 80,000 people killed, according to UNestimates.

The controversy comes as a joint newsconference with Turkish Prime Minster,Tayyip Erdogan, and President Obama washeld Thursday. Obama said that the US re-serves the right to resort to diplomatic andmilitary options if there is conclusive proofthat Assad has used chemical weapons.

"There are a whole range of options thatthe United States is already engaged in…And I reserve the options of taking additionalsteps, both diplomatic and military, becausethose chemical weapons inside of Syria alsothreaten our security over the long term aswell as our allies and friends and neighbors."

Erdogan, for his part, added that “endingthis bloody process in Syria andmeeting thelegitimate demands of the people by estab-lishing a new government are two areaswhere we are in full agreement with the US.We also agree that we have to prevent Syriafrom becoming an area for terrorist organi-zations.We also agree that chemicalweapons

should not be used.”But Aleksandr Lukashevich, a

spokesman for the Russian ForeignMinistry, saidMonday that the accusation that the Syr-ian regime has used chemicalweapons couldbe a sign that public opinion is being pre-pared for the possibility ofmilitary interven-tion in Syria.

“A lot of reasoning appeared in a num-ber of Arab and other international massmedia regarding the use of chemicalweapons in the standoff between the gov-ernment forces and the opposition guerril-las,” he warned.

Speaking to Lebanon's Al Mayadeen TVchannel Russian Foreign Minister SergeyLavrov said Moscow will make no “back-stage” agreements on Syria in exchange forWestern concessions on missile defense orany other disputed issues.

“This is not serious. I think that thosewho try suggest that indulge in wishfulthinking,” Lavrov said in an interview withLebanon's Al Mayadeen TV channel.

“Everyone knows well that Russia’sstance on a whole range of crucial issues isnot opportunistic,” the Russian top diplomatemphasized.

Intense fighting is reported from thestrategic Syrian town of Qusair, as rebelsand government forces fight to control thearea. Opposition activists say 30 membersof Hezbollah were killed, while the gov-ernment claims to have captured the area.

Earlier Monday, Syrian state newsagency SANA reported that the army had"restored security and stability to most Qu-sair neighborhoods" and was "chasing theremnants of the terrorists in the northerndistrict.” The agency quoted a militarysource as saying that army units disman-tled a number of explosive devices, plantedby terrorists in al-Souk area in the middleof the city.

The source added that army units arecontinuing hunting the remnants of terror-ists in some hideouts in the northern andsouthern areas of the city.

“The Syrian army managed to make afull circle around the city, fighting the op-position fighters. The main achievement isto stop the line of supply chain betweenLebanon and Syria,” local journalist Abdal-lah Mawazini told RT.

“They started from the western side ofthe city, in the rural areas. They control thiszone with some fighters from Lebanon. Some extremist groups were preparing togo into Syria to fight with the rebels, theywere going to go make a bigger front in

order to fight and expand the fighting linebetween the government and the opposi-tion,” he said.

But opposition activists denied that Qu-sair had been captured, saying that theyhad pushed back most of the attackingforces to their original positions, destroyingat least four Syrian army tanks and fivelight Hezbollah vehicles.

Troops backed by Hezbollah “made in-cursions into Qusair, but they are now ba-sically back to where they started at thesecurity compounds in east Qusair and ata...roadblock to the south,” local activistTareq Murei told Reuters.

Murei said that six people were killedby Hezbollah’s multiple rocket launches onMonday.

The Syrian Observatory for HumanRights said that 48 rebels had been killed,as well as four civilians. The Observatory'sdirector, RahimAbdurahman, put Hezbol-lah casualties at 23 dead and 70 wounded.Lebanese security sources said at least 12Hezbollah fighters had been killed.

Qusair, which is about 18 miles (29km)southwest of Homs, is seen as a key city forboth sides. It helps link the Syrian capitalof Damascus with government strongholdson the Mediterranean coast and is a pas-sageway for rebel supplies and fightersfrom Lebanon.

Venezuela Says TakingSteps To Restore U.S.Diplomatic Ties

Venezuela's recent designation of anacting head of its diplomatic mission in theUnited States shows the OPEC nation's de-sire to restore full diplomatic relations, theforeignminister said in an interview broad-cast on Sunday, according to Reuters.

Disputes between Caracas and Wash-ington were common during the 14-year-rule of late socialist leader Hugo Chavez, leaving both nations without ambassadorsin each other's capitals.

Foreign Minister Elias Jaua suggestedin a televised interview that the move toname government ally Calixto Ortega ascharge d'affaires in Washington could be aprelude to restoring ambassadors.

"This is a message for U.S. politicians sothey understand Venezuela's desire to nor-malize relations ... via the designation ofthe highest diplomatic authorities," he said."Why? Because the United States remainsour top trade partner." Venezuelan Presi-dent Nicolas Maduro has in recent monthssaid he wants better ties with Washingtonas long as the relationship is respectful. Buthe has also accused the United States ofseeking to destabilize the country.

Last month, he slammed the UnitedStates for "vulgar" meddling after the StateDepartment said it had not decided if itwould recognize his presidency and sup-ported opposition calls for a vote recountafter the April 14 election.
