Cover LetterA cover letter serves as an introduction. And it’ll
help hiring managers decide if they’ll even read
your resume!
Top Tips for writing great cover letters:
1 Stay on target
Get to the point immediately. Explain why
you're writing and include the title of the
position you're interested in.
2 Match your skills
Identifying the position's skill requirements is an
important first step. Then, include clear
examples from your previous experience which
reveal that you possess these skills.
3 Demonstrate English ability
Keep your sentences short and clear; do not try
to over-impress by writing complex sentences.
4 Sell yourself
Demonstrating what you can do for the
employer, not the other way around, will make
you stand out from the crowd.
커버 레터커버 레터는 자기 소개서 역할을 합니다. 그리고 심지어는 채용 담당자가 당신의 이력서를 읽어볼 것인지 아닌지를 결정하는데 도움을 주기도 합니다!
훌륭한 커버 레터 작성을 위한 Top Tips:

5 Take the initiative and follow up your
application
Say you’ll call to follow up on your application
and do it. Just a quick call to find out the status
of your application shows initiative.
6 Proofread!
Lastly, look closely for spelling and grammatical
errors and make sure it's not too long. Then
read it again. Would you hire yourself? If not,
revise your cover letter until it’s perfect!

ResumeRemember that your resume is a brief account of
your qualifications and experiences. You may be
perfect for the job, but your resume must look and
say the same!
Top Tips for writing an amazing resume:
1 Review your history
First, make a list of your previous jobs and
educational qualifications. This includes
company information, certificates, degrees, your
job titles and duties, and specific
accomplishments.
2 State your objective
Include a heading at the beginning of your
resume called "Objective" and then write a
short statement. Example: "To work in a
dynamic marketing department."
3 “Duties or accomplishments”?
A “duty” is an assigned task. An
“accomplishment” is an achievement - a
positive result of your efforts. Brag a little! Cite
specific accomplishments.
4 Adjust your grammar
Resume writing standards allow for abbreviated
sentence construction. Leave out sentence
subjects (e.g. “I”, “my manager”), possessive
pronouns (“my/mine, “his/hers”), and
sometimes even articles (“the”, “a”). If you're
listing more than one accomplishment in a
sentence you can replace "and" with a
semicolon. Example: "I led an important project
and my manager gave me an award" would
become "Led key project; awarded by
manager."it again. Would you hire yourself? If
not, revise your cover letter until it’s perfect!
이력서이력서는 당신의 경력과 능력을 요약한 것이라는 것을 잊지마세요. 당신이 일에 적합한 사람이라고 하더라도, 당신의 이력서 역시 당신의 능력만큼 보여져야 할 것입니다!
훌륭한 이력서 작성을 위한 Top Tips:
1 이력 사항 개요먼저, 예전 직장과 학력을 리스트하여 작성하세요. 여기에 회사 정보, 자격증, 학위, 직위와 업무 및 구체적인 업무 수행 내용을 포함하세요.
2 구직하려는 포지션/부서 표기이력서 서두에 "Objective" 라고 불리는 제목을 포함하고 간단하게 서술하세요. 예문: "To work in a dynamic marketing
department."
3 Duties”? “accomplishments”?
"Duty"는 자신에게 주어졌던 업무를 의미합니다. "Accomplishment"란 노력으로 성취한 긍정적인 결과인 업무 성과를 의미합니다. 약간의 자랑은 필요하죠! 구체적인 업무 성과를 인용하세요.
4 문법 검사이력서 작성 기준은 축약형 문장 구문을 허용합니다. 문장 주어(예.“I”, “my manager”), 소유 대명사 (“my/mine, “his/hers”), 그리고 때로는 관사(“the”, “a”)까지도 생략하세요. 문장에서 한 개 이상의 성과를 나열한다면, "and" 를 세미콜린으로 바꾸어 쓸 수 있습니다. 예문: "I led an important project and my manager gave me an award" 는 다음과 같이 쓸 수 있습니다--> "Led key project; awarded by manager."

Top Tips for a successful interview:
1 Practice answers to potential questions
before the interview
Draft out questions you may be asked and think
about how you would answer each one.
2 Be clear about your strengths – prepare
specific examples!
You say you’re a great problem-solver. Prove it
with an example of how you overcame a
difficult situation at work.
3 List a weakness that you have already
overcome
Find something you had trouble with before but
have since dealt with. Perhaps you were
disorganized before but have now learnt to
prioritise.
4 Never allow yourself to be badgered about
your salary
It’s okay to give a salary range. Don’t be bullied
into settling for a package unworthy of your
qualifications.
성공적인 인터뷰를 위한 Top Tips:

