WE ALREADY DO GREAT WORK. WITH YOUR SUPPORT WE CAN DO EVEN MORE.
Art, in all its forms, speaks a universal language. It is capable of crossing social, racial and cultural barriers to create shared experiences that enrich all aspects of our lives. A society without arts and culture devoid of drama, music, dance, song, painting and literature is one without identity, meaning or purpose.
Rose Theatre Kingston is committed to providing world-class drama, learning and cultural opportunities to meet the demands and needs of the communities we serve. But we can only do this with your help.
We rely on the generous support of donors, grant-giving organisations and the business sector, not just to continue the vital work we do, but to secure financial strength for the future and build a dynamic and vibrant cultural heart for Kingston, south west London and beyond.

SEASON BROCHURE JAN JUL 2015
1Welcome to the new season at the Rose, featuring drama of the highest quality alongside comedy, music, dance and family shows.
In February, we are particularly thrilled to be welcoming back Sally Cookson to stage our very own production of Romeo + Juliet. Sally is an extraordinary director with a unique ability to re-imagine all-time classics, her recent adaptation of Jane Eyre received critical acclaim and five star reviews. She will collaborate once again with the team behind our Hetty Feather to bring her bold and dynamic story-telling to Shakespeares most powerful love story.
Following a national tour in April, we will be presenting David Hare's funny, stinging political drama The Absence of War, a Rose co-production with Headlong and Sheffield Theatres. Starring Reece Dinsdale as Labour Party leader George Jones, this production promises to be the hot ticket during pre-election madness!
The season includes more work from the very best of British writing, including Tim Firths wry reflection on our changing world Sign of the Times and the stage adaptation of John Boyne's poignant novel The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas. Other Rose favourites Propeller and Northern Broadsides are returning with two very different takes on Shakespeare a hilarious 60-minute run of The Comedy of Errors and a visceral King Lear.
Don't miss the new inter-galactic phenomenon that are the Voca People, an amazing group that combines a cappella singing and beat box to create an incredible range of sounds and instruments.
With so much on offer, why not experience more with our season saver or Friends Loyalty Card and take advantage of a series of benefits; or treat yourself to a range of exciting new dishes from our lunch and pre-theatre menus at The Swallow Bakery Caf & Restaurant.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Rose soon.

A gentle comedy drama exploring the power of words and dreams in our changing worlds.

The Comedy of Errors is Shakespeare's funniest and most farcical comedy.
Two sets of estranged twins, separated at birth, find themselves in the same city 25 years later with hilarious consequences. A series of mistaken identities, assumed personas, and wild mishaps bring a family crisis - so complicated that time itself loses the plot - into heart-warming focus. Fortunately the audience is always one step ahead.
Pocket Comedy is a sixty minute version of Propeller's acclaimed production of The Comedy of Errors which has been performed in theatres around the globe.
Suitable for 8 to 80 years plus.

Following hit tours in 2012 and 2014, Craig Gilberts ingenious, acclaimed adaptation of Jerome K Jeromes classic tale of boating misadventure returns to the UK stage armed with more singing, wilder adventures and sporting even brighter blazers.
As part of the 125th anniversary tour the Original Theatre company are delighted to be dropping anchor in the origin of Jerome's nautical journey, Kingston upon Thames.
Originally intended as a guide to boating on the Thames, Jeromes ripping yarn of youthful friendship, mischief and folly celebrates the very essence of Britishness, inspiring many of our comic legends from Morecambe and Wise to Monty Python.

THE BOY IN THE STRIPED PYJAMAS
CHILDREN'S TOURING PARTNERSHIP
Based on the best-selling novel by John Boyne, The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas is a heart-wrenching tale of an unlikely friendship between two innocent boys.
Set during World War II, the story is seen through the innocent eyes of Bruno, the eight-year-old son of the commandant at a concentration camp, whose forbidden friendship with a Jewish boy on the other side of the camp fence has startling and devastating consequences.
Bruno's friendship with Shmuel takes him from innocence to revelation, revealing the poetic irony that through a childs eye everyone can appear the same. A deeply moving and thought provoking production.

King Lear is the story of a family at war. In a turbulent descent into insanity, Lear wrecks his relationship with his three daughters and thus all he holds dear. What is there left for him?
This question, which is Lears predicament and Shakespeares most genius, invites us all to think upon what we might gain when nothing is all we have.
Jonathan Miller brings his remarkable talent for detailed human observation to one of Shakespeares most powerful plays. Artistic Director of Northern Broadsides Barrie Rutter plays the lead role. Be prepared for a Lear stripped back to its heart and soul; intimate, moving and utterly believable.
If youve seen King Lear before, forget everything you know. You will see it afresh.
If you have never seen it, come.
