• What: To change lives of underprivileged and vulnerable children

• Whom: Orphaned, abandoned, homeless, children of sex workers and HIV/AIDS patients

• How: Provide long-term care and skills• Why: To help them grow into independent

and responsible children

Relationship defined

A relationship is a continuing series of collaborative interactions each inherently unique to

the individual participant.

In simple terms, we provide• Food

– Diet plan prescribed by experts– Three meals in a day and snacks in the evening

• Clothing – 3 sets of uniforms and civil dresses – 2 sets of underwear, 2 pairs of shoes & slippers p.a.

• Shelter– Two separate Homes– 9 rooms for Girls and 5 rooms for Boys

– English-medium education, After hours tuition support

• Healthcare – Medical, Dental, Eye Camps every year– 24 x 7 access to physicians

• Recreation– Excursions: Zoo, Circus, NTR Gardens, Prasadz et al– Drawing/Painting and Dancing, Movies and Music– Games: Cricket, Skipping, Carroms, Football et al

• Backdrop– Prostitution : Traditional Profession (Caste-based)– Children forced into flesh trade at puberty

• Girls become sex workers• Boys become pimps/traffickers

– Exploitation by community leaders and police– No general career option– Several HIV and AIDS patients

– Rehabilitation of children• SPHOORTI supporting 16 Dommara children• Comprehensive Care and Counseling

• Implications– A sex worker transmits HIV to 600 people in 10 years– We save

• Dommara children from becoming sex workers and pimps/traffickers

• 600 x (number of Dommara girls rescued) approx.• As many families
