1Welcome to the new season at the Rose, featuring drama of the highest quality alongside comedy, music, dance and family shows.

In February, we are particularly thrilled to be welcoming back Sally Cookson to stage our very own production of Romeo + Juliet. Sally is an extraordinary director with a unique ability to re-imagine all-time classics, her recent adaptation of Jane Eyre received critical acclaim and five star reviews. She will collaborate once again with the team behind our Hetty Feather to bring her bold and dynamic story-telling to Shakespeares most powerful love story.

Following a national tour in April, we will be presenting David Hare's funny, stinging political drama The Absence of War, a Rose co-production with Headlong and Sheffield Theatres. Starring Reece Dinsdale as Labour Party leader George Jones, this production promises to be the hot ticket during pre-election madness!

The season includes more work from the very best of British writing, including Tim Firths wry reflection on our changing world Sign of the Times and the stage adaptation of John Boyne's poignant novel The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas. Other Rose favourites Propeller and Northern Broadsides are returning with two very different takes on Shakespeare a hilarious 60-minute run of The Comedy of Errors and a visceral King Lear.

The Rose is committed to present work by, for and about young people with a range of special needs. Now in its fifth year, the Roses inclusive festival Let Me In celebrates this work.

Young people with a range of special needs are introduced to the theatre and take part as both performers and audience members, alongside family, friends and carers. Previous contributors have included pupils from Dysart School, Oily Cart, inclusive theatre company Chickenshed, Frozen Light Theatre specialising in multi-sensory productions for teenagers with profound and multiple learning disabilities, workshops from Express CIC, local company Bloomin Arts and the Cornerstone Players, and comedian John Williams.

Internationally acclaimed for her naturalistic style, the artist is best known in the UK for her official Golden Jubilee portrait of H.M. Queen Elizabeth II. A selection of paintings will also be on sale.

SLEEPING BEAUTYSat 24 Jan 7pmThe worlds favourite fairy tale is brought to life in this charming pantomime by local group St Jamess Players, directed by John Taylor and Sarah Collin. This special performance has been commissioned by the Mayor of Kingston to raise funds for the Mayors Charitable Trust.

Booking fees An additional 1 per ticket booking fee and 1.60 per booking transaction fee are payable when booking online and by phone. No fees when booking in person. Please note tickets are not refundable or exchangeable.
