Training should not be qualitatively different from that of a full-timer
Usually 50-80%
Principle of ‘pro rata’
Normal full-time working week = 10 sessions (40 hrs)7 Clinical sessions 3 Educational sessions
1 Half-day release 1 Practice delivered education (equivalent) 1 Independent learning
Example LTFT 60% = 6 sessions (24 hrs) 4.2 Clinical sessions1.8 Educational sessions

The Working Week
A balance between GP StR personal arrangements Practice room availability / GP Trainer hours GP StR educational needs
Childcare arrangement should be arranged around work requirements not vice versa

GP ReturnersQualified GPs who have previously completed training Out of practice for more than TWO years6 months full-time (9 sessions) or part-time equivalentEmployed by practice (as with registrar)Entry knowledge test and exit MRCGP Applied Knowledge Test
