Thursday December 20, 2018 4 DISTRICTS LMD recovers Rs 25,000 as fine from Haryana based firm STATE TIMES NEWS POONCH: Legal Metrology Department (LMD) imposed a fine of Rs.25,000 on the management of Haryana based chocolate manufacturing firm for violating the provisions of the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011. During inspection at various retail outlets, the team of LMD headed by Assistant Controller Kewal Krishan observed that small packs of chocolates of various denomina- tions were offered for sale to consumers without declaring the month/Year of packingand details of the manufacturer on these packs. Responding to legal notice of LMD, the management of the firm admitted its guilt and pleaded for composition of the case at department level. The Assistant Controller, on assurance from the defaulter of not repeating this malpractice, compounded the case for Rs 25,000. 5 bovines rescued, smuggler flees STATE TIMES NEWS KATHUA: Police on Wednesday foiled a bovine smuggling by rescuing five bovines, however smuggler managed to escape from the spot. As per the details, acting on a tip off a police team led by Inspector Amit Sangra SHO Police Station Rajbagh estab- lished checkpoint on NH Rajbagh and seized one Mahindra Bolero without registration number carrying five bovines. All the bovines were rescued, however smuggler managed from escape to the spot. A case under section 188 RPC 3/5 PC Act was registered in this regard. 250 pouches of illicit liquor, 100 kgs of Lahan destroyed STATE TIMES NEWS KATHUA: Excise Department destroyed 250 pouches of illicit liquor, besides 100 kgs of Lahan during different raids carried out against illicit liquor in Excise Range Kathua. On the directions of the Excise Commissioner Talat Parvez Rohella and supervision of Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu Syed Muried Hussain Shah the Excise Team Kathua led by ETO Savita Chouhan and Inspectors Arun Kumar and Razi Ahmad along with Sanjeev Kumar, Nitin Sharma and Excise Guards Rajinder Singh, Aqeel Ahmad and Jyoti Prakash Sharma raided the Jakhbar Dhambra, Khokyal, Padyari, Darala and Muthi Khutd areas of Kathua District to arrest the menace of illicit distillation of liquor. In the process 250 pouches of Illicit liquor besides 100 Kgs of Lahan raw material of illicit liquor was recovered by the raiding team from State land and later destroyed on spot. STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI: As a part of vari- ous activities planned under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign, a painting compe- tition was held on Wednesday at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Rajouri. The painting competition was organised by the District Social Welfare Department Rajouri. The events were organised to promote the message of empowerment of girls, reinforce gender equali- ty and to aware people and students about the effects of the decline in sex ratio. Number of students from 11 schools, both private and gov- ernment participated in the competition and expressed their views through the medi- um of colours. The main motive behind organising such competitions at school level was to encour- age the young students to showcase their talent and depict the current happen- ings through their artwork. Vocational training given to 30 youth STATE TIMES NEWS BANIHAL: With an aim to enable the youth to be self employed, army is conducting a 'Mason and Plumbing Course' at Banihal. The course is being con- ducted from Dec 19, 2018 for two weeks. In all 30 youth have so far volun- teered for the course. These youth will be trained on mason and plumbing techniques.
