So...how you doin’ ? Saints Simon and Jude “keepin’ it real” Prayers, Words and Wishes from our very own!!
Happy Mother’s day, We Love You, Mom!
The breath of God is a powerful imagery expressed through the Holy Spirit. Today as we celebrate our dear moms, living and deceased. We know that our mother’s life breath, literally gives us our breath. With each and every breath that mother takes during her pregnancy, each breath empowers her baby to breathe.
So dear mom, thank you for the breath of life.
So precious, so beautiful is the gift of Life.
In Jesus, Mary and Saint Joseph Fr. Mike Gerlach
Dear Parishioners, I hope you are well. I am well. But as we know, many are not well because they have been sickened by Covid-19 while so many others are afflicted with suffering and loss because of unemployment and the economy. Throughout this pandemic, I am inspired and my heart is warmed to see the compassionate care and response in so many people
who tend to the sick and to those in need. Daily, I have read or see on TV news the good that so many are doing. Stories abound about the good that our parishioners are doing.
I had the opportunity to volunteer a couple of times with Saint Pius X Parish (Broomall) Food collection for Drexel Neumann Academy (DNA) in Chester. Drexel Neumann Academy is an oasis in the city of Chester. DNA offers a faith filled Catholic education to 200 children in the city of Chester where, as you probably know, poverty and gun violence are rampant. The poverty level of the students’ families is staggering. The school put out a plea to provide food, groceries, and gift cards for the school families and other families in the neighborhood. Saint Pius X Parish joined in the effort. Since I have had some extra time on my hands these days, I volunteered to help them. Pictured with me is DNA President Alice Sylvester.
“May we hear and take to heart the message of Jesus in today’s Gospel. Knowing that faith is
the remedy for fear, Jesus invites us to have faith in God and faith in him. May we allow Jesus who is risen, alive, and present in our midst to provide the daily bread and grace we need.”
God bless you, Monsignor Dunleavy

Saints Simon and Jude School News This week, we continued SSJ’s e-Learning program with students, teachers, and parents working from home. Our new official last day of school will be Friday, May 29. I am so proud of our students and grateful to everyone who is working hard to ensure that our children can seamlessly transition into the next grade.
We also began to celebrate our Class of 2020 this week with “congratulations” lawn signs and individual bios on Facebook. We are hopeful that we will gather to celebrate your accomplishments when we are able.
In times like this, we are particularly grateful for the strength and togetherness of our community. Please continue your prayers for our school families as we navigate these difficult days.

Saints Simon and Jude School Annual Fund Update Thank you to all our school families, grandparents, parishioners, and friends who have supported our Annual Fund campaign! We have raised over $119,000 and our goal is $150,000. The success of the campaign is especially important with the recent reduction in donations to the church. Tuition only covers approximately 66% of the cost to educate
a student at SSJ. The remaining is parish support and fundraising. Thanks to our Annual Fund campaign, SSJ was better prepared to deliver e-Learning with the purchase of Chromebooks, online software, and online enrichment programs. The Annual Fund also provides financial aid to families in need. We have had a number of school parents with reduced income, job losses, or furloughs who we are helping with tuition assistance. SSJ would love to reach our goal and we only ask for your support if you can do so at this time. For more detail on what the Annual Fund supports, visit the school website at https://school.simonandjude.org/annual-fund

Thank you all for continuing to support Saints Simon and Jude Parish. In this difficult time of “no contact” we have been blessed to have so many parishioners finding ways of continuing to support our Parish. One of the many ways of keeping everyone safe and continuing to support our Parish is using our electronic giving. This allows you to make donations either on an automatic scheduled basis, weekly or monthly, or one-time, without personal contact. You may make your donations either directly from your bank account or using a credit or debit card. Please visit our online giving page. From our Parish home page go to “Ways to Give” then “Church E-give here”. Let us know if you have any questions on setting up your electronic giving by calling the Rectory office at 610-696-3624. Stay well, be blessed and always, thank you for your support!

When you cannot receive communion in person: Pray an Act of Spiritual Communion when watching streamed Masses. My Jesus I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.