Min-jung’s InterviewInterviewer: Why don’t you start by telling me about yourself?
Min-jung: I’ve got five years of experience in the industry. I’m currently an Account Executive for several major clients in my company.
Interviewer: Good. What would you say is your greatest strength?
Min-jung: I handle change well. I was asked to be the team’s leader when my line manager was on maternity leave. I really enjoyed the challenge of this additional responsibility. I was able to discover how to get the best from the individual members of the team. It also gave me the opportunity to propose and implement changes in the annual appraisal policies for the group. Now we use the process of 360 degree feedback in our appraisal system and the team members feel this makes the process much more objective.
Interviewer: And what would you say is your greatest weakness?
Min-jung: I’ve had trouble planning in the past, but I’ve put a lot of effort to work on this. I now prioritise all my tasks and plan everything ahead.
Interviewer: What would your co-workers say about you?
Min-jung: One of my team mates once mentioned that I was the most hardworking person he knows. My other colleagues have also told me that I’m an excellent source of feedback and ideas.
Interviewer: What would you say motivates you?
Min-jung: I’ve always been a conscientious person and I strive to do the very best no matter what position I’m in. Of course, I’d appreciate some recognition from my superiors from time to time!
Interviewer: Okay, thanks for coming in. We’ll be in touch.

Top Tips for negotiating your salary:
1 Research the salaries in your field
Do a little market research so you know what to
expect
2 Because you deserve it!
If you’re asking for more than what they’re
offering, be sure to make a solid case about
how you deserve it.
3 Be flexible - maybe they can give you better
benefits
It’s not that they don’t think you deserve what
you’re asking for. Perhaps they don’t have the
budget to give you the number you want. You
might want to consider taking the job anyway if
they’re willing to throw in free gym
membership or extra days off.
임금 협상을 위한 Top Tips:

Top tips for reading contracts:
1 Take your time
It’s important that you understand what you’re
agreeing to, so take as long as you need.
2 Don’t be afraid to voice doubt if you have
any
Speak up if you need further clarification on an
issue. Even native English speakers sometimes
need help with legalese.
3 If you don’t understand it, don’t agree to it
Never sign your name to anything unless you

understand the terms, seek help from a legal
advisor.
4 Never agree to performance requirements
that cannot be measured
You don’t want to get fired for not being ‘good’.
Look out for measurable performance
requirements in your contract and have vague
performance requirements explained.
계약서를 읽는 데 필요한 Top Tips:

Article 4.2 states clearly that you have no right to publish
that material. (조항 4.2는 귀하가 자료들에 대한 출판 권한이 없음을 명시하고 있습니다.)
이 단어는 동사로서 “필수 조건을 명기하다”라는 뜻입니다. 예문: Clause 8.1 stipulates that my client has the right to use the
land as he wishes. (조항 8.1은 내 의뢰인이 그가 원할 때 땅을 사용할 수 있는 권리를 갖고 있다고 규정하고 있다.)
어떤 일이 이루어지기 전에 필요한 기본 상태나 조건을 의미합니다. 예문: You can buy the property on the condition that the money is paid
in advance (돈이 미리 지불된다는 조건 하에 그 부동산을 구입할 수 있습니다.)
계약서가 Legally binding(법적 구속력)이 있다면, 계약서에 있는 규칙을 준수해야 합니다. 그렇지 않으면 법정에 소환될 수 있습니다.
Key terms you need to know:
“Party”
Contracts almost always refer to Party A and
Party B. Party means the person or persons
forming one side of an agreement. Who is Party
A and who is Party B is made clear at the
beginning of the contract.
“Article / clause”
An article or a clause is a particular statement or
point in the contract. People will often refer to
them when discussing a contract. For example:
Article 4.2 states clearly that you have no right
to publish that material.
“Stipulate”
This is a verb that means to specify an essential
condition. For example: Clause 8.1 stipulates that
my client has the right to use the land as he
wishes.
“Condition”
A condition means anything that is necessary
before the performance of something else. For
example: You can buy the property on the
condition that the money is paid in advance.
“Legally binding”
If a contract is legally binding you must obey the
rules of the contract or you can be taken to
court.
EN
www.englishtown.com
20
계약서가 null and void(무효화)되었다면, 그 계약서는 법적 권한을 갖지 않습니다. 따라서 쓸모없게 됩니다.
만약 당신이 breach of contract(계약 위반)으로 고소당한다면, 누군가가 당신이 계약 사항을 지키지 않았다는 것을 주장하는 것입니다. 이것은 그 사람이 당신을 법정에 소환할 수 있다는 것을 의미합니다.
“Null and void”
If a contract is null and void the contract has no legal
authority. It is therefore useless.
“Breach of contract”
If you are accused of breach of contract, a person is
claiming you have broken your agreement. This
means he/she can take you to court.
