Memphis, Tennessee â July 20, 2015 â On July 18, 2015, Troy Goode died after beingsted by theDesoto County Sheriff's Department. Mr. Goode was a 30-year-old chemical engineer, a devotedhusband, and a loving father of a 15-month-old son.

Troy attended Christian Brothers University, where he received a Bachelors of Science in ChemicalEngineering with honors. After graduating from CBU, Troy worked for nexAir, a local industrial supplycompany. As a plant engineer, Troy custom-designed a 3,500 square-foot hydrogen gas plant operating inMemphis. Troy was an animal lover and often volunteered his time working for local charities such as theFamily Safety Center of Memphis and Shelby County.

On July 18, 2015, at around 7:45 p.m., Troy was arrested by the Southaven Police department, apparentlyfor disorderly conduct. According to eyewitnesses, Troy was held down by multiple police officers andhogtied. After paramedics arrived, Southaven police strapped Troy onto a stretc

her face-down and stillhogtied. Troy was then transferred by police away from the scene, and he was eventually taken to BaptistMemorial Hospital-Desoto.

At around 9:00 p.m., family members who called Baptist were informed Troy was in stable condition, butthat they would be arrested for obstruction of justice if they came to the hospital to check on him. Lessthan an hour later at 9:56 p.m., an employee of Baptist called Troy's wife, Kelli Goode, and informed herthat Troy had passed away.

The family has retained Ballin, Ballin & Fishman. The family's attorneys are actively investigating Troy'sarrest to determine exactly what caused the death of an active, healthy, 30-year-old man. The attorneysare concerned with the amount of force used in Troy's arrest and troubled by the police officers' conducttoward his family and the public. Eyewitnesses to Troy's arrest have confirmedthat Mr. Goode washogtied. Eyewitnesses have also stated that Troy was saying, "I can't breathe"while strapped face-downto the stretcher. The attorneys are aware of at least two cell-phone videos taken by bystanders at thescene. According to eyewitnesses, officers threatened to arrest anyone taking c

ell phone footage of Troy'sarrest or the restraints being used by police. Attorneys for the family ask that anyone with a cell phonevideo or anyone who may have information about Troy's arrest or death contact Ballin, Ballin & Fishman.

Tim Edwards and Kevin McCormack, the familyâs attorneys, are sending a letter todayrequesting that theMississippi Attorney General conduct an investigation into Troy's death and theconduct of the officers

involved. The familyâs attorneys are also requesting that the United States Department of Justiceinvestigate the use of force by the Southaven Police Department.
