STATE TIMES NEWS AKHNOOR: Minister forPHE, Irrigation and FloodControl Sham LalChoudhary and MemberParliament Jugal KishoreSharma on Sunday laidfoundation stone of WaterSupply Scheme (WSS),Kangar in AkhnoorConstituency.

The WSS, with a capacityof 5,000 gallons per hour,has been taken up underNational Rural DrinkingWater Programme(NRDWP) and would becompleted at an estimatedcost of Rs 2 crore. On itscompletion, the scheme willbenefit approximately 2,580villagers living in Kangarand adjoining areas.

During the visit toAkhnoor, Sham LalChoudhary along with MPJugal Kishore also inaugu-rated recently completed Rs1.56 Cr Water SupplyScheme under NRDWP atAmbi Danna in AkhnoorBlock. It will cater to thedrinking water needs ofAmbi and Danna villages

having an approximate pop-ulation of over 1,500 souls.

Later, they also dedicatedanother newly completedNRDWP Water SupplyScheme in Gulaba Chapperarea to the people. Thiswater supply scheme hasbeen completed at a cost ofRs 1.82 crore and will bene-fit several villages.

Pertinently, National RuralDrinking Water Programme(NRDWP) caters to theemerging challenges in avail-ability, sustainability andquality of drinking water inrural areas.

Kangar, Ambi Danna andGulaba Chapper, Sham LalChoudhary said that coali-tion government has accord-ed focused attention toupgrade infrastructure toprovide all basic facilities inevery nook and corner of thestate, right from its forma-tion. He said development ofall three regions is the agen-da of the CoalitionGovernment which is fullysupported by the centre gov-ernment under the leader-ship of Prime MinisterNarendra Modi. years, massive developmenthas taken place in all vitalsectors.

Reasserting the govern-ment's resolve to provide safedrinking Water to people, theminister asked the depart-ment heads to monitor thefunctioning of field staff toensure transparency,accountability and efficientservices. "The first and fore-most motive of PHE depart-ment is to provide cleandrinking water to each andevery household in the Statewith special focus on borderand kandi areas," he added.

In his address, MemberParliament, Jugal KishoreSharma highlighted the wel-fare programs and schemeslaunched by the NarendraModi led government at thecentre. He stressed on effec-tive implementation of thewelfare schemes that focuson empowerment of women,raising the living standardsof the poor and providingemployment opportunities tothe youth.

Responding to the people'sdemands, the Minister andMember Parliament assuredthe people that water tankerwould be provided withinmonths' time to overcomethe drinking water problemin Dhori Village. They alsoassured the people that issueof proper functioning of vet-erinary dispensary andPrimary Health Centre inthe village would be takenwith the concerned quarters.

Member Parliamentassured the people to redresstheir demands with regard toblacktopping of various linkroads. He also assured forblacktopping of 37 kms main

road to Battal at the earliest.He announced Rs 5 lakh forstadium at Ambi Danna andRs 5 lakh for village GulabaChapper.

MLA Rajeev Sharma high-lighted development worksbeing executed in Akhnoorand said that the govern-ment believes in efficientworking as a tool to measuresuccess of various govern-ment interventions andschemes.

Later, the Minister alsoconvened a public grievanceredressal camp atSuchetgarh in which the peo-ple hailing from BadyalBrahmana, Rangpur,Satriyan, Samka, GoparBasti, Gharana, Gharani,Baspur, Dablehar and otheradjoining villages participat-ed. The villagers apprisedthe Minister about the prob-lems being faced by themrelated to power supply, roadconnectivity, healthcare andother basic amenities. TheMinister assured them thatall their genuine grievanceswould be redressed in a timebound manner.

STATE TIMES NEWS KISHTWAR: District DevelopmentCommissioner Kishtwar Angrez SinghRana on Sunday called upon public tocooperate with the departments inremoving bottlenecks hampering devel-opmental works. He also warned thatlaw shall take its own course against thepersons involved in causing hindrancesin the smooth execution of the works.

