does some furniture andsome other wooden things forpeople from outside. This is the

place where the elder boyslearn how to work with

wood with uncle Elvis

The

Orphan Home of Yaounde-Essos includes the orphan home

and 2 independent small buildings which are not really part of the

Orphan Home.

The Health Center which is called “l’’Infirmerie” is the “Medical Center” for all the surroundings.

Uncle René is the male nurse ; he is “very capable” and he knows how to use themicroscope that Auntie Danielle has brought back from France 3 years

So we have to pump

manually to fill up buckets in order to take a

shower or to use for the toilets. And this is not

very easy for small kids like us.

To the left, there is the water

tank with the place for

washing and hanging out the

laundry. But the motor

pump does not work.

As you can see, coming

through the gate from outside, the buildings are

all around the courtyard.

Then,going down to the left,

there is the Girls’ dormitoryand, in the green building, theclassroom for the small children

which has been given by MadameAïssa Motaze. This is where we

all begin to learn how toread and write.

The

“Big ones” go

to the surrounding

schools ; and the

elder even go to High

School or to the

lycée d’Essos.

But,

as there is no

water, it really smells

very bad and we prefer to

go outside behind the

Orphan Home. .

Behind MadameAissa’s classroom, you can see

the white building where the showersand the toilets are.

Pour

se doucher, on va puiser un seau. Ce n’est pas très pratique ;

et puis, une des deux douches est bouchée, on patauge dans

l’’eau des autres. C’est mauvais !

This is the back way to go outside.

But,

as there is no

light, we have to be

very careful at

night time !

Weall sing and we

really enjoy ourselves.Everyone is taking goodcare of us. It is just like

if we were in a real Family.

On the day of the party, there are many very nice ladies

who bring us candies and some gifts. Some even make videos of us to be put on

Last October, many people came to

visit the Orphan Home and they took many pictures. Tantine has told us that there

might be some renovations to be done to renew the Orphan Home that would be

paid by people from all over the World.

That’s it,you have almostfinished to go all

around. I am going towalk you back to theentrance door; thisway, we will walkjust in front of theExecutive Office

We really

would like to

have water, showers

and toilets, because

it is sometimes

really hard for all

of us.

So you won’t forget me, here is a picture of

myself with my boyfriends and my girlfriends during a party!You will easily recognise me as I am the one with plaids with white pearls on the head some people

even say that I look very naughty! Let me send you some big hugs. Please don’t forget me ; I won’t forget you because you are “so very nice”!

I. The needs

➢ septic tank for all waters(sewage water & black water) ;

➢ capacity of 75 EH(Human Equivalents);

➢ no electric energy ;

➢ technical filtration :

• by “media filtrant” with BIOROCK technology,

• or by “vertical sand filter” (traditional),

➢ minimum taking care of ;

➢ in between cleaning : 4 years.

II. How to do it :

➢ Import : non realistic solution • Uncertain local distributor ?

• After sales service?

• Cost of transportation?

• Custom fees ?

➢ Locally done :• to be privileged because of all the “import problems”

➢ To be done under the control of the Rotary Club of Yaoundé Collines :

• A company which could do all that is to be found ;

• All the quotations are to be established .

TO RESTRUCTURE THE COLLECTIVE KITCHEN

BY GIVING THE MINIMUM NECESSARY HYGIENE

Without replacing the traditional ways of doing, to be

able to cook for about 75 people (50 children) with a

minimum of comfort and hygiene.

This goes along with the Health of everyone, and

especially for the Children.

This requires

I- To reorganize the room where meals are prepared

in order to meet minimum hygiene rules :

➢ half height tiled walls ;

➢ creation of an easily cleanable work surface for food preparation ;

➢ installing a stainless steel sink with clean running drinking water ;

➢ to equip windows and doors with mosquito nets in order toprevent flies and mosquitoes to come in ;

➢ etc..

II- To reorganize the cooking area :

➢ installing a gate/barrier delimiting the cooking area with ano-animal access ;

➢ creation of a cooking surface above ground, with several fires, (wood or other means according to convenience) ;

➢ Setting up a collective stainless steel sink with clean runningdrinking water for washing up, according to the amount of

funds and to the users’ demands.
