EAST LIBERTYMARKET HALLAcademic WorkThis design provides a dramatic and inviting market hall for a once-vibrant Pittsburgh neighborhood that suffered from urban planning mistakes in the 1960s.

The structure creates an inviting corridor that is visible by passing cars while creating a sheltered and engaging passageway through the market.

40

CHICAGO SYMPHONY HALLAcademic WorkAn annex between an elevated train and the symphony hall to include performance, classroom and public space.

Key element in the design was connecting the lobby to the sidewalk by creating a more permeable threshold.

FRICK PARK SCHOOLAcademic WorkA school on the site of a slag heap in Pittsburgh that becomes a sanctuary in the midst of a noisy city.

Assignment was to design an artists’ camp in Frick park. The structural system supports and transverses the shell, while the enclosed spaces occupy areas defined by the structure and shell. The program itself lends to a strong sense of center- being an outdoor dining area and plaza, the studio spaces face south to allow a greater solar window and act as a more public face to the camp, while the more intimate spaces house and feed the student/faculty residents.