He was speaking at a public meetinghere at Gulabgarh (Padder) to get first-hand appraisal of the developmental sce-nario in the area and to have direct inter-action with the local residents about theproblem they face in day to day life.

Rana passed on spot directions tothe concerned officers to resolve theissues on priority basis and assured thepublic that the matters which do notcome under the compliance of the DDCwould be taken up with the higher

authorities.The DDC directed the officers of

KVIB , Handicraft Handloom, SocialWelfare Sheep/ Animal Husbandry,Labour, Horticulture, Agriculture - thedepartments directly involved with theschemes meant for the uplift of the poormasses to organize awareness camps atGulabgarh Padder.

Certain innovative suggestions regard-ing the improvement / development ofGulabargh were also given by the partic-ipants.

The DDC assured that the beautifica-tion of Gulabgarh which includes illumi-nations from Entry gate to Helipad,parking yards, and parks shall be com-

pleted before the commencement ofcoming Machail Yatra. He said thatbesides pilgrim tourism Gulabgarh willalso be developed as base camp for thetrackers. On spot directions were issuedto the GREF authorities to remove thestructures constructed illegally comingunder the alignment of Galhar Sansariroad under the Magistracy of theTehsildar Padder. SSP Kishtwar AbrarChoudhary who was present on the occa-sion assured full assistance during thedrive against such encroachments.

The DDC also asked GREF authori-ties to complete the blacktopping ofKarthie to Gulabgarh road before theonset of the winter season.

Dr Sharma while interact-ing with the people ofKandharano and otheradjoining villages of the areaand raised serious concernover the betrayal of BJPwith people of Jammu andthe complete failure of PDP-BJP Government on allfronts. "The public of theentire Jammu region hassuffered due to the lack ofgovernance in the previoustwo and half years. Virtuallyall the ministers remainedbusy in enjoying the com-forts whereas the people suf-fered for the want of basicamenities" said and accusedthe BJP that it had surren-dered the interests of theJammuites for the sake ofpower and deceived the peo-ple who voted heavily infavour of the party duringthe last Assembly elections.The AIIMS was shifted awayfrom Jammu to Kashmirregion and it was only due tothe efforts put in by the peo-ple of Jammu that theGovernment was pressurizedto announce another AIIMSat Jammu, but notificationstill awaited, he said.

Failure of governmentexposed the real face of BJPand its leadership before thepublic of the region he saidadding that BJP made tallclaims and raised hollow slo-gans but after coming inpower, it surrendered itselfcompletely at the hands ofPDP only to enjoy power.He appealed to allJammuites to wake up, uniteand fight for common causeof the region.

sentiments of Jammuprovince by making falsepromises particularly dur-ing the electioneering, butpractically they did nothingafter coming in power andreal face of the party isexposed.

He remarked that the boththe Central and the StateGovernments miserablyfailed to create new employ-ment opportunities for theunemployed youth who arefeeling cheated and brewingwith anger and resentment.

Dr. Sharma strongly criti-cized that the BJP-PDPGovt. fail to formulated agood employment policy andthe new BJP-PDP's employ-ment policy which is totallyagainst the interest of edu-cated unemployed youth.

Dr Manohar Lal Sharmaalso criticized the centralgovernment over the steeprise in the prices of essentialcommodities which furtherworsened the financial posi-tion of general public espe-cially in case of food grains,vegitables and other items indaily use.

Listing the failures of boththe Central as well as thestate governments, he statedthat the ministers of thecoalition government patro-nised corruption and pro-moted it in public life.Honest and dedicated offi-cers and the employees wereharassed and put to greattroubles by the coalitionregime as they refused todance to the tunes of thepolitical bosses. Whereas the

corrupt and the inefficientofficers were given prizedpostings due to which thecommon masses sufferedbadly as there was no one tolisten to their genuine issues.The corruption became therule of the day and the pub-lic was made to pay heavybribery to get their genuineand routine works in govern-ment offices.

The government machin-ery was misused for the per-sonal benefits of the minis-ters and political workers.People of village Kandharnoand Rajwalta showed seriousconcern over failure of watersupply of their area sincelast two months.
